Well, but that at least injected some edge of "suspense" of something bad (not necessarily death will happen to him. Now he's even more safe because Saazbaum wants him alive. Talk about killing all the tension in one swoop.

Please. He's not dumb. A little lacking in confidence, maybe, but he's smart enough. He just got outsmarted by Saazbaum, that's all. His plan wasn't so bad, all things considering.

The only one who, I might add, seems to posses a brain and is the show's main antagonist.

Slaine did the best he could.
Sure, he isn't the smartest but there was no reason for him to know he was lead into a trap.
He hoped that telling the Emperor his grandaughter is alive would help.
And indeed,9 times out of 10 it would've happened.
Saazbaum had to tell him some pretty elaborate and BS tale to make the Emperor so distrusting and even turning coats at a moment of notice.

Can't say I enjoyed this episode as much as did the previous ones. While it would have been interesting to keep Slaine on the Martian side investigating it makes sense that he has to escape after last episode. Slaine's father must have found out something real important about Aldnoah if Sazzabam wants Slaine alive so badly. I hope that his interactions with Inaho are interesting.

Inaho this time doesn't take down the enemy with just one plan and only survives due to Slaine's intervention. Other than that Inaho doesn't do much other than have a moment with the princess which results in a cute pout from her and he also causes misunderstandings when with his friends.

Best part of the episode IMO was finding out more about this John guy Marito mentioned last episode. We also found out that the current Captian was his sister which is the reason for her interest in Marito. The scene reinforces my theory that John was in a stuation where if Marito didn't kill him he would have suffered a fate worse than death.

Well I knew defection was incoming but I didn't think it would happen this fast, but considering Slaine did use that chamber room without permission, I guess it couldn't be helped.

I think his calm at first but when he continues to miss. He become agitated which is .... forceful or dumb for me.

He manage to snipe the others while the remaining one that is nose diving into them. He can't hit.

I'm fine with Inaho being smart (poor princess) but forcefully making the situation against him even though his doing good at first felt dumb for me.

Inaho knows his science.

It's interesting that Slaine seems to have become pretty self-assured now that everyone wanted to kill him.

In fact, He was pretty badass when asking about the orange mecha.

War against Earth is official.
Slaine is making an effort to find out more.
Vers sure used the Princess the start the war..
Poor girl didn't have a clue.
Halfway through the anime we finally get more info about Aldnoah.
Wonder when we'll be able see it..
Sudden attack on the ship made things more interesting.
Looks like another knight is gonna try out her luck.
She sure has an interesting mecha.
Our team caught a lucky break.
Looks like Slaine is defecting with a nice mecha.

The series compositor said Slaine's going to gain a lot of emotional strength. It's one of those situations one will break or become stronger.

Inaho knows his science.
According to AICW from the MAL forums he was hitting it but it was descending towards them at a very high speed at a 90 degree angle which is the point of highest resistence. In order to throw it off its trajectory he would have needed a much bigger gun. Slaine manged to do it because he hit it from a different angle.

There's something a little different in the tone of this weeks episode in general though it's hard to put my finger on it exactly. It's like it's just decided to take itself a little less deathly seriously at all times (I mean how could you when your monster of the week is basically a representation of the Hindu god Ashura) and is finally just allowing itself to breath more deeply and focus on what it has so far neglected in just simple more natural character interaction and it's so much more enjoyable for it versus the constant stream of expository dialogue and what I could only describe as stiffness of the cast that much of the rest of the series has dealt out. I don't know what it was specifically, but honestly the last month or so of episodes was somehow kind of suffocating in terms of writing by comparison like it was trying way too hard to play itself as so much more sophisticated and gritty with all it's focus on pseudo science and "war is hell" stuff than the average mecha series and now it's like the show is a bit more comfortable with itself, it's genre, and what it actually has laid out for itself on the table so far. In general though I've found that the less emphasis the show puts on Inaho and his exploits, the better it comes across for sure. It's a shame, but the main character of this show is by far and away it's weak link IMO.

Or maybe it's just that I'm becoming more comfortable with what it is having experienced it and realized just how different it really is from what it was advertised as being by now. It's funny though despite there being an open declaration of war the state of the conflicts portrayal in these one off battles between Vers Knights and Inaho's crew continues. Makes you wonder what the situation around the rest of the globe is actually like or how they could possibly be holding out at all.

How the show is using Asseylum has been disappointing lately.

Now, it's certainly not Nobunaga The Fool "why the heck is Jeane even in this show!?" level of disappointment yet, but bad I'm worried.

Well, at least Slaine is going to change the dynamics around

It was stupid. He doesn't know how the communication technology works, so it's likely that either he can't contact the emperror directly or that cruhteo will know if it is used. In both cases he is dead and there is nobody anymore that can help the princess. The emperror has no reason to believe Slaine, he has no evidence and the emperror doesn't know him personally. Slaine also doesn't know who is a traitor, because he killed trillram before he asked any questions.

Even if the emperror believes him all he can do is starting an investigation and he can't arrest the traitors, because Slaine doesn't know who it is and has no proof. All slaine could gain is an investigation and a truce, but the emperror has already started an investigation and there was a truce.

He isn't stupid, but he needs somebody that would prevent him from doing something stupid.(Like rayet last episode for the princess)

The other members of the female cast, specially Darzana, Yuki and Inko make up for it. This episode reaffirmed my favouritism toward Inko.

What can you expect in a escort mission for the one that is being escorted? Honesty I'm even more disappointed in Asseylum, the character that always make the show for me is a strong female lead. At least before it's escort mission with Inaho and tracking down the conspirator with Slaine, now it's solely a escort mission.

I do wish Asseylum could clear up the misunderstanding between Slaine and the Count so he can go back secretly doing what he had been doing.

Edit: Hate to say it but I'm in agreement with Thess, this time childhood friend is indeed better. I won't mind for a Inko x Inaho ending. Yuki is great too.

Reconfirming the Princess's safety and asking for her side of the story also helps Slaine put the pieces together.

There is no way Slaine can get anything done on Mars. Even if Saazbaum didn't label him public enemy #1, he has no power and no authority, so his freedom of movement is far too restricted for him to find the information he needs anyway.
