“What is it that you want?” asked Material-D who didn’t even remove her eyes from her tome.

"I was wondering if you wanted to play a game." A quick glance from the Hayate replica allowed her to see that Lutecia had entered the library and was carrying a chessboard and a small box on top of it. "Do you know chess?"

The replica raised an eyebrow. “You… want to play me at chess?”

“Sure… I mean, dinner’s still not quite ready yet and I wouldn’t mind matching wits with you!”

“Hmph… you’re either brave or foolish if you think you could match wits with me.” After some brief thought, she set her book aside. “Very well. Try and entertain me.”

Lutecia merely smiled as she put the board down and set up the pieces. "You prefer white or black?"

"You can have the first turn."

"Ah, okay… I read a lot of chess books and I don’t get a chance to put what I read into action often so I was hoping for a good opponent." While Lutecia pondered her first move, a part of her hoped that the other woman didn't realize her true purpose behind setting up this game.

By keeping Yami’s mind occupied, the chances that she would pick up on the battle unfolding far away from the compound would be lower. And as long as she remained in the dark about that, she wouldn’t be able to head out and help her friends. That was definitely a plus in Lutecia’s books. After all, a fight this close would absolutely ruin her precious resort, and she just couldn't have that.

"So tell me… who are these companions with you in that picture?" A light flex of her fingers allowed Yami to use telekinesis and summon a picture that had sat on top of the shelf behind Lutecia. The photo had Lutecia sitting with a fairly tall teenaged boy and a far shorter pink-haired girl. "What is your relationship with them?"

"Huh?" Lutecia was caught off guard by that question. Did Material-D just ask about her relationship with Erio and Caro? “We’re just…”

Honestly, considering the lengths they went to help her when she still worked with the Doctor, the term friends probably wasn’t enough to define what they meant to her. So where would they be?

“Just… what? Friends? Lovers? Or do you have some other bizarre relationship like that young man being some sort of pimp?”

"BWAH! P-pimp…?" Lutecia started twitching at the thought of Erio pimping her out. Although if he were to wear a fedora hat and some fine jewelry while she wore her new barrier jacket...

*Flash*

"Now then! Did you do a good job today?" asked Erio who was wearing a purple suit and a fedora hat. And of course, lots of fabulous looking jewelry that made Raising Heart look like an old busted stone.

"Yep yep-OOH!" Lutecia felt that slap on her rear hard as she was in her new barrier jacket, which, for some odd reason was looking a bit more brazen than usual. She grinned at him as she reached into her bosom to flash him the earnings for the day. "Got you lots of cash."

"Good girl! What about you…?" He looked at Caro, who was pouting. And he already knew the outcome of her efforts.

"I'm sorry! I'm just so short and flat and no one seems to see me as anything more than jailbait."

"Come on!" Lutecia got behind Caro and hugged the midget. "It's not her fault. I'll just work extra hard and pick up the slack."

"Good, now, you better show your appreciation for her hard work," said the redhead as he poked Caro in the belly with Strada in pimp cane mode.

Caro nodded and turned around to try and kiss Lutecia on the lips. She ended up kissing the girl's neck.

"And you better make it a good show!"

Wait a second… that’s not right. If anything, she should be the one doing the teasing and being in control. Hm, that would make for an amusing birthday present. She activates her new barrier jacket while forcing him in that getup. Then Garyu can get some pictures and everyone would have a laugh…

That would be fun. And seeing him all flustered would be so hot… hehehehehe…

"I would appreciate it if you could stop thinking of whatever perverted fantasy you're having and answer the question. Otherwise, I'm going to blow a wall apart."

"Don't you dare!" Lutecia snapped back to reality as she stood straight up, her eyes wide.

"If you are to be a good servant, you should learn to answer me more promptly," replied Material-D in a simple tone.

The younger Alpine rubbed her head for a moment while trying to get her thoughts together. "So, what did you want to know again? Something about my relationship with…?"

"These two. You were in this picture, so I was wondering how you know them."

Lutecia took a breath and sat down across from Yami. "Sorry, I heard you wrong. Anyway," she touched the white Pawn in front of her king, "I believe white goes first." She moved it forward two spaces.

The Hayate replica nodded and moved her own pawn forward one spot. "Now, about these two?"

Lutecia moved the King's Bishop three spots. "Well, they're my best friends."

"Best friends, huh?" She paused for a moment before moving the Queen's Rook's Pawn forward one spot.

"Yes." Lutecia nodded as she moved her King's Knight up two spaces and left one. "They saved me while their adopted mother saved mine."

Material-D moved the Queen's Pawn up one spot. "I see. It sounds like you're close to them."

Another move with the Knight. "Yes."

"So, would it be safe to say that you would do anything for them?"

"Yeah, I guess I would do anything for them,” said the young lady with a small smile.

"Even if it took you away from your mother? And caused you harm?"

“It would not be the first time.” She looked up and felt a chill go through her body as those eerie green eyes were fixed directly at her.

"Even if it meant putting you in danger by angering me?"

Hold on a second… what was with this change in atmosphere? "Ah... I..."

"Your friends are here on this planet and based on what has been reported to me, they are directly involved in the kidnapping of one of my subjects." Those green eyes narrowed dangerously. “But you already knew all of that, didn’t you?”

Well, Lutecia did suspect that the two were on planet when she felt her device react to a Summon spell but kidnapping Yuuno? That was new to her although at least he’s been relocated to somewhere that’s safer. But that didn’t help now since at the moment, she had to deal with a rather upset Material-D. “Now hold on a sec…”

“Lähmung.”

The quick spell from the Lord of Darkness went off without a hitch as the Insect Summoner found that most of her lower body no longer responded to her. “W-what the…?”

"Now then… you’re going to tell me everything from the beginning. Otherwise, I’ll introduce you to some of my own summons." Yami held up a hand and brought forth some sort of… slug for lack of a better term but with tendrils and two antennae at its head. “And I assure you that being bonded to a Stinging Licid is very uncomfortable.”

Lutecia winced and only had one thought go through her head.

‘This is the worst!’

Had the script done yesterday and Yasanagi did some touch-ups on it.

So the Materials are taking Caro, Erio and the Alpines as hostages/barganing chips against the TSAB. What about Sette and and are they gonna take whatever was in Prison Boy's lab? And what about Yuuno, where is he and will he end up in another incident where he ends up back with the Materials, listen to Yami about the spell placed on him and her reasons for casting it which given Yuuno is pretty much the Messiah he automaticly forgives her, get the story about them going to fight the TSAB and have a slim chance of having a foursome between Yuuno and the Materials, all before they finally make it to Mid-Childa with the battle between the Materials who are at full power, if not above it, with those new finisher spells from Gears of Destiny at their disposal and the Aces and the rest of the TSAB?

On the Red World...

Staring at a mountain in the distance, and not thinking on much, he leaned back and smiled. His eyes were closed as usual, but there wasn't anything that he missed. "Carona, Lena..." He smirked as he felt the two appear behind him, both letting out waves of being upset that he had caught them. "Nice try."

"Daddy!" Lena stomped her foot and jumped on his head. "Why didn't you at least pretend to be caught?"

Xellos raised an eyebrow as his daughter clung to his head. "You know the answer to that."

"A secret." Both of his daughters said at the same time. "Why do you like to keep secrets so much?" Lena asked him as she squeezed his head more.

"If I told you, that would take away the fun."

"Come on, daddy!" Carona jumped in front of Xellos and gave him the cutest look she could muster. "Please?"

Xellos chuckled. It didn't take him long to realize that those two kids did all they could to get him to cave into their demands. In a way, it was really cute. "Unlike your mother, I'm not as easy to sway with cuteness, girls."

Carona pouted. "No fair! Mommy doesn't react when we're like this either and said you would."

Xellos raised an eyebrow. Rangort didn't budge when they were cute? He really did think that she would have caved into them a few times.

Then again, it was Rangort they were talking about. The last time he saw her after that battle against Shabranigdo, she had a most... Unusually relaxed look on her face.

That may have been because she was naked under a waterfall and washing off. Not that she needed it, since she could just make herself clean with a thought, but he found it rather amusing and quaint.

At least until she decided that she didn't like him oogling her ass and tits anymore and hit him on the head with a floating mountain.

Xellos rubbed his forehead. It wasn't like he kept himself hidden from her. Why'd she have to belt him with that mountain anyway?

"Where to next, daddy?" Lena asked as she jumped off of his head and stood next to her twin.

Xellos had a tight smile on his face. "Well, I have a few contacts under Dolphin that weren't fighting for Lord Ruby-Eye, I think we need to pay them a visit."

"Yay! Contacts!" Lena grinned and her fingers twitched. "If they lie, can I blow them up?"

"No fair!" Carona pouted. "I wanted to see if I could squeeze them until they popped!"

Xellos just smirked. He had to admit, for half Mazoku, half Shinzoku, these girls were rather vicious, at least some of the time.

He still felt nauseous when he remembered the two of them clearing a plague from that one town a day ago. It was enough to make him almost violently ill. Especially when he remembered how things were on those two continents on Lina's new home world.

