The official twitter account also seems to confirm that Believe in Yourself (by Mao Abe) will continue to be the opening theme for season 2. The song is hella catchy, so no complaints here.

Solid start so far. Same OP song with different sequences but new characters as well. I like Marica tbh even though she can be a bit childish at times.
Well, this is a training arc and we'll get to see Eiichirou face off against some interesting opponents like Alex already. Can't wait too see some of his upcoming matches. How I miss this show. So glad it's back...!

That was a pretty good start. May just be me but feels like they stabilized the animation a lot more for the second season, though it could just be the first episode syndrome and it's all downhill visually from here on .
Just a very comfortable return for the show. Maruo getting into this crazy environment and now the challenge begins. He's got to make these 2 weeks worthwhile because he'll soon be playing matches he can't afford to lose. Props to Natsu for giving Maruo a major bit of help there. Asking her childhood friend for a favor so Maruo will get all the chances to play that he needs.

Kamiya Hiroshi would hardly have been my first choice for Alex - he has a sweet spot but this isn't it, and he hasn't hit it often lately. But apart from that it was an excellent premiere - as always very faithful (which given how sublimely good the manga is, is all you really need) and the visuals started off much better than they did last year.
Just so damn good to have Baby Steps back. It's so strong on so many levels, just a joy to experience.

Pretty cool first episode. I remember when I first read this part thought that Krishna was a girl and thought "how weird that she is in a male dorm"
BTW, I couldn't catch a sponsors part? So perhaps this season only has NHK as a sponsor again?..... Well, that's good and bad at the same time.

Yes!!! It's back! I'm still liking the opening song and the new sequence makes it so much more dramatic. So much so that to me, it's worth rewatching over and over.
Regarding Alex, I sort of agree with a previous poster. His VA makes him sound stuck up, even though that may not have been the case. Liking Marcia already, and I also thought Krishna was a girl because of the coloring of the lips. The tennis sequences were great. They seemed fluid and once again pretty realistic which is why I highly regard this and Haikyuu in the sports anime category. |

I might have preferred slightly weird spoken english.
I assume Marcia is suppose to be speaking english, since Maruo is acting like he doesn't understand what she's saying when asking Mike on what she means after she said a few lines to him

So great to have this show back. The new Golden Age of sports anime keeps rolling, with no end in sight, and Baby Steps still impresses me with how realistic it is without dampening my excitement for Maruo's budding career and his big dreams of making it as a pro.
I'm surprised they didn't change the opening theme, though. Has anyone ever tried taking a shot every time the singer says "jibun"? Quickest way to get drunk. Last edited by Uribatake; 2015-06-09 at 10:07. |

I think it's Translation Convenntion. Everyone, including Maruo, actually speaks English.

It's very nice to have Baby Steps back again. The opening sequence was ridiculously satisfying, from the accurate tennis form to Ei-chan signing the camera. The art is on par with the best looking episodes from S1, and I also get the feeling that this is going to have slightly higher production values.
