Though the fact that AFO's still alive got me to thinking about Marvel/DC, sure the prisons in BNHA seem to take their prisoners more seriously and don't coddle them for being "insane" like Arkham Asylum but the guy should have gotten the death penalty as quickly as possible for the threat he represents

Indeed. It was clear that AM has no qualm to kill him during their 1st battle, so why is he now sparing AFO now is really beyond me.

My reason for saying coddling is that they get the Joker lots of psychiatrists who try curing the guy only to backfire, Harley Quinn for example.

If they really took the guy seriously they'd make it so that he wouldn't be able to even have access to a glass of water lest he smash it and use it to stab someone or say talk to someone because it could end up like the last episode of Sherlock Season 4

Sure killing The Joker may cause him to come back or get replaced and the asylum itself may be evil, but it still doesn't excuse how lax they are to guys who've repeatedly escaped from them.

BTW, it seems that Sir's full hero name is actually something like Sir Nighteye (or maybe Knighteye?). It also looks like Sir is something of a scientist who conducts some rather.... unique experiments:

^...yeah. Anyway, when Deku introduces himself to Sir near the end of the chapter, his face amusingly turns into All Might's. However, this visual gag only pisses off Sir, who asks him if he's making fun of his old partner, lol. Really looking forward to the full chapter!

I'm not so sure, personally I think from the way AM explained their battle and the way he was drawn hanging over AfO "corpse" it wasn't he had no problem with killing it's that the dude had no choice, I mean he got a whole punched through his chest to take him out. Fairly certain the author is going to flashback that fight and it's gonna be some incredible struggle where he had no choice. Considering how their 2nd confrontation went, I think AfO got significantly stronger while All Might got weaker so he was quick to kill because he had no time and plus Gran Torino had to basically remind him not to fuck around and go for the kill. Yea man Heroes in this world are very similar to police in their mentality of trying to apprehend villains first instead of killing them.

They escape because of PLOT. Dude you must be thinking of golden age shenanigans because trust me they've been taking the Joker seriously since forever plus ever author(depending on how good they are) handle the "escapes" in whatever way the plot demands. Whether the villain goes through a legitimate process of being cured and they have an arc(only to be written to go evil later), or they're drafted into the suicide squad, or they escape in some elaborate plan or my personal favorite their escape is not even explained. Also there are plenty of psychopaths, pedophiles and straight up evil people in prison right now who are getting life instead of the death sentence killing someone sometime can be a mercy, I'd rather they experiences as much pain and suffering in prison as possible before they die a miserable lonely death.

p.s. Dude they take the Joker VERY seriously in Gotham. You just need to actually read the comics before making second hand assumptions, just to illustrate my point. If there's even a rumor about the Joker planning something or in town they're got entire task forces, 24 hour news reports on the status of the situation, the military on stand by and just about every caped and tights wearing motherfucker in town on high alert(Batman basically tells the Justice League to fuck off until the matters settled). I can't remember the exact title at the moment, I think somewhere in Detective Comics post 700+ or maybe a Batman Annual somewhere, but Joker is held in a facility that makes Magneto's in the movies looks like one of those play pens for toddlers.

so summary:

- a lot of teachers dont want the kids to do the internship (AM too)
- they decided to only allow them the internship IF it is a notable place, otherwise they cant do it,
- bakugou seems to have a issue with the others being able to advance while he is stuck doing training (lol)
- deku gets help from phasing-boy in order to get a internship into Sir's place...
- dekus messes up the first impression...

my opinion:

nah, could have been better :/
to be honest if the author spend FAR less time on deku i think it would have been a lot better :/ WAY to much talk going on

i hope that we get to see bakugou and todo train(wonder what kind of training it is) for the exam because im not that interested in deku metting yet another mentor who will help him create his "own style" :/

PS: the first time in this story i found myself wondering how similar i was to sticky-balls kid one line of him basically made him the star of the manga XD

"Mirio being Nighteye's intern". Called it lol. Bubble girl is adorable. Hori pandering to the fujo crowd by having Kaminari playing with Talbro's tail, I see through you Hori. Nighteye is my new favorite hero, having a dry sense of humor, weirdo and his "look". Awesome.

Well, so that super-intense former sidekick of All Might turns out to have a sense of humor. A really weird sense of humor (tickle torture?). And confirmation that Mirio would have been All Might's successor if he hadn't bumped into Midoriya.

I wonder how All Might and "Sir" broke up. Sounds like the sidekick knew about his situation with OFA and AFO? Although I found it pretty funny how all the teaching staff chimed in while All Might was explaining things. I hope Deku can bounce back, and huh, so that explains that one panel gag from a while back (just picked up the English GN 7 which had that exposition chapter). Maybe if Deku starts his mutter-analysis that'll get a laugh?

"Sir" isn't what I expected considered how he looks in previous chapter, a no-bullsit person with glasses.

It seems that Mirio character has starting to grow on me. Hope that he won't die or a spy.

Also love AM's 3 reasons for declining Deku's request but it turned out 3rd reason is the real reason why he refuse to accept Deku's request. Those teachers talking behind AM was hilarious. Definitely add a rich content to the dialog.

Unlike Deku Tintin is a bright and cheerful kid with "always smile" trait made him closely similiar to AM than Deku, Mirio is indeed better choice than Deku to succeed AM as symbol of peace 2.0
I have to be honest, after read this chapter my heart is waving with a thought Mirio should get OFA than Deku with that quality him displayed.
Deku probably could not 100% displayed his predecessor trait but he could be different form of symbol of peace.

Can't blame AM for having that thought considering how slow Deku's growth was. Until now, he is only manage to use 8% of the OFA. He was supposed to be analytic but so far, it doesn't yield a great result as we expected.

Yes, that were the sole reason for Deku being choosen, it's the moral integrity Deku hold for hero value.

I'm actually kinda not surprised that All Might was against introducing Deku to Sir. I mean, if that weren't the case, he'd have introduced them WAY earlier, but.... instead he chose Gran Torino. I imagine AM had a rather... unique history with Nighteye. I mean, I dunno how else to describe the experience of working with a guy who takes humor a little too seriously!

And on that note.... while it looks like Sir was angry with Deku at the end there, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the next chapter starts with him cracking up at the kid's impression, heh. Sir definitely strikes me as the type who can easily mislead people with that piercing glare of his....