As he stood up and they started walking off to the distance, none of them felt the need to teleport through the Astral plane at that moment, Xellos just shook his head. Even if he got sick from too many positive emotions and Rangort got weak around too many negative emotions, their children probably wouldn't suffer any.

After all, they could just feed off of any emotion that a person was feeling and feel just fine.

Xellos made a mental note to never let Amelia be around these two for too long. Half gods or not, he was almost certain that even she could make a Shinzoku feel ill from being around her for too long.

I think Amelia can make a Shinzoku ill by overloading them with TOO MUCH POSITIVE EMOTION, super charged with glucose and energy drinks...

Been reading quite a few Nanoha stories in the past year or so and I figured that I should give it a stab.

It was a stifling conflagration that ate away at the air, attempting to steal life from his lungs almost nearly at the same pace as he could draw it in. Beneath his battered and bleeding form lay the thankfully unconscious forms of two people close to his heart. Though at the rate that the oxygen was being devoured in the immediate area and from the wounds that had rendered then ignorant of the world, they were likely not to survive for very long.

With a pained groan, he struggled to his feet whilst being careful not to move either of the two. Debris and craters littered the area, the bodies of the unfortunate few caught in the initial assault lay among them. It was a self depreciating gratitude that he felt when he realized just how few visitors the Infinity Library actually got and how rarely anyone actually left the building during the day. A more popular place would have probably been painted red with the blood of the dead.

The sounds of battle rang out quite clearly as the rogue machines continued their wholesale slaughter, checked only be the combat mages actually able to withstand or penetrate their AMF. The number who could do so was not small, but they were still outnumbered by the mechanical assailants ten fold. Familiar beams of pink and yellow flashed in the distance. The massive battleships that had been commandeered by them loomed ominously in the lower atmosphere as they poured out reinforcements of all shapes and sizes.

He had to do something to help, but first he had to get them out of this fire else they would all die of asphyxiation and burns before blood loss. Familiar formulas that had become second nature nearly in his life flashed briefly in his mind, pulling together and shaping the mana within his body. A large, pale green circle lit up the ground beneath himself and his two companions before rising sharply and consuming all three. A few moments later, Yuuno, Hayate, and Vivio reappeared within the library's interior. The strong walls standing strong against the initial assault that had torn apart the streets and weaker buildings outside.

Removing his torn overcoat, Yuuno placed it over the bodies of the two females to keep them a little warm from the normal chill of the library. His hands glowed briefly as healing magics washed over the two to stabilize their vitals. Nodding that they both seemed like they'd pull through until proper medical attention came, he began gathering more mana. With grim determination and a dangerous gleam in his eyes, he reactivated the teleportation array and vanished.

Calling for reinforcements did not cross his mind, assuming any would even be able to come to his position at all. It had become his lot in life as of late, to support from the sidelines and be called in when all was said and done, if at all. The search algorithms he'd designed for the library to expedite the gathering of information had pushed him out even further. He rarely saw his friends anymore these days, save for Hayate, who had preferred to get the information from him in person, and Vivio, who he'd usually had to watch over when her mothers were unavailable.

Standing atop the Infinity Library, battered, bloody, and bruised, with glasses cracked and burns everywhere, Yuuno idly wondered if what he was about to do would be considered insane. Perhaps something inside of him had snapped, or maybe just wanted one chance to show he wasn't so useless as he believed many seemed to see him as. It might have even been something so simple as wanting to put up a fight against something that was hell bent on destroying everything he knew and loved.

Gathering up the considerable amount of mana produced within his Linker Core, Yuuno proceeded to cast the one of the strongest defensive spells in his arsenal. It was a simple spell known by many, but in Yuuno's hands, Round Shield was nothing less than a mighty aegis against some of the most powerful spells known. The spell itself did not take much mana, but that was for one shield. With a cascade of purple hued light, countless shields appeared, blanketing the Infinity LIbrary with a tall bulwark separating the massive mechanical army from Yuuno. The massive outpouring of magic drew the attention of the machines assaulting the city and a number of them broke off to deal with his now obvious location.

It was often assumed that the mastery of barriers, shields, and binds left one mostly useless in an offensive nature when that mage was by themselves. What many failed to realize was just how brutally effective those spells could be in an offensive role. That was a lesson Yuuno was going to unintentionally teach Mid-Childa this day.

Barriers are an interesting thing when one takes the time to think about it. It was something that the Head Librarian had done on more than a few sleepless nights since the Book of Darkness incident. What exactly was a Barrier? Was it more than something to shield yourself from an attacker or from hostile environs? A very disturbing yes had been the answer he'd found. A barrier did not stop an incoming Starlight Breaker. No, it denied the Breaker's ability to exist beyond the barrier's range of influence. A barrier was a denial against an existing force or property.

That was something that Yuuno had put to grim practice once before and had not done so ever since. Numerous barrier sprung to life as the flying machines began to draw close enough to open fire upon the cathedral-like shield array surrounding the library. As beams and bullets were stopped dead against his powerful shields, Yuuno bade his barriers, through mathematical command, to inflict themselves upon the machines and crush them flat. In rapid succession, the first dozen airborne craft that came too close were compressed between the young man's barriers.

Those that did not detonate upon rapid compression were smashed into plates no more than three centimeters thick. A rewrite of the barrier's formula launched these formerly hostile foes at those still remaining as though they were chakram. Some were split and others smashed, but most of the remaining machines that had come to assault Yuuno's stronghold were how no more than scrap. But machines learn and flew well beyond the range of the deadly barriers, opting to hurl their ordinance from a safe distance. Explosions rocked the area and fiery plumes lit up the air all around the library, but still the shields held.

Such distance did not falter the librarian's will. More barriers sprang into existence, setting to specifically programmed tasks as Yuuno directed them via will and motion of hand. Warped lampposts and rebar were twisted into wicked looking spiraled spears. Slabs of broken stone and cracked streets were sheared into lances. As each usable bit of debris was wrought into an impromptu projectile, they were pulled before Yuuno and a hand motion set into action another barrier. This barrier denied the lack of motion in all three axes, imposing upon it tremendous momentum and converting a once motionless object into a deadly comet. Hurled at such tremendous speed that some even glowed red hot from friction before lancing a machine too slow to evade, shredding the victims from the absurd forces placed upon them.

By now there were no more foes that he could sense, only see in the distance. The immediate region was clear of the merciless mechanical assailants, but Yuuno's now combat addled mind was searching. Searching for more enemies who would bring death and ruin to this world. Up above, one of the massive battleships emitted a massive and near blinding flash as the Arc en Ciel of a TSAB Navy warship finally managed a killing blow before being struck down itself. The two mortally wounded ships began their uncontrolled descent into the atmosphere, dragging down a second enemy ship and nailing shut their own coffins as the friction chewed them up with blazing jaws.

They would not be consumed so easily. Their mass was far too much to eat all at once. They wound fall upon the land and ravage it far worse than the machines had been able to in the short few hours of the attack. Not even Yuuno's barriers would hold against such an impact, nor could any mage or ship destroy enough in time. Even those that could generate such force would die in the effort or, far more likely, be shot down preparing for such a spell.

A moment of clarity fell over Yuuno's mind as the adrenaline peaked in his system. He was vaguely aware of the approaching figure of one of the Wolkenritter from low altitude, likely Vita, though she was still at a tremendous distance. The increased magical signature from one figure below alerted him to the awakening of Hayate. Still, all around him was clear, even the machines were moving clear as mages scurried to get as many people to safety as possible in the scant few minutes before the trio of wrecked ships fell upon the city. The machines, though fleeing for their mechanical hides as well, took up ever chance to kill anything in their path.

In this heightened state of awareness, Yuuno dropped his shield array and pulled together another bout of teleportation magic whilst sending a brief warning to the incoming Vita. Hayate and Vivio never knew what happened before they found themselves in midair, tossed neatly into the Hammer Knight's surprised arms. Though small in stature, her strength kept her from dropping either of her two sudden passengers. If was that and a one word warning from the Head Librarian that set her moving at top speed away from the Infinity Library with her master and young Vivio.

Now. Now Yuuno stood alone. The wind blew his blond hair about as he stood atop the library's tallest point. As best he knew, the impact of the three derelicts would ruin this land for ages to come and kill so many people from the fallout. Now was for what could be his final sacrifice, one last time to prove himself. Even if that proving was to himself.

Manipulating his barriers with such complex mathematical structures was no small feat. In fact the demand his brain placed on oxygen was forcing so much blood into his head that his ears and nose began to bleed as small capillaries burst under the pressure. He was pulling in the atmosphere and compressing it in an insanely fast rotation. Compressing it with such force that the sphere before him began to glow white hot. The blazing wrecks were even closer now, far too close. Yuuno idly wondered if time was really slowing down or if it was just his perception. A flash of light burst from the searing ball now held condensed beneath dozens upon dozens of shields and barriers.

It was now or never. Raising the complex spell-work containing his final gambit above his head, there seemed to be no sense of anything beyond what he was doing. There was no sound to his ears. No smell reached his nose. His body felt numb. Tunnel vision became black and white save for the colorful array in his hands. He reinforced the barriers behind the sphere until he could feel his Linker Core screaming in pain from the drainage.

