Sounds more like they left a few plot points unresolved.
Maybe that new project could be a follow-up to tri.

Dark Gennai or whatever he is, has got to be the most trollish villian in digimon history, by far.

And what was that sound at the end? Anyway, Demon was mentioned and they pretty much set a possible sequel hook in the last few minutes.

Oh, and the rollercoaster of feels, I was on the verge of tears when the digimon regained their memories, and don't even get me started on Meicoomon's farewell.

Animation wise the movies stand out specially in the battle sequences.

So what's that next animation project gonna be, I wonder.

Seems like it. He was one of the few interesting things I felt Tri added to the series too.

Well they kinda take over in 02, Taichi giving his googles to Daisuke.

At least that's how they try to sell us the new cast.

Hopefully the next series will not bring another "Meiko" and turn most of episode into a therapy session of her. The series should try to introduce a more interesting character with a more unique personality.

Its also ironic that at the end Digidestined did exactly what Homeostasis wanted them do from the beginning. Despite all the drama and speech about friendship and bond.

I am also expecting a third party who will be revealed to have save Daigo from the explosion.

There are still some really comedic aspects to this whole thing. Mostly around the 02 crew. I'd love some epilogue of them basically giving the 01 crew the middle finger. "We were freaking missing and none of you noticed or cared? Oh and thanks for massacring Imperialdramon without a care in the world."

Actually now that I think about it....why was killing Meicoomon such a tough thing for them to do when they had no issues slaughtering Imperialdramon?

Thank you. I was trying to figure out who the fifth was.

I can't help but feel like the ending was the writers just throwing in the towel and saying "Screw it, we wrote ourselves into a corner. Just end it already."

It would certainly explain Omegamon's new mode. It mercifully put an end to this disappointment.

Easily the darkest entry since Tamers.

The whole part with Daigo is heartwrenching. His final message to Taichi as he's losing blood, the look on Tai's face as he realizes his homeroom teacher is staying behind, it makes you wish that Gennai knockoff will one day pay for this and all the bad things that happened to the digistined.

I guess this new project that is in the works might also be Adventure related.

Honestly between that and no one caring to ask about Daigo when Taichi returned, I'm starting to develop this weird head canon where the Adventure are sort of terrible friends to anyone not in their group.

There was also some massive shiptease with Taichi and Meiko at the end, but Agumon cockblocked him. Why was he blushing, I wonder.

There are enough dangling plot threads to fill in a completely new story.
