I was very satisfeid with this episode as once again the pace and direction of the show have taking a turn for the worst. My biggest fear was that the writers would try to play up the drama too much and do something completely out of context but to my joy this has not happened.

Hiromi has a new found confidence which i was 100% sure she would gain when she moved out. This was the best thing for her as she gets her own space and gets to do things on her own terms. Also, its not awkward in the house with Shin and Shins mom. Now she can come over to help and while helping out she can become closer with Shins mom. Ironically, she can now get closer with Shin as well since its not so much a conflict of interest with her living under the same roof. Hiromi knows what she wants and is making steps towards it. The breakfast scene followed by the kiss are all the evidence we need. Her breakup with Jun went as most of us predicted Jun did resist at first but Hiromi unleashed the psychological attack. Hiromi realized long ago who was in Juns heart and played that card brilliant i say. But i have to props to Jun for stepping in at the game that was very cool and quite chivalrous of him.

Noe seems to have hit a brick wall and is not sure what to do with her self. At first i thought she was going crazy but it looks like her grief over realizing who is in Shins heart plus knowing that Hiromi is the person that can help Shin fly was too much. Ironically, I think the problem is she cant cry we all know a good cry to chase away a lot of worries but Noe cant. I expect her meeting with Shin with the start of the final resolution. Im hoping that Shin's completed picture book which she supported him on is enough to make her cry and i hope Noe is finally able to get Shin to understand who he should be with.

Aiko and Nobu went exactly as i and i think 2 others had hoped. Nobu is a great guy and Aiko is a very sweet girl. If he manages to win her over this time it will be on his own merit not someone elses at that point i will say he truly deserves her. I am glad Aiko asked to start over as friends it shows the growth of the characters which is something i must have in a drama if Im going to give it high marks.

Hiromi looked adorable in glasses btw and in the preview her in a Kimono is just as as cute now the long week of pain and anguish till the next episode.

Solid 9/10

Quoted for truth. I iked how there wasn't really any dramatic buildup. It was completely natural, as if it were a daily occurrence. Teehee! I felt warm and fuzzy feelings~

Though yeah, the events are making me a little confused in regards to how it'll turn out in the end. Either way, I'll keep watching the show!

I hate to break it to you, but there are many girls in real life who much prefer "good boys" over "cool, hot guys". Look at it this way - these girls are looking for guys they feel confident about bringing home to show Dad (the same way that many guys are looking for girls they can bring home to show Mom). Shinichiro fits the bill to a tee. At least, that's what we need to believe, otherwise it's difficult to imagine three highly eligible girls going after the same guy. That's a fantasy which can only exist on TV.

Speaking about the book, personally, I feel it's written terribly. It's certainly in need of thorough editing. I hope Shinichiro doesn't keep the current ending. The story about Raigomaru and Jibeta starts out as a story about a chicken that wants to fly, but goes off-tanget, and it becomes a story about a deluded chicken that kills itself while trying to achieve an impossible dream. Hmm, it's "original" I suppose, but a cynical ending doesn't fit a fairy tale picture-book very well, I feel.

did anyone else get the deeper meaning of Jibeta being the one to jump and not Raigomaru?

Well in terms of from Noe's pov I believe it is Shin saying to her in not so many words he is unable to fly. As I think that Raigo represents him, but the question is who is Jibeta? I guess it represents Noe, but that's not a nice ending!

The way I see it, Shin sees himself as Raigo, and sees Hiromi as Jibeta. He initially wanted to fly, but he "couldnt" after seeing Jibeta on the ground. He decided to stay on the ground one more day. I see that as Shin not willing to leave Hiromi behind, thus he couldnt fully commit to Noe, even though Noe desperately wanted Raigomaru to fly. Today Jibeta flew, and fell, while Raigomaru didnt do a damned thing. I see that as Shin acknowledging that Hiromi has come clean and confessed her feelings (flying through the kiss), even though she didnt know what would come after. It was brave of Jibeta to do that, and Raigomaru feels ashamed that he didnt do anything at all. Seeing Jibeta fall, Raigomaru admits to himself that he has been fooling himself all along, that chickens cant fly anyway. Now Raigomaru has a few options. He can try to fly (fooldhardy, and unlikely imo), or he could nurse Jibeta and forget about flying (Shin x Hiromi end).

I dont think Shin will leave the ending as such (Jibeta falling and "the end"). He knew it was a bad end, and he was going to tell Noe about it. Maybe Noe will tell him how to make it a good end...

Thoughts?

I don't think Jibeta represents Hiromi as her story was 1 page long. Also the chicken story kinda says that reality caught up with jibeta and he became a pancake. There was no fairy tale ending. Jibeta's escape is more like Noe's grandma's as in flying/escape via death...

Do you mean it's Noe ? I think the book is about shinishiro who can't fly because he loves someone else (not Noe).

I though it was pretty clear in past episodes ?_?

I meant it in the sense of effort put into the book whilst he was thinking of a specific girl. Epi 1 story was obviously about Hiromi, but the chicken tale was inspired by and written for Noe.

You can lock the doors without keys... However, it is not surprising for your "boyfriend" to have an extra pair of keys to your apartment.