He exhaled and broke the barriers facing the incoming battleships.

For a brief moment, Mid-Childa experienced man made sunrise. Silence followed the blinding flash for only a fraction of a second, then a terrifying roar as nuclear hellfire erupted from the roof of the Infinity Library. A star had been born, only to be sacrificed ruthlessly as a last ditch weapon conceived by one man. This was not magic, this was a horrendous massacre of physics at the hands of magic. The column of blazing atomic death consumed the derelict ships in one vicious wave, pushing them back before reducing them to their constituent particles and a spray of molten slag in an instant. Hellfire continued beyond into space, devouring another machine commanded battleship and wounding two TSAB ships before beginning to dissipate.

In the dying light of the micro-nova, Yuuno Scrya stood there. His arms were scorched, his clothes mostly ash, and wounds burned shut. As he closed his eyes, he wondered, had he finally proven himself?"

Well, for starters, this is impressive writing.

... Okay, you did not have much story for me to even comment about. So I'll just throw in a question: Did Yuuno fire a beam? Sun? Something? As his final effort, because I find this part really confusing. At first read it was supposed to be a barrier to hold against the falling ships. However, his effort apparently er... Arc-En-Ciel (Or even stronger) a ship and wounding two. Or is it that his barrier rejects the falling impact back to space (Which after multiple reads should be correct)? Anyway, it's just sound impossible. You're saying that Yuuno managed to block something equivalent or ten times more powerful than a warship cannon.

Other than that, well... well written.

To be honest, I wasn't really sure where I was going when I started other than wanting to write something... Probably a bad idea.

And to answer your questions involving the absolutely absurd and likely impossible things I had him do...

He did indeed make a miniature star and blow it up. Also, there weren't supposed to be any barriers to hold up the falling ships, just tons and tons of barriers to contain the nuclear reaction.

...I will say that this was a lot better than my first attempt at writing fanfiction. The grammatical errors alone would have put someone in the hospital.

It is good writing, just without a story. And don't worry about grammar errors, you're way past the stage where it's negligible.

The only one I have a dispute about is the creating star stuff, the others are just good. There's no reason to conform to a fixed mindset, especially since this is magic we're talking about.

If it was me, I'll probably have him create either an infinite amount of barrier chakrams or a few super large one and cut it from all sides. But whatever.

It had become his lot in life as of late, to support from the sidelines and be called in when all was said and done, if at all. The search algorithms he'd designed for the library to expedite the gathering of information had pushed him out even further. He rarely saw his friends anymore these days, save for Hayate, who had preferred to get the information from him in person, and Vivio, who he'd usually had to watch over when her mothers were unavailable.

Standing atop the Infinity Library, battered, bloody, and bruised, with glasses cracked and burns everywhere, Yuuno idly wondered if what he was about to do would be considered insane. Perhaps something inside of him had snapped, or maybe just wanted one chance to show he wasn't so useless as he believed many seemed to see him as. It might have even been something so simple as wanting to put up a fight against something that was hell bent on destroying everything he knew and loved.

Gathering up the considerable amount of mana produced within his Linker Core, Yuuno proceeded to cast the one of the strongest defensive spells in his arsenal. It was a simple spell known by many, but in Yuuno's hands, Round Shield was nothing less than a mighty aegis against some of the most powerful spells known. The spell itself did not take much mana, but that was for one shield. With a cascade of purple hued light, countless shields appeared, blanketing the Infinity LIbrary with a tall bulwark separating the massive mechanical army from Yuuno. The massive outpouring of magic drew the attention of the machines assaulting the city and a number of them broke off to deal with his now obvious location.

It was often assumed that the mastery of barriers, shields, and binds left one mostly useless in an offensive nature when that mage was by themselves. What many failed to realize was just how brutally effective those spells could be in an offensive role. That was a lesson Yuuno was going to unintentionally teach Mid-Childa this day.

Barriers are an interesting thing when one takes the time to think about it. It was something that the Head Librarian had done on more than a few sleepless nights since the Book of Darkness incident. What exactly was a Barrier? Was it more than something to shield yourself from an attacker or from hostile environs? A very disturbing yes had been the answer he'd found. A barrier did not stop an incoming Starlight Breaker. No, it denied the Breaker's ability to exist beyond the barrier's range of influence. A barrier was a denial against an existing force or property.

That was something that Yuuno had put to grim practice once before and had not done so ever since. Numerous barrier sprung to life as the flying machines began to draw close enough to open fire upon the cathedral-like shield array surrounding the library. As beams and bullets were stopped dead against his powerful shields, Yuuno bade his barriers, through mathematical command, to inflict themselves upon the machines and crush them flat. In rapid succession, the first dozen airborne craft that came too close were compressed between the young man's barriers.

Those that did not detonate upon rapid compression were smashed into plates no more than three centimeters thick. A rewrite of the barrier's formula launched these formerly hostile foes at those still remaining as though they were chakram. Some were split and others smashed, but most of the remaining machines that had come to assault Yuuno's stronghold were how no more than scrap. But machines learn and flew well beyond the range of the deadly barriers, opting to hurl their ordinance from a safe distance. Explosions rocked the area and fiery plumes lit up the air all around the library, but still the shields held.

Such distance did not falter the librarian's will. More barriers sprang into existence, setting to specifically programmed tasks as Yuuno directed them via will and motion of hand. Warped lampposts and rebar were twisted into wicked looking spiraled spears. Slabs of broken stone and cracked streets were sheared into lances. As each usable bit of debris was wrought into an impromptu projectile, they were pulled before Yuuno and a hand motion set into action another barrier. This barrier denied the lack of motion in all three axes, imposing upon it tremendous momentum and converting a once motionless object into a deadly comet. Hurled at such tremendous speed that some even glowed red hot from friction before lancing a machine too slow to evade, shredding the victims from the absurd forces placed upon them.

By now there were no more foes that he could sense, only see in the distance. The immediate region was clear of the merciless mechanical assailants, but Yuuno's now combat addled mind was searching. Searching for more enemies who would bring death and ruin to this world. Up above, one of the massive battleships emitted a massive and near blinding flash as the Arc en Ciel of a TSAB Navy warship finally managed a killing blow before being struck down itself. The two mortally wounded ships began their uncontrolled descent into the atmosphere, dragging down a second enemy ship and nailing shut their own coffins as the friction chewed them up with blazing jaws.

They would not be consumed so easily. Their mass was far too much to eat all at once. They wound fall upon the land and ravage it far worse than the machines had been able to in the short few hours of the attack. Not even Yuuno's barriers would hold against such an impact, nor could any mage or ship destroy enough in time. Even those that could generate such force would die in the effort or, far more likely, be shot down preparing for such a spell.

A moment of clarity fell over Yuuno's mind as the adrenaline peaked in his system. He was vaguely aware of the approaching figure of one of the Wolkenritter from low altitude, likely Vita, though she was still at a tremendous distance. The increased magical signature from one figure below alerted him to the awakening of Hayate. Still, all around him was clear, even the machines were moving clear as mages scurried to get as many people to safety as possible in the scant few minutes before the trio of wrecked ships fell upon the city. The machines, though fleeing for their mechanical hides as well, took up ever chance to kill anything in their path.

In this heightened state of awareness, Yuuno dropped his shield array and pulled together another bout of teleportation magic whilst sending a brief warning to the incoming Vita. Hayate and Vivio never knew what happened before they found themselves in midair, tossed neatly into the Hammer Knight's surprised arms. Though small in stature, her strength kept her from dropping either of her two sudden passengers. If was that and a one word warning from the Head Librarian that set her moving at top speed away from the Infinity Library with her master and young Vivio.

Now. Now Yuuno stood alone. The wind blew his blond hair about as he stood atop the library's tallest point. As best he knew, the impact of the three derelicts would ruin this land for ages to come and kill so many people from the fallout. Now was for what could be his final sacrifice, one last time to prove himself. Even if that proving was to himself.

Manipulating his barriers with such complex mathematical structures was no small feat. In fact the demand his brain placed on oxygen was forcing so much blood into his head that his ears and nose began to bleed as small capillaries burst under the pressure. He was pulling in the atmosphere and compressing it in an insanely fast rotation. Compressing it with such force that the sphere before him began to glow white hot. The blazing wrecks were even closer now, far too close. Yuuno idly wondered if time was really slowing down or if it was just his perception. A flash of light burst from the searing ball now held condensed beneath dozens upon dozens of shields and barriers.

It was now or never. Raising the complex spell-work containing his final gambit above his head, there seemed to be no sense of anything beyond what he was doing. There was no sound to his ears. No smell reached his nose. His body felt numb. Tunnel vision became black and white save for the colorful array in his hands. He reinforced the barriers behind the sphere until he could feel his Linker Core screaming in pain from the drainage.

He exhaled and broke the barriers facing the incoming battleships.

For a brief moment, Mid-Childa experienced man made sunrise. Silence followed the blinding flash for only a fraction of a second, then a terrifying roar as nuclear hellfire erupted from the roof of the Infinity Library. A star had been born, only to be sacrificed ruthlessly as a last ditch weapon conceived by one man. This was not magic, this was a horrendous massacre of physics at the hands of magic. The column of blazing atomic death consumed the derelict ships in one vicious wave, pushing them back before reducing them to their constituent particles and a spray of molten slag in an instant. Hellfire continued beyond into space, devouring another machine commanded battleship and wounding two TSAB ships before beginning to dissipate.

