CG was expected. How do you expect ppl to match up Miura style w/o killing all their manpower with hand-drawn? When I see the full double-page full on detail porn, I can't imagine them going full 2d unless they cut corners hardcore.

And ppl in the industry were likely thinking that Arpeggio and Sidonia no Kishi showed them that they are on the good track to make 2D looking 3D.

The CGI part is bad IMO even after watching this pv several time. The way he walk is unrealistic and too stiff!!!! (Like a robot)

I hope it's an early version and that the CGI will improves during post-production/editing.

You do realize that everything in that promo is CGI, don't you..?

there is a 2D animated close-up in the middle of the PV. The part where it looks decent.

EDIT:

Not everything. As noted above, some close-ups are 2D.

After what it has been done with One Punch Man and Unlimited Blade Works, you expect something with the name of Berserk to be done with a good amount of budget.

Anyway, I will be happy seeing the Dragon Slayer swinging around making bloody messes.

Can't say it looks good...especially when the last CGI that comes to mind was Overlord's. Then again, it is unfair to judge works from two entirely different studios...but still.

Yeah, the CG isn't amazing, though Guts's face in 2D looks nice. At this point, I'm pretty much like "fuck it, it's Berserk", lol. What matters most to me is making sure the story is adapted well. I don't want stuff cut out and changed unnecessarily like the movies did. Retain the humour of Berserk, and don't skip out Puck either!

It's same hybrid animation like was used in Golden Age movies.
Basically whole thing is done completely via 3DCG animation and selected keyframes and details are redrawn with 2D hand animation.
It looks roughly like this:

(Top) Initial 3DCG model
(Bottom) Final outcome where Guts' head, hand and sword are hand-redrawn.

At this point they might as well make it a video game.

And yes, it's tragedy that lesser titles get all the budget in the world thrown at them. I'd sooner MAPPA or madhouse took a stab at this than any underwhelming thing they've been working on recently.

then it will be a TV series, to be honest I do not know what to expect because I think censorship on Japanese TV is inconsistent, there are some anime that come after midnight and were quite censored (Triage X and Gate season 1) and other as Gintama passing early (18:00) and quite violent, same One Piece has little censorship and blood, and passes 9:30 in the morning. it depends on the studio or channel given exclusive freedom for some series?

That could be the very reason it's moved to WOWOW - too fucked up for NTV. They've broadcast the likes of Shigurui, Paranoia Agent, Kemonozume and Baccano!.

That said, there's some stuff in Berserk which seems unspeakable for any TV anime.

oh yeah, right, the downright disturbing (to put it lightly) stuff done by the Inquisition. And those are the least worse. Then cue the Kushan Empire.

I'm very much in wait-and-see mode right now. Yeah, new PV coming this Fri-Sat so we'll see what happens. Seems like they'll be doing the Conviction Arc?

They'll be doing the Black Swordsman arc first and maybe a part the Conviction arc (Lost Children Chapter, not confirmed though). We can see Puck at the top right of the visual above.