Okay, the kiss and the reaction by Kou'ichiro. It was a look of surprise on Shin's face. It wasn't happiness, warmness, or anything. Also, he had Noe on his mind during that time.

This whole episode brought me into another state of confusion again. Things are going along well with Hiromi, but why they does he keep on thinking about Noe throughout? It's as if he is wavering in his feelings. I really hope they don't try to make a switch in the end to surprise us all. This is driving me crazy! I love it! This is going to be a very long week...

Aww, have you finally been brought over to the side of Hiromi-ness? Or she still not good enough for you? hehe

OK, his ending in his book kind of irks me. I think he changed it when he brought it with him in the end, but the original ending had Jibeta doing the leaping and died because of it? What was up with that? Hiromi probably saw that version and thought that is what is in store for her and how he thought of her. Then again, this misguiding by the show is really hard to figure out, so I don't know what she is really thinking.

Aiko and Nobuse = win all around with that one.

Jun = get a grip and get a clue. Yes, he did a cool thing at the basketball game, but his purpose is wrong and he needs to figure that out.

March 23 just won't come soon enough...

Remember that they are not back together yet, Aiko and Nobuse are just going back to being friends. Nobuse told her in clear words that he will work hard so she can knit him a sweater which mean them getting back together. Aiko didn't deny the possibility and said that she will practice her knitting for "when" that day come. I don't know if so many people are getting the impression that she asked him if she wanted her as girlfriend, they wrote "GIRL FRIEND" because Aiko asked him if he wanted an "energetic good looking "WOMAN FRIEND" ". I have seen many people in other forums using the "GIRL FRIEND" line as a proof that they are back together.

I believe is long haul relationships. This modern wham bam, lets get married (and divorced) is not what I personally call getting together. So for me their tentative steps at getting together through their own wishes and feelings makes the Ai and Nobu side story that much nicer.

Ok.... this is so stupid. What the hell is wrong with that guy Shin.
Why is he so indecisive?
He just got
Spoiler for ep. 11:

and yet he is acting like nothing happened.

When someone did that to you, the proper thing to do is go back to her place and do the same thing.

The writers are probably just delaying or trying to come up with things to stall time. Since it looks pretty much cliche at this point on. What would probably happen is that Hiromi and Shin will be officially dating at the festival. Why? Cuz that's their childhood thing. In fact, that's the only childhood moment they have that they kept playing and playing. It makes sense that the story of hiromi and shin stopped at the festival and will continue at the festival also.

Anyway, I still want to see how the picture book is going to turn out. How he is going to dance in the festival.

However, I'm no longer interested in what will happen to Noe. She is my favorite character but now the writers are just ruining her. I don't even want to know since it looks down hill from here and maybe at the end, she will smiling because she can cry again.

So cliche.

@Fuzzy - Heh not only did he act like nothing happened, he was flashbacking to Noe instead.

My romdar (ROMantic raDAR) is now saying I think Noe is in with a bigger chance. This epi has been undermining the Hiromi x Shin scenario and the preview looks to be building up Hiromi's hopes. Me thinks they are going to try to add some more spice to the show by dashing them in a spectacular way and maybe Jun is the person who ends up picking up the pieces?

I'd say that Jibeta is probably Hiromi as well. She tried to move out and live on her own, but apparently moved back in.
Though I supported her at first because of her long hair and osana najimi power, Hiromi's lost a lot of my support due to her new Megane-wielding.

I still don't really support Noe either, though, so I guess I'll still be in the Hiromi crowd (though with less fervor) because she at least had her glasses off in that one scene on the pier (or whatever it was, sea wall?).

I can't see how Jibeta represents Hiromi. Jibeta ends up dead. Hiromi currently is happy and has flown from the coop.

Shin drew about Raigomaru and Jibeta because of Noe, but Noe recognized at the end of episode 9 that Raigomaru's motivations in the picture book mirror Shin's thoughts and feelings for Hiromi. So in that sense Noe realized the drawings were still inspired by Hiromi. Add to that the embrace Shin and Hiromi had at the beginning of episode 9 then the fight he had over Hiromi's reputation at school. Noe basically avoided Shin since the end of episode 9 because she realized that Hiromi was the one in his heart and mind. On the surface level he was dating Noe but he was always still thinking about Hiromi and his thoughts showed in his drawings. Makes sense since he started dating Noe because he thought he was helping Hiromi as a result of the misunderstanding that she "liked" Jun and there was also the matter of his mother's lie that also influenced his decision. So when Shin said he could'nt fly to Noe, she told him that he could fly, just that it was somewhere else and not here with her.

Right now Shin is feeling guilty about hurting Noe because he himself was too weak to go after what he wanted and let things progress to this state. He was berating himself for not doing things properly in that scene when he was standing in Hiromi's empty room that she used to live in at his house.

Jibeta doesn't necessarily represent anyone. The main point is that Raigomaru was just too much of a chicken to step up and try, which is a fancy way for Shinichiro to say "Hell no I won't ever think about flying again."
Shinichiro has little fondness for that kind of end, apparently.
Noe seems to have reached her limit (a bit too extreme?). But it's not the last episode so no one should be dying here (except for Jibeta)
Still supporting Noe, despite all the remarks about the predictable shinXhiromi ending, about which I don't really care anymore. She's still my favorite character