In the dying light of the micro-nova, Yuuno Scrya stood there. His arms were scorched, his clothes mostly ash, and wounds burned shut. As he closed his eyes, he wondered, had he finally proven himself?"

Wow. That's certainly thinking with barriers.

Well, considering I haven't really put up anything for quite awhile now, I thought I'd put up the first few scenes from the third chapter of the Perils sequel. The chapter itself is almost done, so hopefully I'll have the rest soon, but work has been really kicking my ass lately so I haven't had the time to write that I normally do.

Two men and one guardian beast stared.

Well, staring wouldn't be understating it, since anything greater than staring would result in eyeballs popping out of heads.

Just across the road and over the wall, construction was rapidly taking place as alterations were being made to the old Section Six building. It wasn't the new signs, or coats of sparkly rainbow paint, or multicolored flashing lights that particularly got their attention. In the grand scheme of things, that was rather tame. Nor was it the mass of mages flying back and forth, helping to create these new additions.

Not even the new sign that read "RAINBOW FORCE SIX" caused them to bat much of an eye. Although, the "Hayate's Lesbian Army" which someone had handwritten in smaller letters beneath that, gave the men a bit of a worried pause.

No, it was a certain Mistress of the Night Sky in a dominatrix outfit, walking back and forth giving directions while a mass of tentacles protruded from her back that enveloped several naked and squealing women, that caused their attention meters to spike. Also the fact that no one in the yard seemed to be finding any of this unusual. About the only ones who seemed to notice were the small group of people in hooded brown cloaks, following Hayate back and forth.

"What's that sound?" Chrono wondered aloud, straining his ears.

"I think they're...chanting?" Vice suggested uncertainly, focusing on Hayate's cloaked followers.

Zafira frowned, his dog ears twitching. "Yes, but I do no know what they are saying."

They leaned closer....

"...ph'nglui mglw'nafh Hayate Y'gami wgah'nagl fhtagn..."

...and exchanged confused looks.

"...I don't recognize it," Chrono admitted.

"Maybe it's really ancient Belkan?" Vice suggested.

Zafira shook his head. "No, I have some knowledge of the ancient Belkan languages, and it sounds nothing like that. But maybe Yuuno might know from his studies. Let's keep going." He stood up.

"Yes, we need to take action before Hayate's army gets even bigger," Chrono agreed, remaining in his seated position.

"It's, uh, definitely on the rise," Vice added, also making it a point not to stand.

Zafira, having moved several steps, paused to glance back. "Aren't we going?"

"Um, yeah, sure just a moment," Vice replied, shifting slightly, and then he cocked his head. "Is that... Alto? I didn't think she was so... flexible."

"Nor that Mariel would have been into... that," Chrono added in awe, barely blinking. "Can she even breathe?"

The perturbed guardian beast let off a short growl, then grabbed the two men by their collars and began to haul them off. "Focus on the mission!"

"Hey, I am!" Chrono insisted, shifting a bit uncomfortably once the guardian beast let go of them.

Vice's legs were posed a bit awkwardly as he bent over, making a show of dusting the dirt off his green jumpsuit. "And can you really blame us? You'd act the same way."

Zafira didn't bother turning to look at them. "I can assure you that I have considerably more control than a normal human. Now let's go."

The two human males glanced at each other, shrugged, and then hurried to catch up.

"I'm glad to see you all got Subaru's message!" Ginga noted with a smile as lead her sisters by the hand down the hallway.

"Where is Subaru, anyways?" Nove questioned from right behind Ginga, still unsure what was going on. "She said something about meeting us here."

"And what's with these blindfolds?" Wendi wondered aloud, holding Nove's hand.

"That makes the surprise all the more fun!" the eldest Nakajima sister gushed, then paused at a double doorway. "And regretfully, Subaru is on a mission, so that is why she had me greet you instead. Now, right through here. Everything will be made clear inside."

The other four Nakajima sisters tried to glance at each other as best as they could since they were blindfolded, before Dieci shrugged and said, "Well, what have we got to lose? Let's find out what this is all about."

"That's the spirit!" Ginga cheered, then pushed them through.

"Welcome, girls!"

"Is that... Hayate's voice?" Cinque wondered aloud, cocking her head.

"Correct!" the Wolkenritter mistress answered gleefully, as several dozen tentacles zipped toward the unsuspecting group.

The trio darted from the cover of a residential office complex, heading across the darkened street to the parking garage on the other side. After meeting up in the shadow of a doorway, they paused to glance around.

"I still don't understand why we don't just call him," Vice asked in a hushed whisper, pausing to sweep the area with his rifle's scope for any sign of pursuit.

"I told you, any call can be traced and Hayate probably has someone monitoring the military frequencies," Chrono repeated, awaiting the all clear. "We'll have to visit in person. I just don't understand why Yuuno is living at Nanoha's house with her and Fate now. They didn't mention anything to me about that."

Zafira shrugged. "I don't quite know myself, but apparently it was for some type of treatment."

"Well, whatever the reason, we could use all of their help," Chrono stated, straining his eyes against the darkness. "But we should stay moving, sticking to cover where we can. I've noticed that there are patrols coming from the direction we just came, so she is definitely looking for us."

"Or recruiting for her army," Zafira noted, glancing up.

The other two followed his gaze, noting the two half-naked female mages entwined about each other as they flew in the direction of Hayate's new command center.

Vice scratched his head. "How do they even maintain flight concentration like that?"

"Practice, Sergeant Major Vice Granscenic," came an amused female voice from the shadows within the parking garage. The three stared as Signum stepped into the light, a knowing smile on her lips. "Lots of practice. Shall I show you how?" She opened the front of her knight armor a little, showcasing quite a bit of cleavage.

There was a very pregnant pause, and then Chrono elbowed him. "Focus! We have a mission here!"

Vice rubbed his side, perturbed. "I was thinking!" Then he paused before asking, "How did they even find us, anyway?"

"Ask Admiral Harlaown there," Signum replied, making no effort to hide the way her chest was attempting to escape with each movement of her upper torso. "He trained Fate, who trained Teana. She deduced that, with the starport covered and our agents infiltrating the ground headquarters as we speak, there was probably only one place left for you to go... so we jumped ahead and waited at several different spots."

"You should really join us!" Shamal gushed, moving her legs just so to showcase the new long slit up the side of her dress that showed a bared hip. "You'll have a lot of fun!"

Chrono swallowed, hard, and tried to think of his marriage vows. "Sorry, but we're, uh, not interested." He glanced over and kicked Vice's leg. "Most of us, anyway."

Zafira lowered his voice as Shamal giggled. "We cannot delay here, nor can we afford a fight that will attract others. Speed is our ally now; you two escape while I cover for you."

"You can't take both of them yourself!" Chrono hissed back.

"I only need to delay them, which I can do since I know their fighting styles," he countered, then his voice took on a derogatory tone. "And I am immune to the seduction from human women."

Chrono couldn't fault the logic; this situation was dangerous, in more than one sense of the word. He nodded at Vice, and in the next moment, the action started.

Chrono fired off a wave of Stinger Shots to cover their retreat, although Signum tanked it head on. As she came streaking in with her sword raised, Zafira's Steel Yoke whip found her ankle which yanked her over and slammed her into a concrete wall. Then Chrono and Vice were sprinting out of the parking garage, and Zafira turned his attention to Shamal as the latter let loose a mass of green threads. He dove and rolled to avoid the binds, changing into his wolf form while unleashing several white spikes from the ground, but Shamal promptly vanished in a short teleport hop.

He knew he had to keep moving, but with Signum emerging from her hole and Shamal sending more and more binds at him, the tide would soon turn against him; still he needed to keep them both occupied as long as he could. "I won't let you pass, no matter what!"

"You really think so?" Shamal taunted in a manner that unnerved Zafira. Especially with the way Signum was now just standing there, smiling and not attacking. "We were actually counting on you to stay behind and delay us. We figured we'd have to deal with you first, and we needed you alone and in your wolf form... for this!"

A strange scent hit the guardian beast's nose, something that made him strangely anxious. And then Arf strolled into the area in her own full animal form, moving back and forth, her tail tilted at an odd angle. She gave him a look, and then paused to lick herself. It was a simple motion, but it caused his ears to droop, and his lower lip to quiver in a whimper.

And then she turned around and presented her backside to him, while raising her tail and lowering her head to the floor, her behind swaying slightly back and forth with a twitching tail. To a normal human, it wouldn't have had any effect. But as Zafira liked to remind people: he was a wolf, not a human.

As he roared and surged forward, Zafira learned that not even he was immune to call of the wild.

"Well, that was easier than I thought," Sigum remarked, strolling up next to Shamal.

"Wow, look at him go," Shamal commented in awe. "Reminds me of the times I caught him using his Real Bitch many years ago." She paused and licked her lips. "And it still, oddly, turns me on." She glanced over at Signum with a suggestive gaze.

