Ah this brings back memories, DBZ was the first show that got me into anime. I remember watching it on toonami, and despite owning some of the dvds, I've never watched it subbed. So with that said and the age difference with the VAs, I have to say that the voices will really take some getting used to. Goku sounds a bit too squeaky. Gohan, Bulma, and ChiChi sound too old. Everyone else was okay. Radditz is really the only one that I felt was spot on, too bad, hehe.

The music on the other hand was pretty good.

I look forward to seeing more.

OH man if they said it will show really HD quality WHY WHY they don't put it. Only so far the OP/ED show real HD quality. This sucks.

Episode 2 is fine with me but the show if they really want to show HD quality they must do it.

So, am I the only one who honestly believes (ridiculous translation issues aside) that the dub of DBZ is better than the japanese original? The voices of everyone just gets on my nerves...

That's been discussed to death on the rest of the internet, we're not going into that in this thread.

Goku and Picollo teaming up used to be an entire episode, and Kai does it in 5 minutes.

This was also in the original version, except slightly less obvious because it was in between episodes instead of a commercial break.

. . .
It's been like a decade since I've seen those old eps, so hopefully you'll understand when I say that all sounds absolutely ridiculous. Z couldn't have been that bad in the beginning, could it?

Of course, I've been following the DBZ Abridged Series, so I'm kinda used to the quick pace. It's because of Abridged that in the latest ep of Kai, when a half naked Goku narrowed his eyes and said they had a "strategy", I loled milk out of my nose.

This is an epic, classic and most importantly THE REAL DRAGONBALL we've all grown too and loved.

Yeah that was great.

Liking the score more and more after the second episode. Some pretty interesting pieces --- at the rate this is going, i'll easily preorder the first soundtrack when it's released.

The episode 2 was great, as it was before, with normal pace this time. I'm loving the background music now unlike the first time I watched. Japanese voices are as good as ever and watching Saiyan saga again is just a guilty pleasure

This is great! Awsome pacing, and really awsome new music! Hell it looks like they might even finish the whole Raditz fight next episode, or at least come close.

I believe Toei has actually said themselves that Raditz would be out of the picture by the end of episode 3, so yeah, the fight ends this week.

This was a really good episode. In case anyone's interested, it covered 3 chapters. I especially liked the music that played when Goku and Piccolo landed in front of Raditz. Awesome stuff from Yamamoto right there. At the current pace, Goku and Raditz will die in episode 4 around 1/3 or 1/2 into the episode.

However, here is one thing I didn't like. They cut out the following parts:

- Goku telling Krillin that him and Roshi cannot be brought back to life by the dragonballs since they do not grant the same wish more than once (this was very important and should not have been left out).

- The rest of their conversation (Krillin lamenting that he'll never get a girl friend, all of them looking at the dragon radar to see Raditz's location, etc.) until Piccolo showed up.

They must have cut these parts out due to time constraints of the episode (20 minutes), but the first point should have definitely been left in.

In any case, the next episode is going to be amazing. We get to see the Special Beam Cannon in action, which is a moment I have really been anticipating since it is going to have new special effects. Man I love Piccolo.

Indeed. I mean, removing filler is fine and all, but removing important plot-points? ...Not so much.

I like to believe this scene was missed out because it's something that's covered again at a later date.

Probably when everyone arrives at the scene with Goku and Raditz's dead bodies, and someone will ask them why they didn't help.

You're absolutely right, actually. The issue of not being able to revive a person more than once with the earth's dragon balls is reiterated quite a few times in the story. Since that's the case, I really don't mind that omission from this episode anymore. Good thinking Shiroth.

Yeah... I know... but when it's between episodes, you bypass it, but when it's a commercial break you notice it really bad.
