But in the anime-verse I think its symbolic of the first time.
I think in an earlier volume when Misaki mentioned about red bean rice, Chihiro asked Sorata "who did you do?".

I actually wanted to read about the actual event because I am a normal guy, what goes on between the two should be extremely hilarious (a shy Sorata and the rather bold Mashiro: with knowledge obtained from manga/Rita/Misaki and other bad influences).

btw Mashiro wears a pair of victory pantsu to their dates and the night where the two had Sakurasou all to themselves, I find it to be funny and cute at the same time.
The author can indirectly imply a progression in their relationship by showing Sorata's will to share a bed with Mashiro in v12.

School trip. Sorata use this chance to make his choice on who to choose and Mashiro waited for him in the church. Nanami waited for him at somewhere else.

She transfer to the school and move into sakurasou. Nanami move out at the start of volume 9.

She confess to Sorata and he told her that he like Mashiro more then her. But he like both girls.

2 of the chapters are about how Ex student council president and Saori become a couple. 3rd chapter is about Mashiro being sick. 4th story is about Nanami making the decision to move out of Sakurasou.

Sorata promised to give the two girls his answer on the last day of the school trip (Nanami got Sorata on the first day, while Mashiro go him on the second). So Nanami and Mashiro told Sorata to meet up in opposite directions: Nanami at the station and Mashiro on a viewing platform overlooking the city.

Sorata decided to go to Nanami first. She was surprised to see him but soon realize what is going on when she saw the look on Sorata's face. Sorata wanted to give her a proper closure. Because of this he was late to meeting Mashiro, who left just minutes before Sorata arrived at the platform. Since Mashiro had drawn out her plans with Sorata in her sketch book ahead of time, Sorata was able to track Mashiro down at the church.

Spoiler for thoughts on the Nanami vs Mashiro race:

I think Nanami put up a good fight. They resemble a real couple when the two of them spend time together.

However, I think this is a fight which she has already lost before it started. From the start of the anime we learned how Sorata found life to be rather plain and boring, but Mashiro's entry into his life made everything more colorful. Remember: before he met Mashiro, he already spent a year at Sakurasou and already met Nanami through Hikari.

Nanami brought up a very good point during her confession: she asked Sorata to consider the future. He is able to see how a life with Nanami by his side would look like, while life with Mashiro is shrouded with uncertainties.

This is also the great conflict between the Sorata and Mashiro in the later part of the story. I think if Sorata is not as uncertain about their future, the two would have gone out a lot earlier.

Sorata went full on ass mode towards Mashiro during the school trip. This was extremely painful to read: Mashiro had been looking forward to spending time with Sorata (as they were quite distant from each other before), she had it all planned out and made all sorts of preparation only to have Sorata destroy every last bit of her fantasy. There was a small period of time where I feel Nanami would win out.

Then I quickly came into realization that Sorata will not treat Mashiro like that if she hadn't already "won" (one can use Jin and Misaki as a reference: Jin always loved Misaki but kept a distance). This is because we only have that awareness when you are beside someone you deeply love. Alas, the time Sorata spent with Nanami, even though they resemble lovers, the inner Sorata is in a relaxed state as if he is just hanging out with another close friend.

I think the bottom line is that no one (Sorata and myself included) can resist the cuteness Mashiro radiates.

Spoiler for Yuuko question:

Yuuko was refused admission into Sakurasou. She tried: posted posters of "problematic child here" around the school and such. However Rita already claimed Nanami's room behind the scenes.

I really wanted to shoot myself for not noticing Nanami's cameo.
I personally think the series is good enough to warrant a second season, although I feel the LN volumes I read was not as good as the first parts of the anime. I do not expect season 2 to come at least in another year though.
This is, imo, an example where an anime is done right: scenes which I normally would not find as touching and emotional while reading are amplified in the anime.

Thanks FlyingD, Yuuko one is pretty funny. I agree season two will probably happen next year assuming the final volume comes out this year or early next. I have a feeling everyone is going to hate Sorata even more after reading the spoilers. Haha.

About the LNs, I just hope the translator doesn't stop anytime soon, love the translations so far, better than anime imo.

I must admit being guilty in this case . When I read the spoiler I *was* annoyed and thought "Wow, Sorata could really become even more of an *beep*!? (other than already shown in the anime)"

Sorata rushed back to Sakurasou from the university.
When he arrived at Sakurasou, it is already 12:07, 7 minutes late.
"Mashiro!"
Sorata yelled out Mashiro's name as he forced the door open. He took off his shoes and went up the stairs before closing the door.
Suddenly, a sound was made behind Sorata.
Sorata came to a pause.
It might be a cat, but it might also be Mashiro. Sorata carried the taught and headed towards the origin of the noise, room 101.
Standing at the entrance, he feels there is somebody inside. There is no mistake to it, there must be someone.
"Mashiro, is that you?"
Sorata confirms as he opens the door.
In his view is his own room, the room that he is used to. But from Sorata's mouth he drew the words
"ha? what!?"
Across the room spreads clothings, towels, manga, magazines, copies of the game's data. Without a place to stand, it resembles someone's room.
In the middle of the mess, there is a cute monster with messy clothes.
It's Mashiro. Wearing the dress Sorata shyly picked during their last date.
Covered by a light wool jacket, its a thoughtful combination. However this is not the time to enjoy the view.
"Hey! What are you doing?"
Mashiro stares at Sorata.
"Its out of excitement"
"or rather out of anger, right!?"

"Ahhh~ what to do about this? It's going to be an annoyance to tidy...."
He picks up the game data and enters the room.

btw, Chihiro reminded Sorata that the walls in Sakurasou are quite thin, which is why she hinted at the opportunity for the time when the two had Sakurasou to themselves.
I admit my mind went wild while reading that