The Belkan Knight's eyes widened; while she found she was still learning new things about her Wolkenritter partner everyday, she often wondered whether they were things she wanted to learn.

"Mr. Gourry." The blonde swordsman turned to see an old friend walk up to him.

"Hey, Amelia, what's up?" He waved and stood up while holding his son.

The younger princess of Seiryuun smiled at him as she nodded to one of the off-worlders that were helping rebuild the city. It was amazing how fast they were working. It had only been a few days since that battle, but amazingly, the city was mostly rebuilt, other than a few buildings that had minor damages to them. "What are you and Miss Sylphiel planning on doing?"

Gourry shrugged at that. "Don't know, actually. We were planning on staying here and helping out, but..."

"Yes, well..." Amelia sighed softly. "Poor daddy, he nearly had a fit when he saw the damage from the battle."

"BOOM!" Gourry's son chirped in, giggling. "Big crab go boom!"

Gourry chuckled softly. "Hey, Amelia, I was wondering, if your dad was the Prince, and you and your sisters are Princesses, who was running the whole kingdom?"

"I thought we explained this to you." Amelia sighed as Gourry got a confused look on his face. "Until recently, it was my grandfather who was King, but he was very ill for very long, so my father took charge. Sadly, my grandfather passed away not too long ago." Even if she didn't know her grandfather that well, it was still sad to see her family pass away.

Even the family members who made deals with Mazoku and betrayed the kingdom. Seeing them die was painful for her.

"Oh... So Phil is now the King?"

"Yep!" Amelia smiled brightly. She was about to say something more when someone tapped her on the shoulder. She turned her head slightly and blinked as someone whispered to her. "Oh, well, I'm sorry, Mr. Gourry, but my father's calling for an assembly about some ambassadors that have shown up from the outer world."

Gourry nodded as Amelia turned and left. "Huh, so, now what?"

"WHOOSH!" His son kicked his legs up and down and Gourry nodded.

"Alright, we'll do that." He chuckled as he put his son down on the ground, laughing as his son ran from him. "You better hurry, or I'll get you." He yelled as he plodded on after his son.

The little boy squealed as he tried to outrun his father.

In the distance, Sylphiel smiled as she watched Gourry play with his son. She didn't know if what she had dreamed was real or not. Even if premonitions weren't uncommon among Shrine Maidens, and Sylphiel didn't think she qualified for that anymore, since she had a child, she had never had those kind of dreams herself.

Though, if her dream was a vision of the future, she wasn't afraid of it.

Meanwhile...

Xellos merely raised an eyebrow as Rangort appeared in front of them. He was a touch surprised that she bothered to show up, he had thought that she was angry at him. Then again, she was angry at a lot of things.

"Mommy!" The twins squealed and glomped Rangort.

The dusky-skinned Shinzoku smiled at them and knelt down to give them a hug. "Hey, Carona, Lena, how are you two?"

"Good! We wiped out a plague that was slowly killing a village off." Carona smiled at her mother brightly.

Rangort chuckled as she hugged her children. "That's good. Now, why don't you two go visit uncle Valwin for awhile? I need to have a talk with your father."

"Okay, mommy!" Both chirped and disappeared.

Rangort smirked at Xellos as she stood up fully. "You know, Xellos... Spying on me under a waterfall wasn't very nice."

Xellos gave her a thin smile. "It's not like I was hiding myself. I'm pretty sure that you saw me at least five times."

Rangort stood up and twitched. "Now I understand what Ragradia's complaints about her boyfriend in the past were all about. You're an idiot."

Xellos twitched. He was used to Lina calling him an idiot, not a Shinzoku. "Excuse me?"

"I was naked, in the waterfall long enough for the day to go from mid-morning to mid-afternoon, and all you did was sit there watching me?" The large-breasted Shinzoku spoke, her voice tight. The next thing Xellos knew, he was on his back with her kneeling above him, her eyes narrowed. "Did I need to give you an engraved invitation?"

Xellos was about to say something when she growled at him. "Yes?"

"I personally blame you and that chocolate Dolphin fed us." Rangort seethed before willing her clothing away. "But for now, you're going to... Help me."

Xellos just smiled. Well, he wasn't going to turn down her invitation this time at least. "Though, it would be... Prudent to not lose control of ourselves again."

"Agreed." Rangort nodded as Xellos grabbed her large breasts. Even if the act was similar to what humans did, the two of them could just enjoy the sensations and nothing else.

"Agreed." Rangort nodded as Xellos grabbed her large breasts. Even if the act was similar to what humans did, the two of them could just enjoy the sensations and nothing else.

I'm relatively new to the author scene, but I hope to improve myself to the point of actually having dialogue and maybe even a plot.

Been reading quite a few Nanoha stories in the past year or so and I figured that I should give it a stab.

"He could feel the searing heat all around him. It was a stifling conflagration that ate away at the air, attempting to steal life from his lungs almost nearly at the same pace as he could draw it in. Beneath his battered and bleeding form lay the thankfully unconscious forms of two people close to his heart. Though at the rate that the oxygen was being devoured in the immediate area and from the wounds that had rendered then ignorant of the world, they were likely not to survive for very long.

With a pained groan, he struggled to his feet whilst being careful not to move either of the two. Debris and craters littered the area, the bodies of the unfortunate few caught in the initial assault lay among them. It was a self depreciating gratitude that he felt when he realized just how few visitors the Infinity Library actually got and how rarely anyone actually left the building during the day. A more popular place would have probably been painted red with the blood of the dead.

The sounds of battle rang out quite clearly as the rogue machines continued their wholesale slaughter, checked only be the combat mages actually able to withstand or penetrate their AMF. The number who could do so was not small, but they were still outnumbered by the mechanical assailants ten fold. Familiar beams of pink and yellow flashed in the distance. The massive battleships that had been commandeered by them loomed ominously in the lower atmosphere as they poured out reinforcements of all shapes and sizes.

He had to do something to help, but first he had to get them out of this fire else they would all die of asphyxiation and burns before blood loss. Familiar formulas that had become second nature nearly in his life flashed briefly in his mind, pulling together and shaping the mana within his body. A large, pale green circle lit up the ground beneath himself and his two companions before rising sharply and consuming all three. A few moments later, Yuuno, Hayate, and Vivio reappeared within the library's interior. The strong walls standing strong against the initial assault that had torn apart the streets and weaker buildings outside.

Removing his torn overcoat, Yuuno placed it over the bodies of the two females to keep them a little warm from the normal chill of the library. His hands glowed briefly as healing magics washed over the two to stabilize their vitals. Nodding that they both seemed like they'd pull through until proper medical attention came, he began gathering more mana. With grim determination and a dangerous gleam in his eyes, he reactivated the teleportation array and vanished.

Calling for reinforcements did not cross his mind, assuming any would even be able to come to his position at all. It had become his lot in life as of late, to support from the sidelines and be called in when all was said and done, if at all. The search algorithms he'd designed for the library to expedite the gathering of information had pushed him out even further. He rarely saw his friends anymore these days, save for Hayate, who had preferred to get the information from him in person, and Vivio, who he'd usually had to watch over when her mothers were unavailable.

Standing atop the Infinity Library, battered, bloody, and bruised, with glasses cracked and burns everywhere, Yuuno idly wondered if what he was about to do would be considered insane. Perhaps something inside of him had snapped, or maybe just wanted one chance to show he wasn't so useless as he believed many seemed to see him as. It might have even been something so simple as wanting to put up a fight against something that was hell bent on destroying everything he knew and loved.

Gathering up the considerable amount of mana produced within his Linker Core, Yuuno proceeded to cast the one of the strongest defensive spells in his arsenal. It was a simple spell known by many, but in Yuuno's hands, Round Shield was nothing less than a mighty aegis against some of the most powerful spells known. The spell itself did not take much mana, but that was for one shield. With a cascade of purple hued light, countless shields appeared, blanketing the Infinity LIbrary with a tall bulwark separating the massive mechanical army from Yuuno. The massive outpouring of magic drew the attention of the machines assaulting the city and a number of them broke off to deal with his now obvious location.

It was often assumed that the mastery of barriers, shields, and binds left one mostly useless in an offensive nature when that mage was by themselves. What many failed to realize was just how brutally effective those spells could be in an offensive role. That was a lesson Yuuno was going to unintentionally teach Mid-Childa this day.

Barriers are an interesting thing when one takes the time to think about it. It was something that the Head Librarian had done on more than a few sleepless nights since the Book of Darkness incident. What exactly was a Barrier? Was it more than something to shield yourself from an attacker or from hostile environs? A very disturbing yes had been the answer he'd found. A barrier did not stop an incoming Starlight Breaker. No, it denied the Breaker's ability to exist beyond the barrier's range of influence. A barrier was a denial against an existing force or property.

That was something that Yuuno had put to grim practice once before and had not done so ever since. Numerous barrier sprung to life as the flying machines began to draw close enough to open fire upon the cathedral-like shield array surrounding the library. As beams and bullets were stopped dead against his powerful shields, Yuuno bade his barriers, through mathematical command, to inflict themselves upon the machines and crush them flat. In rapid succession, the first dozen airborne craft that came too close were compressed between the young man's barriers.

