Off to a great start. I like the decision the anime made to expand on Yu's time under captivity by the vampires. That helped to build up to the tragedy and really explain Yu's motivations. The music was also used well and really fit the scenes.

Shingeki style is definitely here but overall Seraph seems more colorful so far, not a bad thing at all. PV spoiled Yu's family outcome but still was impressive watching those kids die one by one, even if it wasn't very graphic. All of them except Mika of course.
Also 8 year time skip already? Fast pacing is fast. |

The production values are pretty nice here, and I find it somewhat interesting that the vampires are seemingly just taking advantage of humanity's decline rather than directly causing it, but I find everything else mediocre so far.
My opinion on this might change later on, but based on the first episode, the vampires seem a tad bit dumb. I mean, it just seems funny how they "waste" humans when their numbers have decreased so significantly. It's not like they can take blood from those kids every day. |

Another soundtrack I'm going to listen to, regardless of whether I end up finishing the anime or not... I loved the escape-vampire fight theme.
As for story, nothing revolutionary, but I guess it served as a set-up. I do wonder how the anti-vampire forces have the money and resources for snazzy uniforms, but I'm not complaining. I don't know the original work either, but this is the very first episode, I have a feeling that they're going to explain it... |

This series looks like a keeper for this season.
I'm sure there is more to it than what was shown in the first episode, but the Vampires plan is unsustainable. If they only have 13 year olds or younger, eventually, they will die out and their supply of blood will be gone. Who is going to reproduce more humans to supply the vampires with blood? Well, in that regards, I'm not even sure if there really is a world-wide epidemic, since it would be foolish for the vampires to allow such a thing.

This was wonderful! Like most people said already, those were some really amazingly well used 20 minutes. The only anime of the season so far I felt it was over in no time.
Spoiler for ep 1:
Spoiler for speculation:
Can't wait for next week! |

So, if that's true, the children could continue to grow up under their rule and then they would have them breed like cattle and thus have more children and sustain their supply that way. That's my speculation anyway.

The episode was good until I saw the convenient military guys waiting for him outside (in clean crisp uniforms)...and then the bright, unblemished high school setting in the preview - such a cliche set-up. It would be better if they continued on with the apocalypse theme and show how Yu will survive and come back for revenge in such a backdrop. Nevertheless, I'll continue with the series for now. I do like the BGM though! A side note: I personally don't see any yaoi undertone. All I see is brotherly love and strong family bond.

Shota? It showed a time skip at the end of the episode. 16 is in no way shota.
