Episode 1:
Well I have to say that Shounen Maid is too cute to watch! While there's some BL elements, this show makes me want to cuddle Chihiro-kun!

Just spotted, the idol trio in the ED are featured on a rooftop billboard visible from Chihiro's bedroom, around 18:05 in the first episode.

Spoiler for image:

A bit confused, is this basically a show designed for girls that like shonen?

Or is it one of those shows that goes completely crazy fast?

It's hard to find any fault in the quality of the show, so I'll stick with it for a while.

the manga is published in B's Log Magazine which is generally a shoujo publication, lots of vampires and bishonen characters, male/male pairings with a certain amount of implied BL/fujoshi. There are also mystery and fighting mangas and the like but no overt romance stories.

I'll take that as a yes.

The nicely reminded me of Hayate no Gotoku (The manga naturally). And not because of the butler (or in this case maid) dynamic. It has this nice mix of drama and comedy that Hata-sensei can be pretty good at. I'm sold.

Well I'll admit the formula is the only thing that makes it a strange show.

The surprising has its charms. I'm glad it's not some protagonist trying to pretend to be the opposite sex and hide it forever kind of show. It's really just a guy wearing a maid's outfit.

I like his friends too. The silver-haired boy seems like the one that will stick around or be more important than the rest.

Two weeks ago I would probably laugh at myself to even think that I would be hooked by this show

Now it is probably one of my favorite of the seasons, it is just so charming for some reasons.

I think this show does have some attempts at pandering at the shotacon demographic here and there (like the scene posted above) but they're always all contextualized in a way that they make sense in a story that doesn't ever explicitly endorse them. Just sort of wink-wink, nudge-nudge fanservice cameos, so they're pretty easy to overlook. So yeah, I get a charming show, and whoever's in that kind of stuff gets their share. Win-win for me.

this might be out of no where, but I just noticed now that Chihiro's Mom is hawt.

I want to see more flashbacks of her.

It's criminal this series gets so little attention - emotionally speaking it punches way above its weight class.

Ep 05

It really is quite good - no argument there.

Although for me what little I read of the source manga hits harder, even so the series deserves way more attention and respect.