Those that did not detonate upon rapid compression were smashed into plates no more than three centimeters thick. A rewrite of the barrier's formula launched these formerly hostile foes at those still remaining as though they were chakram. Some were split and others smashed, but most of the remaining machines that had come to assault Yuuno's stronghold were how no more than scrap. But machines learn and flew well beyond the range of the deadly barriers, opting to hurl their ordinance from a safe distance. Explosions rocked the area and fiery plumes lit up the air all around the library, but still the shields held.

Such distance did not falter the librarian's will. More barriers sprang into existence, setting to specifically programmed tasks as Yuuno directed them via will and motion of hand. Warped lampposts and rebar were twisted into wicked looking spiraled spears. Slabs of broken stone and cracked streets were sheared into lances. As each usable bit of debris was wrought into an impromptu projectile, they were pulled before Yuuno and a hand motion set into action another barrier. This barrier denied the lack of motion in all three axes, imposing upon it tremendous momentum and converting a once motionless object into a deadly comet. Hurled at such tremendous speed that some even glowed red hot from friction before lancing a machine too slow to evade, shredding the victims from the absurd forces placed upon them.

By now there were no more foes that he could sense, only see in the distance. The immediate region was clear of the merciless mechanical assailants, but Yuuno's now combat addled mind was searching. Searching for more enemies who would bring death and ruin to this world. Up above, one of the massive battleships emitted a massive and near blinding flash as the Arc en Ciel of a TSAB Navy warship finally managed a killing blow before being struck down itself. The two mortally wounded ships began their uncontrolled descent into the atmosphere, dragging down a second enemy ship and nailing shut their own coffins as the friction chewed them up with blazing jaws.

They would not be consumed so easily. Their mass was far too much to eat all at once. They wound fall upon the land and ravage it far worse than the machines had been able to in the short few hours of the attack. Not even Yuuno's barriers would hold against such an impact, nor could any mage or ship destroy enough in time. Even those that could generate such force would die in the effort or, far more likely, be shot down preparing for such a spell.

A moment of clarity fell over Yuuno's mind as the adrenaline peaked in his system. He was vaguely aware of the approaching figure of one of the Wolkenritter from low altitude, likely Vita, though she was still at a tremendous distance. The increased magical signature from one figure below alerted him to the awakening of Hayate. Still, all around him was clear, even the machines were moving clear as mages scurried to get as many people to safety as possible in the scant few minutes before the trio of wrecked ships fell upon the city. The machines, though fleeing for their mechanical hides as well, took up ever chance to kill anything in their path.

In this heightened state of awareness, Yuuno dropped his shield array and pulled together another bout of teleportation magic whilst sending a brief warning to the incoming Vita. Hayate and Vivio never knew what happened before they found themselves in midair, tossed neatly into the Hammer Knight's surprised arms. Though small in stature, her strength kept her from dropping either of her two sudden passengers. If was that and a one word warning from the Head Librarian that set her moving at top speed away from the Infinity Library with her master and young Vivio.

Now. Now Yuuno stood alone. The wind blew his blond hair about as he stood atop the library's tallest point. As best he knew, the impact of the three derelicts would ruin this land for ages to come and kill so many people from the fallout. Now was for what could be his final sacrifice, one last time to prove himself. Even if that proving was to himself.

Manipulating his barriers with such complex mathematical structures was no small feat. In fact the demand his brain placed on oxygen was forcing so much blood into his head that his ears and nose began to bleed as small capillaries burst under the pressure. He was pulling in the atmosphere and compressing it in an insanely fast rotation. Compressing it with such force that the sphere before him began to glow white hot. The blazing wrecks were even closer now, far too close. Yuuno idly wondered if time was really slowing down or if it was just his perception. A flash of light burst from the searing ball now held condensed beneath dozens upon dozens of shields and barriers.

It was now or never. Raising the complex spell-work containing his final gambit above his head, there seemed to be no sense of anything beyond what he was doing. There was no sound to his ears. No smell reached his nose. His body felt numb. Tunnel vision became black and white save for the colorful array in his hands. He reinforced the barriers behind the sphere until he could feel his Linker Core screaming in pain from the drainage.

He exhaled and broke the barriers facing the incoming battleships.

For a brief moment, Mid-Childa experienced man made sunrise. Silence followed the blinding flash for only a fraction of a second, then a terrifying roar as nuclear hellfire erupted from the roof of the Infinity Library. A star had been born, only to be sacrificed ruthlessly as a last ditch weapon conceived by one man. This was not magic, this was a horrendous massacre of physics at the hands of magic. The column of blazing atomic death consumed the derelict ships in one vicious wave, pushing them back before reducing them to their constituent particles and a spray of molten slag in an instant. Hellfire continued beyond into space, devouring another machine commanded battleship and wounding two TSAB ships before beginning to dissipate.

In the dying light of the micro-nova, Yuuno Scrya stood there. His arms were scorched, his clothes mostly ash, and wounds burned shut. As he closed his eyes, he wondered, had he finally proven himself?"

This was quite good, though it feels like there's a ting of purple prose in here. A few other errors and one redundancy: "The strong walls standing strong"

No problem with Yuuno's final attack. Did you explicitly take that from To Aru Majutsu no Index when Accelerator compressed air to form plasma, or is that just a coincidence?

A bigger issue, though, is that the Infinite Library is not located on Mid Childa. It's in the TSAB HQ, which is that big spikey thing up in dimensional space. It's essentially a massive space colony.

Still, it was nice you gave Yuuno some glory. I'm actually interested in Hayate and Vivio's thoughts after the event.

"Mr. Gourry." The blonde swordsman turned to see an old friend walk up to him.

"Hey, Amelia, what's up?" He waved and stood up while holding his son.

The younger princess of Seiryuun smiled at him as she nodded to one of the off-worlders that were helping rebuild the city. It was amazing how fast they were working. It had only been a few days since that battle, but amazingly, the city was mostly rebuilt, other than a few buildings that had minor damages to them. "What are you and Miss Sylphiel planning on doing?"

Gourry shrugged at that. "Don't know, actually. We were planning on staying here and helping out, but..."

"Yes, well..." Amelia sighed softly. "Poor daddy, he nearly had a fit when he saw the damage from the battle."

"BOOM!" Gourry's son chirped in, giggling. "Big crab go boom!"

Gourry chuckled softly. "Hey, Amelia, I was wondering, if your dad was the Prince, and you and your sisters are Princesses, who was running the whole kingdom?"

"I thought we explained this to you." Amelia sighed as Gourry got a confused look on his face. "Until recently, it was my grandfather who was King, but he was very ill for very long, so my father took charge. Sadly, my grandfather passed away not too long ago." Even if she didn't know her grandfather that well, it was still sad to see her family pass away.

Even the family members who made deals with Mazoku and betrayed the kingdom. Seeing them die was painful for her.

"Oh... So Phil is now the King?"

"Yep!" Amelia smiled brightly. She was about to say something more when someone tapped her on the shoulder. She turned her head slightly and blinked as someone whispered to her. "Oh, well, I'm sorry, Mr. Gourry, but my father's calling for an assembly about some ambassadors that have shown up from the outer world."

Gourry nodded as Amelia turned and left. "Huh, so, now what?"

"WHOOSH!" His son kicked his legs up and down and Gourry nodded.

"Alright, we'll do that." He chuckled as he put his son down on the ground, laughing as his son ran from him. "You better hurry, or I'll get you." He yelled as he plodded on after his son.

The little boy squealed as he tried to outrun his father.

In the distance, Sylphiel smiled as she watched Gourry play with his son. She didn't know if what she had dreamed was real or not. Even if premonitions weren't uncommon among Shrine Maidens, and Sylphiel didn't think she qualified for that anymore, since she had a child, she had never had those kind of dreams herself.

Though, if her dream was a vision of the future, she wasn't afraid of it.

Xellos merely raised an eyebrow as Rangort appeared in front of them. He was a touch surprised that she bothered to show up, he had thought that she was angry at him. Then again, she was angry at a lot of things.

"Mommy!" The twins squealed and glomped Rangort.

The dusky-skinned Shinzoku smiled at them and knelt down to give them a hug. "Hey, Carona, Lena, how are you two?"

"Good! We wiped out a plague that was slowly killing a village off." Carona smiled at her mother brightly.

Rangort chuckled as she hugged her children. "That's good. Now, why don't you two go visit uncle Valwin for awhile? I need to have a talk with your father."

"Okay, mommy!" Both chirped and disappeared.

Rangort smirked at Xellos as she stood up fully. "You know, Xellos... Spying on me under a waterfall wasn't very nice."

Xellos gave her a thin smile. "It's not like I was hiding myself. I'm pretty sure that you saw me at least five times."

Rangort stood up and twitched. "Now I understand what Ragradia's complaints about her boyfriend in the past were all about. You're an idiot."

Xellos twitched. He was used to Lina calling him an idiot, not a Shinzoku. "Excuse me?"

"I was naked, in the waterfall long enough for the day to go from mid-morning to mid-afternoon, and all you did was sit there watching me?" The large-breasted Shinzoku spoke, her voice tight. The next thing Xellos knew, he was on his back with her kneeling above him, her eyes narrowed. "Did I need to give you an engraved invitation?"

