After seeing that PV my expectations went up further. Not that disappointed anymore that Kaori Nazuka didn't end up getting the role like I hoped but I think Kitta Izumi fits the role based on the character's appearance very well. The visuals look really nice too, but the shade under Tomoki's eyes look a bit weird but nothing that bothers me to a considerable extent either.

I really wonder what is wrong with Silver Link and Shin Oonuma. Tasogare Otome x Amnesia was a great one-cour series, and Baka and Test seems hilarious and fun with the humor (although many argue that it went stale by season 2) and the SHAFT-like art.

And let's not forget his last major series was Kokoro Connect which turned out to be a solid series despite weaknesses in the source material. (He wasn't involved in the controversy with that show? It'd be horrible if this series faces an otaku backlash because of that.)

As for the studio, this isn't a series that requires anything fancy. I would've been perfectly happy with JC Staff. My only worry is that the writer's done a good bit of ecchi comedy, but given how faithful the PV looks it's not a big worry.

Tomoko's seiyuu seems to have a resume that's entirely "shows I haven't seen" so I can't really say much. She sounds (almost) annoying enough in the PV, at least.

Given that Oonuma was chief director for that series, with Shinya Kawamo getting the unadorned "director" credit, I do wonder how much of Kokoro Connect's direction was actually his responsibility. Oonuma's influence certainly wasn't very visible.

Granted, I hardly believe his mere presence will doom Watamote to failure, though I don't think his track record as sole director has been stellar.

Agree to disagree I suppose. I found Amnesia to range from terrible to mediocre and I never got more than a few episodes into BakaTest. My problem with Oonuma is that he's too heavy-handed with his material and when he tries to be Shinbo he fails to be anything than a mere copycat. Shinbo's direction plays with the eye while the brain is absorbing the dialogue, Oonuma just throws a bunch of shit on screen without any care to how it's placed or when it's timed. I almost wish he had been more present in Kokoro Connect, maybe that show would've been so bad it was good then instead of just bad.

My problem with Silver Link in general is that their animation is mediocre and their art direction ranges from bleh to "oh god what the hell are you doing please stop".

And the merchandizing begins. Behold, the Mokocchi Nendroid:

According to the show's official Twitter stream it'll be released next March. Preorders are open through August.

Cute! If I was a collector of Nendroids, I'd totally get it.

While I personally prefer Kaori Nazuka, I still think Izumi Kitta fits the role very well from what we've seen so far.

I imagined her being huskier, but I can live with that.

From what I've seen around the web, a lot of people are just looking at the incredibly long title and assuming this is going to be a light comedy like OreShura or Yahari Ore. The reactions come Monday should be hilarious.

Indeed, the title is so annoyingly long I think a lot of people are assuming it's a LN rather than a manga.

IIRC; watamote was the shorter name given to it by the english speaking community and the japanese author liked it enough for it to become the official one.

No, Gangan Online held a suggestion contest and WataMote was the winning entry.
