Ah this brings back memories, DBZ was the first show that got me into anime. I remember watching it on toonami, and despite owning some of the dvds, I've never watched it subbed. So with that said and the age difference with the VAs, I have to say that the voices will really take some getting used to. Goku sounds a bit too squeaky. Gohan, Bulma, and ChiChi sound too old. Everyone else was okay. Radditz is really the only one that I felt was spot on, too bad, hehe.
The music on the other hand was pretty good. I look forward to seeing more.

OH man if they said it will show really HD quality WHY WHY they don't put it. Only so far the OP/ED show real HD quality. This sucks.
Episode 2 is fine with me but the show if they really want to show HD quality they must do it.

It's been like a decade since I've seen those old eps, so hopefully you'll understand when I say that all sounds absolutely ridiculous. Z couldn't have been that bad in the beginning, could it? Of course, I've been following the DBZ Abridged Series, so I'm kinda used to the quick pace. It's because of Abridged that in the latest ep of Kai, when a half naked Goku narrowed his eyes and said they had a "strategy", I loled milk out of my nose.

Liking the score more and more after the second episode. Some pretty interesting pieces --- at the rate this is going, i'll easily preorder the first soundtrack when it's released.

This was a really good episode. In case anyone's interested, it covered 3 chapters. I especially liked the music that played when Goku and Piccolo landed in front of Raditz. Awesome stuff from Yamamoto right there. At the current pace, Goku and Raditz will die in episode 4 around 1/3 or 1/2 into the episode.
However, here is one thing I didn't like. They cut out the following parts: - Goku telling Krillin that him and Roshi cannot be brought back to life by the dragonballs since they do not grant the same wish more than once (this was very important and should not have been left out). - The rest of their conversation (Krillin lamenting that he'll never get a girl friend, all of them looking at the dragon radar to see Raditz's location, etc.) until Piccolo showed up. They must have cut these parts out due to time constraints of the episode (20 minutes), but the first point should have definitely been left in. In any case, the next episode is going to be amazing. We get to see the Special Beam Cannon in action, which is a moment I have really been anticipating since it is going to have new special effects. Man I love Piccolo.

You're absolutely right, actually. The issue of not being able to revive a person more than once with the earth's dragon balls is reiterated quite a few times in the story. Since that's the case, I really don't mind that omission from this episode anymore. Good thinking Shiroth.
