I noticed more still shots... (or just panning and the like). The action sequences were fine though. I'd be quite happy with this level of animation for the rest of the series.

Well I thought this was just awesome ^^

Stein is completely overpowered but he is just so dam cool. And his klutzy moment with his chair, not once but twice! Rofls, I want that chair ^^

And not surprisingly, mr shinigami was in this the whole time...and I thought Stein was the bad guy. He is insanely strong though I have to stress.

The end bit was quite funny when everything was revealed..."ehhhhhh!" sounds like an understatement XD

And now Kidd is joining the school ~ yay...

- I hope the budgeting of this episode shows up in future episodes where the animation will really count. For instance the next one hopefully.

- I very much liked the soul animations and the amp animation. Those were nice.

- Dr. Stein is an entertaining fellow, especially how he constantly turns that screw in his head. Oh, and of course dissections.

- The the fight itself was pretty pwnage. The chair part was good fun, and the techniques employed by the good doctor show that he's no joke.

- Omigawa Chiaki is improving quite a bit. I'm very impressed with her performance as Maka this time around.

- I've said it before and I'll say it again. The music in this series just plain pwns.

- The amount of MakaXSoul moments in this episode was quite pleasing to my inner fangirl.

I still thought the animation was nice, much better then other shows Im watching this season. Stein = WIN! Omg I didnt get what everyone meant with the chair refs but man that was awesome. Glad he's good, though since my comprehension of jpn is still limited I didnt quite get all of the back story with him and Death Scythe.

Can someone tell me why Kid was freaking out?? Is it like what Killz said and he's joining the school? Man he'd make Itoshiki-sensei happy with all the despair he's in

For series specific forums with a thread-per-episode, I generally don't post until the RAWs are available but I've never (that I remember) used spoiler tags when talking about the ep itself and I've never had complaints or ban-threats. It makes sense for series with just a single thread, but here, it's just in the way - after all, spoilers about future events are not allowed at all in this thread (except with what can be seen in the preview). A grey area would be posting about the episode before it's aired/available with knowledge about the equivalent manga chapter - personally I'd just avoid doing that since we can't necessarily know in advance exactly how the anime would be done and there is the risk of future spoilers - if I did post in such circumstances I'd definitely put that in spoilers and clearly explained.

Anyway, about the episode itself some more - here we start to see a better definition of the battle-styles of the major characters: Black Star takes a very direct approach and with his unusual soul wave-length can fight well without Tsubaki, while Maka takes a more analytical approach and while she prefers to keep things simple she can do some high level skills like "soul resonance" and gained the ability to see live human souls in this ep (another "higher arts" type skill).
