I just realized the Macross Fortress class over the planet. It design is more reminiscent of the original Macross. No separate Macross cannon as a side arm. I am interested to see the specs and when she will see combat.

As for Mirage and Hayate, it is following the standard formula from SDF Macross, Frontier and even Macross II. Two opposites, antagonistic toward each other and eventually... well unless Kawamori trolls us badly on this one.

Probably because she had almost the entire first episode dedicated to setup between her and Hayate. Plus, the OP even has Hayate and Freyja in a scene together right at the beginning, with Mirage getting a separate scene right after.

On the other hand, if you look at all the 2-girls-1-guy Macross triangles, it's always been the more mature(-looking, at least) girl who wins. Misa, Silvie, Sara, and Sheryl. Mirage may not necessarily be the mature "older" type like them, but she's clearly more so than the genki Freyja.

So there's that.

There's also the added element of it being an idol group this time; if it comes down to 'choosing' between Hayate and Walküre (or even the appearance of such,) the added element of potentially harming the group puts more strain on Freyja's leg of the triangle, even on top of Freyja's personal hopes and dreams of being an idol. Of course, that might just make it an even bigger opportunity for drama and audience trolling.

It's just first few eps

when Hayate joins the Delta Squad, he and Mirage can spend plenty of time. She is even his soon-to-be mentor.

But I feel like Freyja is likely to have escaped the sister zone.
