That's not James, that's a random bad guy - if you notice the format of the magazine pages, you'll see that the articles in red are self-contained, and do not reference any content outside of it. If that character is James, his image would be inside the red article pertaining to him, rather than on the main white article referring to the bad guys of ME3.

Is that a melee weapon I see in p. 55? More focus on melee mechanics would be huge for vanguard players like me.
I'm also glad I saved the rachni. I figured that short scene with the messenger of the Queen in ME2 implied that they'd have a significant role in the finale. On another note, I was wondering if it's possible to import an ME2 file with Shepard not surviving the suicide mission. If the survivors and deaths of the suicide mission will affect how the story plays out in ME3, would a dead Shepard also count? It also remains to be seen just how far Bioware will be playing up this "your choices matter" bit in the overall story of the game. So far, they've been a hit or miss in that area. |

From what I remember of official statements since ME2, you simply can't continue a savegame with a dead Shepard on it. Basically, your Shepard's story ends if he dies, and therefore cannot continue into Mass Effect 3. You'll just have to create a new game in ME3, or load another save where Shepard lives.
On the issue of the contested guy in the magazine scans: Spoiler for Speculation:

That sounds promising, especially for Vanguard players. I hope infiltrators get a backstab or something sneaky-stealth kill along those lines. |

Choosing to side with the allied races would arguably be the 'good' choice, but their leaders (all tucked away in the Citadel) are either ignorant or incompetent. I guess that's one good reason to give the Reaper base to Cerberus. |

It's unfortunate though that Mass Effect 2 shoves down your throat that giving that base is WRONG and BAD.
It had a 3 seconds worth of illusion of gray behind it when one of your allies will always try to play the straight-man and tell you there might be some value in preserving it, but the post-mission discussions pretty much slap it in your face that you're a massive tard and your comrades doesn't respect you as much if you chose to be TIM's lap dog. I guess it'll show itself in Mass Effect 3 properly as the game railroads Cerberus into being your enemy anyway no matter how much of a Cerberus fanboy you might be in Mass Effect 2.
