Well I started watching Nana on a whim, guess I needed some serious drama slice of life, and I must say that the first thing that struck me was Nana's stringy legs in the OP, and then the rest of the people-art; not that its a bad thing, I'm starting to like the almost gothic-ly thin and doll-like art style of the people ~ reminds me of Tim Burton's works where they all look dead and starved. But I'm sure that this has been discussed to death.

Anyway, glad to join a new thread, hope my busy schedule will allow me to catch up to the current releases as soon as possible.

Well, episode 15 was rather nice. I agree with Omni that the quality of animation slipped somewhat, but it was still an enjoyable episode.

Tell me about it. Only on episode 5, already loving the episode 4/5 Nano-O arc.. Seriously, is this character development or what. Love Yasu's "analysis" (if it can be called that) at the start of ep5; interesting, not just the two main characters get developed, you get to understand everyone else around them.

Damn I feel for Nana. Seriously good show. Wonderful ep (5), the deepest yet.

That girl (Misato) seems a bit "iffy" especially recently in the manga. But I won't spoil it for you though hell even I don't know either as to what she's hiding from Nana...

I did forget her completely, but I decided to read the manga and just came by her in volume 1. 8)

PS: And since we are on the manga issue, damn, it's a shame they pretty much left out the Junko's Room omake. That was hella funny.

She cooked a cake for Nana in episode five after Blast's breakup, and presumably wrote the letter below, so she knew about Nana's break up with Ren; going as far to encourage her to contact him. So, talk about stalking..

NANA has crept back into the top ten anime in TV rankings in Japan this week, at number 9, with a 4.3 share. This is seriously fantastic. Almost no late-night animes ever get into the top ten, which is filled with Saturday-morning and early-weekday-evening shows like Doraemon, Naruto, Crayon Shin-chan, etc. NANA's on at 11:25pm Wednesdays. The latest any other top-ten anime is on is 7:30pm.

its top 10 cuz it rocks!! i hope we get past the "movie" parts so its all new stuff (for us non manga readers).
episode 15 started slow and then took off like a rocket! darn i love this show.

both emotional explosions right now. Ah, life is good!

I was unaware that Nana would be FIFTY episodes! LOTS of room for things
to happen.

I could not believe that the story would go in this direction when I read the manga, and I can't want to see it animated.

Add Simoun and Bokura ga Ita to that list and you've got my week of high-class emotional intensity. What a great ep 15 was.

Ztarr Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: Canada Age: 39	Spoiler for episode 14: Everything about Shoji and Hachi's breakup was painful and sad, but it was pulled off beautifully story-wise. - it showed that Hachi had some blame too - Junko reacted like Junko, not the stereotypical best friend - Sachiko is the perfect girl for Shoji I really love the way Sachiko's character is developped. She's so cute. It's so hard to hate her, yet I feel guilty for not hating her, since Nana K is the main character. You can see the logic in Shoji being unhappy with Nana K, and how much relief and happiness Sachiko gives him. I feel sorry for Shoji because Sachiko is really the kind of girl he deserves, but mad towards him for the choices he made. But this is what makes his character seem more realistic...he makes mistakes.

I agree with Omni that the quality of animation slipped somewhat, but it was still an enjoyable episode. Spoiler: Shouji! Man, I can't believe this jerk. The act he pulled at the Jackson Hole when Junko and Kyousuke came in (and that ungreatful prick was trying to 'shuffle off') was just beyong my comprehension. I was somewhat forgiving for the whole Sachiko debacle because it was probably better for him and Nana to separate, but this is just freaking amazing. To try and shun your dearst friends like that just to avoid uncomfortable questions is just amazingly low. But I am also glad that they are not dusting Shouji off into the dustbin of history. Despite the break-up, Shouji does not disappear from their life and I like the fact that the series is not so protagonist-centric as to write off a character whose 'story arc' has ended. That's not how it is in real life and I am glad that Shouji is still around. The concert went well. I especially liked the fact that Anna Tsuchiya sang a slightly different version of Rose for the concert, partly because that gave the song some sort of a LIVE vibe. You know, you could sorta feel that it's not canned voice, but Nana is actually singing there. As far as direction, I liked the Live Action version better because it was much more colorful and had a more punkish atmosphere, but the anime version was good as well. Nana in make up and with her hair done was gorgeous, and Shin got even more piercings (and he got prettied up as well). And the addition of Misato was welcome. It lead to an interesting follow-through after the concert. Right when Hachi needed someone's breast to cry into, Nana gets a fangirl of her own. Combine that with sightings of Sachiko and Nana's depression predictably boiled over into a slight break-down. I'm a bit sad it happened, but it was inevitable with the way Hachi has been holding it in. Too bad Nana was the one she had to take it on.

I will say that when you do something wrong you dont try to hide from your friends. As much as i would like Shouji to fall into the deepest part of hell i do realieze that completely writing him out of the story would be wrong. I would not be surprised if he plays some role later on i mean we are just getting started (Nana is going to be around 50 ep) Jun and Kyoske were so funny epsically when Jun said "it must be hard to come back epsically when the auidence hates you" perfect I thought the concert went well Nana O looked great on stage. Hachi is just a wreck right now in more ways then one. I think at this point she is leaning on Nana for support so when her fangurl shows and stills the lime light its just too much to handle she is sooooooooooooo damn jealous but it confuses her since Nana is also a women, she is so confused that sexual thoughts that ran through her head while she slept was funny espcially imaginig Nana on top and wondering how girls do it. I think at this point Hachi is just being tourtred to see Sachiko in the story the timing was perfect considering that she was already feeling abandoned (Producers you are cruel bastards). Im reading the manga so i know basically know where the series is headed next. we approacing where the movie left off. Does anyone know anything about the sequel to Nana the movie? Hachi yelling at Nana was so unexpected but it was done well the silence and the stare before the outburst i think Hachi words cut deep. I think the series is so powerful due to how its told like a flash back from Hachi eyes at the opening and closing.
