at last the series gets somewhere! (talk about cutting the action close >.<)

well the real matter came right near the end ~ we are given the true motives of the black baron as revealed by takamichi ~ next we see the star crystal being completed and Eva taking in the power and challenges negi to a match ~ i can see flames in the air!!

It is really all that close or unusual? I haven't done a scientific study or anything, but isn't 5-6 episodes from the end is about the norm for starting the closing arc? In any case, I didn't mind the path they took to get here (and don't think the means were quite as tangental as some say), but I'm looking forward to the whole closing arc as well.

Well, as far as Shinbou goes, he doesn't need more than 3 episode to wrap up a series. Legendary directors such as Watanabe needs only two. I'm sure Shinbou is also an aspiring legend. He just needs to cut down on the total number to give a series the closure.

Positives ..... some action ahead perhaps? (after some actual character work with Yue and Nodoka which was nice)

Okay, despite all the pokes just then, it is and has been rather fun to watch. I'm really interested in seeing if we'll get some full-bore pactio ranger team action for a closing climax.... (suddenly has a flashback to the MPFC Holy Grail not-a-climax after chugging whiskey).

But the interesting thing now is...

The one that possesses Evangeline is Negi's friend, Anya (yes the little girl that hangs out with Nekane and Negi when Negi was younger), so Anya is the main culprit behind the Star Crystal.

After discovering in this episode that the people who got possessed by the faries were based on moon astrology, I found another flaw that Shinbou made in this series: he had both Konoka and Haruna Pactio a little too early.

After doing research using an online moon astrology site and the birthdays of Negi's students, I realized that had those two been possessed by a fairy, then we could have had two more groups that Negi and his Ministra Magi would have to fight: a group with "lion-based" outfits (Konoka, Satomi, and Zazie) and a group with "scorpion-based" outfits (Haruna, Misora, and Chizuru)

Personally, if I did the fights, here's how I'd have done it:

Spoiler:

1. The Leo group will be the first group, with them fighting Negi, Nodoka, and Setsuna (thus setting up Setsuna's Pactio and then having Konoka Pactio after the fight).

2. The second battle (which will focus on Konoka, Kaede, and the twins) will consist of the Scorpio group, thus setting things up for Yue and Haruna discovering Negi's secret

3. Groups three through five will be the same, only with a few differences:

Capricorn (i.e. the first battle group in the series):
-Madoka replaces Kaede (who will now be protected from being possessed due to her Pactio)
-the battle will be Library Trio-focused (got to keep the "Nodoka being a better Net Idol than Chisame" plot point in)

Piscis (second group):
-Asakura replaces Ayaka

Aries (third group)
-Ayaka (who actually belongs in this group) becomes a fourth member of the group

Wow, I didn't know that the faerie possession in Negima was based on moon astrology... You got it all by yourself or is it posted somewhere?

I got the information about the moon astrology theme when it comes to possessed students from the Random Curiousity blog site (however, the research about two other possible fairy groups was done on my own).
