World War Z and the Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks. The survival guide is amusing in that it takes itself seriously. It offers advice on how to prepare for and survive the immenent zombie outbreak. World War Z tells the story of a worldwide zombie outbreak by interviewing people all over the world who managed to survive. Both are excellent reads, and I particularly recommend World War Z.
I've read most or all of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series and most of the Stephen King classics. Most of the books I read lately are instructional though... |

I spent the last two weeks reading my sister's self-help books. The only thing I learned is that all of those books say the exact same thing, just packaged slightly differently. AND most of them make the money they claim to have gotten by following their own method...by teaching others to follow the method! Most of their millions come from book sales, seminar sales, tapes and CDs, teaching people to do things they themselves don't do. Of course that doesn't mean the method doesn't work, just means we should apply a lot more scrutiny to these kinds of books/people than we normally do. In that respect it was an edifying experience. Titles, I don't remember most of them. I think the last one was called "You were Born Rich" or something.
