Not much of a surprise, but Ace of Diamond belongs to Crunchyroll. Looks like it'll be airing Saturday afternoon/evening in the US.

Very solid, old-school baseball stuff - just like the manga. This is sports anime for die-hard fans of the genre, I suspect.

Good first episode, but I'm disappointed that it looks like the MC will abandon his friends for the good school. I mean that sounds like the set-up for a series in which his friends decide to show him up and become the best team in Japan.

Most comments I saw were positive so I guess it is just me but I wasn't feeling this first episode. I like the team aspect and I was looking forward to this one so I will give it a few more episodes.

Liked the first ep. Seems like those 11 pitches decide his fate. Good to have baseball anime back,

Looks like another quality sports anime. Nice to see that the pitcher this time is a lefty. I hope that he's a technique pitcher and not another power pitcher like I see in Adachi Mitsuru's works.

(No, I haven't read the manga and I don't plan to until the anime season is over so I don't spoil it for myself. )

I agree, it's kind of sad if he does, but I'm interested in seeing where they go with that if he does.

I wonder how many episodes this show is going to get. It's a long runner and it can go on for at least 100 episodes easily. It has reached Volume 38 (releasing this week in Japan). I've read to Volume 37 and the ending is still very far away.

Enjoyed the second episode much more than the first. I liked the scenes with the catcher and how they handled him leaving his friends.

But now I am worried this is going to be a long running series.

Well, it's the old H x H timeslot so that might be circumstantial evidence that they hope it runs for a while.

I liked the first with his strong conviction.. than it turned into another standard sports anime. I thought from the first episode he would be the underdog team that took his team to the championship but than he joins a standard team. From there it became standard fare and boring. When I first saw the episode I was thinking more like the Bad News Bears.. team of losers that became winners.

Your scenario seems just as standard to me.