Xellos was about to say something when she growled at him. "Yes?"

"I'd say I was impressed with mother, if I didn't know her so well..." Chrono trailed off and looked into the sky as he sighed. It had only been about five weeks since he had gotten back from that mission against Shabranigdo. Five weeks since Amy and Filia had told him that he had gotten them both pregnant. How the heck was he supposed to react to that? He was a teenager, granted, one with a lot of self control, but Filia and Amy were both good looking, and really, it was all Filia's fault, saying that she was open to a three-way relationship.

And of course, Amy went along with it, saying that she would rather share him with Filia than lose him for good. While such a statement did wonders for his ego, he really didn't think he could have gotten Filia pregnant. She wasn't even his species, how the heck did he get her pregnant?

Even so, he couldn't just leave them to take care of the children on their own. He didn't doubt that they couldn't. Hell, he was almost certain that they'd be better parents than he could be. No, he wasn't going to be one of those bums who just got a woman pregnant and then left her alone. He knew how hard it was for a single parent to raise a child alone.

"I'm still surprised that she had most of this stuff lined up months ago, Chrono." Chrono looked at the person sitting next to him and started to snicker. "What?"

"Your hair is almost back to normal, ferret boy." Chrono smirked at him. "And why didn't your device stop them from dying your hair again?"

Yuuno twitched and ran a hand through his hair. He thought that Arisa and Fate's little... Revenge was too much. Putting enough hair dye on his scalp to make his formerly blonde hair green, with orange and dark spots was just not funny. Especially at school. He still got snickers from everyone, even though Fate and Arisa had both admitted to dying his hair.

How they made it last, he wasn't sure.

"They took their clothes off and let me take pictures."

Yuuno and Chrono both blinked. "Really?" They asked at the same time.

"No."

Chrono and Yuuno both nearly fell over at that. "Thooooth..." Yuuno grumbled at his device. "Just what did they do to make you not tell?"

"I'm sorry, boss, but..."

"If you don't tell me, I'm going to take you to Mary and have her wipe your personality." Yuuno interrupted, his eye twitching erratically.

"They dyed your hair while not wearing a shirt or bra, boss. Arisa's tits are bigger than I thought they were."

Chrono snickered at that thought. "And I don't suppose you recorded it, huh?"

"You kidding?"

Yuuno and Chrono both stared as images of a topless Fate and Arisa popped up in front of them, grabbing Yuuno's hair and working in various dyes into his hair. "Enough!" Yuuno snapped, pushing a button to get the images to turn off. The last thing he needed was his hormones to work overtime again.

He wasn't sure just where he was getting dreams of a naked Riksfalto from, even if her body was incredibly hot, lately, and it was bothering him. A lot.

"Boss, if you want, I can show you what they did to get me to keep quiet."

"Huh?" Yuuno blinked and his nose started bleeding, as did Chrono's, as an image of Fate and Arisa hugging and actually making out was displayed. That was hot enough in and of itself, but seeing their naked chests pressing up against each other and Arisa leaning into it, and...

"Is she frenching Fate?" Chrono asked, his eyes glazed over.

"I didn't think Fate was into girls like that..." Yuuno muttered as the two broke apart, panting and winking at Thoth.

"Hey, Yuuno, you should know that Fate's one hell of a kisser." Arisa smirked at him. "Next time, don't use me and Caro to play a joke on Fate. It's not very nice."

Fate nodded in the image as it shut off.

"Do you think that they're lesbians?" Chrono asked, wiping at his nose. Damn, that was pretty intense. It reminded him of the times he caught Amy and Filia messing around when he wasn't around.

"Nah, they told me that they were just doing it to mess with boss."

"I... Uh..." Yuuno twitched. "Excuse me." A moment later, he disappeared in a flash as he teleported away.

Chrono didn't blame him. Of course, Chrono could deal with his problems in another way. A second later and he followed his friend's example and disappeared from the park all together.

"Chrono!" Amy smiled as she and Filia saw him appear in the living room. "I thought you were..." Anything more she was going to say was cut off as Chrono grabbed her and kissed her. Before she could react, he broke the kiss, leaving her to sink to her knees as Chrono grabbed Filia and kissed her on the lips.

Unseen to the adults, Val walked in, saw the situation, and turned around, saying he was going to go over and play with Arashi.

The young Dragon always said that his parents kissing was just yucky.

"Uh... what?" Filia blinked as Chrono walked out of the room.

"You two going to sit there all day?" Chrono smirked at them.

Filia and Amy looked at each other, grinned and ran after him. It wasn't every day that Chrono was like this. They weren't going to miss out on this.

Two men and one guardian beast stared.

Well, staring wouldn't be understating it, since anything greater than staring would result in eyeballs popping out of heads.

Just across the road and over the wall, construction was rapidly taking place as alterations were being made to the old Section Six building. It wasn't the new signs, or coats of sparkly rainbow paint, or multicolored flashing lights that particularly got their attention. In the grand scheme of things, that was rather tame. Nor was it the mass of mages flying back and forth, helping to create these new additions.

Not even the new sign that read "RAINBOW FORCE SIX" caused them to bat much of an eye. Although, the "Hayate's Lesbian Army" which someone had handwritten in smaller letters beneath that, gave the men a bit of a worried pause.

No, it was a certain Mistress of the Night Sky in a dominatrix outfit, walking back and forth giving directions while a mass of tentacles protruded from her back that enveloped several naked and squealing women, that caused their attention meters to spike. Also the fact that no one in the yard seemed to be finding any of this unusual. About the only ones who seemed to notice were the small group of people in hooded brown cloaks, following Hayate back and forth.

"What's that sound?" Chrono wondered aloud, straining his ears.

"I think they're...chanting?" Vice suggested uncertainly, focusing on Hayate's cloaked followers.

Zafira frowned, his dog ears twitching. "Yes, but I do no know what they are saying."

They leaned closer....

"...ph'nglui mglw'nafh Hayate Y'gami wgah'nagl fhtagn..."

...and exchanged confused looks.

"...I don't recognize it," Chrono admitted.

"Maybe it's really ancient Belkan?" Vice suggested.

Zafira shook his head. "No, I have some knowledge of the ancient Belkan languages, and it sounds nothing like that. But maybe Yuuno might know from his studies. Let's keep going." He stood up.

"Yes, we need to take action before Hayate's army gets even bigger," Chrono agreed, remaining in his seated position.

"It's, uh, definitely on the rise," Vice added, also making it a point not to stand.

Zafira, having moved several steps, paused to glance back. "Aren't we going?"

"Um, yeah, sure just a moment," Vice replied, shifting slightly, and then he cocked his head. "Is that... Alto? I didn't think she was so... flexible."

"Nor that Mariel would have been into... that," Chrono added in awe, barely blinking. "Can she even breathe?"

The perturbed guardian beast let off a short growl, then grabbed the two men by their collars and began to haul them off. "Focus on the mission!"

"Hey, I am!" Chrono insisted, shifting a bit uncomfortably once the guardian beast let go of them.

Vice's legs were posed a bit awkwardly as he bent over, making a show of dusting the dirt off his green jumpsuit. "And can you really blame us? You'd act the same way."

Zafira didn't bother turning to look at them. "I can assure you that I have considerably more control than a normal human. Now let's go."

The two human males glanced at each other, shrugged, and then hurried to catch up.

"I'm glad to see you all got Subaru's message!" Ginga noted with a smile as lead her sisters by the hand down the hallway.

"Where is Subaru, anyways?" Nove questioned from right behind Ginga, still unsure what was going on. "She said something about meeting us here."

"And what's with these blindfolds?" Wendi wondered aloud, holding Nove's hand.

"That makes the surprise all the more fun!" the eldest Nakajima sister gushed, then paused at a double doorway. "And regretfully, Subaru is on a mission, so that is why she had me greet you instead. Now, right through here. Everything will be made clear inside."

The other four Nakajima sisters tried to glance at each other as best as they could since they were blindfolded, before Dieci shrugged and said, "Well, what have we got to lose? Let's find out what this is all about."

"That's the spirit!" Ginga cheered, then pushed them through.

"Welcome, girls!"

"Is that... Hayate's voice?" Cinque wondered aloud, cocking her head.

"Correct!" the Wolkenritter mistress answered gleefully, as several dozen tentacles zipped toward the unsuspecting group.

The trio darted from the cover of a residential office complex, heading across the darkened street to the parking garage on the other side. After meeting up in the shadow of a doorway, they paused to glance around.

"I still don't understand why we don't just call him," Vice asked in a hushed whisper, pausing to sweep the area with his rifle's scope for any sign of pursuit.

"I told you, any call can be traced and Hayate probably has someone monitoring the military frequencies," Chrono repeated, awaiting the all clear. "We'll have to visit in person. I just don't understand why Yuuno is living at Nanoha's house with her and Fate now. They didn't mention anything to me about that."

Zafira shrugged. "I don't quite know myself, but apparently it was for some type of treatment."

