The ending is expected to come out (visual novel 7 or 8) during 2010. August or December of that year. One assumes an animated version of it will come out in 2011, or late 2010. Visual novel 6 is suppose to come out this December. 5 came out last August.

The anime at present will only go through Visual Novel 4 (which will start next week in show). Pattern is similar to Higurashi. Four question arcs (this season), and then three or four....answer-ish arcs then next season.

Thanks!!! I thought Higurashi turned out quite well, but I was afraid that Umineko could have have either gone the Spiral Way (No answers just lots of questions to entice the viewers to watch) or Inu-Yasha (The bloody ending will come a decade later if at all by which time I've completely lost interest in the franchise).

On a chessboard, what pieces would you consider Battler and Beatrice to be? I don't know much about chess, but I need to know this for a little figure set I'm going to make. I just especially need Beatrice, for my friend's birthday in 2 days.

Though if there's a list with all the characters and what you think they'd be, please share. ;> I'm not counting on it, but still.


Also, anime question.. In ep 18, Battler said something about the contract not being what they were agreeing to, or something to that effect. What was it supposed to be, in his mind?

There are probably different opinions but Beatrice imho is definitely the Black Queen.
This kind of comparison has been made even in the novel.

In the case of Battler I think he's probably the White King.

No clue, I don't remember this in the novel but I might be wrong.

Battler: White King
Angie/Enje/Whatserface, Battler's Sis: White Queen.
Parents + Gohda: White Pawns (Sorry, guys.)
George + Jessica: White Bishops
Kanon + Shannon: White Rooks
Genji + Nanjo: White Knights

Maria: Black King (Yes, _Maria_. That's what her crown says.)
Beato: Black Queen
The 7 Stakes + 1 Goat: Black Pawns
Ronove: Black Rook
The Siestas: Black Knights
Virgilia: Black Bishop
(Missing two, unless you want Eva-Beatrice to be the other black bishop/rook along with Kinzo)

No, I remember reading that she was mentioned in EP1 (?) of the visual novels and remember seeing a screenshot of it. It was so minor that I forgot, but she was mentioned before.

Since this wasn't clearly shown in the episode - how was Jessica killed or did Kanon "save" her (although it is more likely that she died if Eva killed everyone...)?

It is not clear how she got killed in both the anime and the VN, but it is a fact that she did die and Eva was the only survivor.

Question just out of curiosity...why is "34" a nickname for Lambdadelta?

I know it's one for Takano in Higurashi as well, and I know why for her.

Can't see the reason for this case though.

Lambda is the 11 letter, but has a numerical value of 30 (λ) Delta is numerically 4 (δ). Thus λδ = 34

Yeah I already knew what they meant, only I didn't know they had a numerical value to them.

And adding on to 34, Takano is called 34 because "miyo" is written using the kanji for 34.