"Well, whatever the reason, we could use all of their help," Chrono stated, straining his eyes against the darkness. "But we should stay moving, sticking to cover where we can. I've noticed that there are patrols coming from the direction we just came, so she is definitely looking for us."

"Or recruiting for her army," Zafira noted, glancing up.

The other two followed his gaze, noting the two half-naked female mages entwined about each other as they flew in the direction of Hayate's new command center.

Vice scratched his head. "How do they even maintain flight concentration like that?"

"Practice, Sergeant Major Vice Granscenic," came an amused female voice from the shadows within the parking garage. The three stared as Signum stepped into the light, a knowing smile on her lips. "Lots of practice. Shall I show you how?" She opened the front of her knight armor a little, showcasing quite a bit of cleavage.

There was a very pregnant pause, and then Chrono elbowed him. "Focus! We have a mission here!"

Vice rubbed his side, perturbed. "I was thinking!" Then he paused before asking, "How did they even find us, anyway?"

"Ask Admiral Harlaown there," Signum replied, making no effort to hide the way her chest was attempting to escape with each movement of her upper torso. "He trained Fate, who trained Teana. She deduced that, with the starport covered and our agents infiltrating the ground headquarters as we speak, there was probably only one place left for you to go... so we jumped ahead and waited at several different spots."

"You should really join us!" Shamal gushed, moving her legs just so to showcase the new long slit up the side of her dress that showed a bared hip. "You'll have a lot of fun!"

Chrono swallowed, hard, and tried to think of his marriage vows. "Sorry, but we're, uh, not interested." He glanced over and kicked Vice's leg. "Most of us, anyway."

Zafira lowered his voice as Shamal giggled. "We cannot delay here, nor can we afford a fight that will attract others. Speed is our ally now; you two escape while I cover for you."

"You can't take both of them yourself!" Chrono hissed back.

"I only need to delay them, which I can do since I know their fighting styles," he countered, then his voice took on a derogatory tone. "And I am immune to the seduction from human women."

Chrono couldn't fault the logic; this situation was dangerous, in more than one sense of the word. He nodded at Vice, and in the next moment, the action started.

Chrono fired off a wave of Stinger Shots to cover their retreat, although Signum tanked it head on. As she came streaking in with her sword raised, Zafira's Steel Yoke whip found her ankle which yanked her over and slammed her into a concrete wall. Then Chrono and Vice were sprinting out of the parking garage, and Zafira turned his attention to Shamal as the latter let loose a mass of green threads. He dove and rolled to avoid the binds, changing into his wolf form while unleashing several white spikes from the ground, but Shamal promptly vanished in a short teleport hop.

He knew he had to keep moving, but with Signum emerging from her hole and Shamal sending more and more binds at him, the tide would soon turn against him; still he needed to keep them both occupied as long as he could. "I won't let you pass, no matter what!"

"You really think so?" Shamal taunted in a manner that unnerved Zafira. Especially with the way Signum was now just standing there, smiling and not attacking. "We were actually counting on you to stay behind and delay us. We figured we'd have to deal with you first, and we needed you alone and in your wolf form... for this!"

A strange scent hit the guardian beast's nose, something that made him strangely anxious. And then Arf strolled into the area in her own full animal form, moving back and forth, her tail tilted at an odd angle. She gave him a look, and then paused to lick herself. It was a simple motion, but it caused his ears to droop, and his lower lip to quiver in a whimper.

And then she turned around and presented her backside to him, while raising her tail and lowering her head to the floor, her behind swaying slightly back and forth with a twitching tail. To a normal human, it wouldn't have had any effect. But as Zafira liked to remind people: he was a wolf, not a human.

As he roared and surged forward, Zafira learned that not even he was immune to call of the wild.

"Well, that was easier than I thought," Sigum remarked, strolling up next to Shamal.

"Wow, look at him go," Shamal commented in awe. "Reminds me of the times I caught him using his Real Bitch many years ago." She paused and licked her lips. "And it still, oddly, turns me on." She glanced over at Signum with a suggestive gaze.

The Belkan Knight's eyes widened; while she found she was still learning new things about her Wolkenritter partner everyday, she often wondered whether they were things she wanted to learn.

Actually, that was a pretty good parody of tentacle-horror hentai, with ominous scenes, and hope spots that are quickly snuffed out, interspersed with gags along the way (love the last line ). And yes, a Cthulhu Mythos shout-out was an absolute necessity!

No problem with Yuuno's final attack. Did you explicitly take that from To Aru Majutsu no Index when Accelerator compressed air to form plasma, or is that just a coincidence?

A bigger issue, though, is that the Infinite Library is not located on Mid Childa. It's in the TSAB HQ, which is that big spikey thing up in dimensional space. It's essentially a massive space colony.

Still, it was nice you gave Yuuno some glory. I'm actually interested in Hayate and Vivio's thoughts after the event.

Actually I got the idea after reading about star formation and letting my mind wander of just how broken Yukari's Border Manipulation could be. Since Border could be Barrier... It just kind went from there.

I will definitely have to fix that when I rewrite this. Should have done more research on where places were located.

As for Hayate and Vivio... I think that's a good idea to try and write. Gotta determine whether or not Yuuno lives though. Blowing up stars isn't exactly good for your health.

"I'd say I was impressed with mother, if I didn't know her so well..." Chrono trailed off and looked into the sky as he sighed. It had only been about five weeks since he had gotten back from that mission against Shabranigdo. Five weeks since Amy and Filia had told him that he had gotten them both pregnant. How the heck was he supposed to react to that? He was a teenager, granted, one with a lot of self control, but Filia and Amy were both good looking, and really, it was all Filia's fault, saying that she was open to a three-way relationship.

And of course, Amy went along with it, saying that she would rather share him with Filia than lose him for good. While such a statement did wonders for his ego, he really didn't think he could have gotten Filia pregnant. She wasn't even his species, how the heck did he get her pregnant?

Even so, he couldn't just leave them to take care of the children on their own. He didn't doubt that they couldn't. Hell, he was almost certain that they'd be better parents than he could be. No, he wasn't going to be one of those bums who just got a woman pregnant and then left her alone. He knew how hard it was for a single parent to raise a child alone.

"I'm still surprised that she had most of this stuff lined up months ago, Chrono." Chrono looked at the person sitting next to him and started to snicker. "What?"

"Your hair is almost back to normal, ferret boy." Chrono smirked at him. "And why didn't your device stop them from dying your hair again?"

Yuuno twitched and ran a hand through his hair. He thought that Arisa and Fate's little... Revenge was too much. Putting enough hair dye on his scalp to make his formerly blonde hair green, with orange and dark spots was just not funny. Especially at school. He still got snickers from everyone, even though Fate and Arisa had both admitted to dying his hair.

How they made it last, he wasn't sure.

"They took their clothes off and let me take pictures."

Yuuno and Chrono both blinked. "Really?" They asked at the same time.

"No."

Chrono and Yuuno both nearly fell over at that. "Thooooth..." Yuuno grumbled at his device. "Just what did they do to make you not tell?"

"I'm sorry, boss, but..."

"If you don't tell me, I'm going to take you to Mary and have her wipe your personality." Yuuno interrupted, his eye twitching erratically.

"They dyed your hair while not wearing a shirt or bra, boss. Arisa's tits are bigger than I thought they were."

Chrono snickered at that thought. "And I don't suppose you recorded it, huh?"

"You kidding?"

Yuuno and Chrono both stared as images of a topless Fate and Arisa popped up in front of them, grabbing Yuuno's hair and working in various dyes into his hair. "Enough!" Yuuno snapped, pushing a button to get the images to turn off. The last thing he needed was his hormones to work overtime again.

He wasn't sure just where he was getting dreams of a naked Riksfalto from, even if her body was incredibly hot, lately, and it was bothering him. A lot.

"Boss, if you want, I can show you what they did to get me to keep quiet."

"Huh?" Yuuno blinked and his nose started bleeding, as did Chrono's, as an image of Fate and Arisa hugging and actually making out was displayed. That was hot enough in and of itself, but seeing their naked chests pressing up against each other and Arisa leaning into it, and...

"Is she frenching Fate?" Chrono asked, his eyes glazed over.

"I didn't think Fate was into girls like that..." Yuuno muttered as the two broke apart, panting and winking at Thoth.

"Hey, Yuuno, you should know that Fate's one hell of a kisser." Arisa smirked at him. "Next time, don't use me and Caro to play a joke on Fate. It's not very nice."

Fate nodded in the image as it shut off.

"Do you think that they're lesbians?" Chrono asked, wiping at his nose. Damn, that was pretty intense. It reminded him of the times he caught Amy and Filia messing around when he wasn't around.

"Nah, they told me that they were just doing it to mess with boss."

"I... Uh..." Yuuno twitched. "Excuse me." A moment later, he disappeared in a flash as he teleported away.

Chrono didn't blame him. Of course, Chrono could deal with his problems in another way. A second later and he followed his friend's example and disappeared from the park all together.

"Chrono!" Amy smiled as she and Filia saw him appear in the living room. "I thought you were..." Anything more she was going to say was cut off as Chrono grabbed her and kissed her. Before she could react, he broke the kiss, leaving her to sink to her knees as Chrono grabbed Filia and kissed her on the lips.
