To sum up the episode in one image:

"You shot my Nice Hat (tm). Now prepare to die!"

More seriously... lots of fun moments of LLENN running around and M kicking ass. But things take a strange turn at the end.

That twist at the end got me laughing a bit honestly. Oh M....he's got some explaining to do.

The episode covered SECT.9-10 (+ a bit from SECT.11 in the after-credit scene).

AGGO author claims that the classical motives for Kanzaki Elsa's song in this episode were totally not added in because the musical sense-lacking author thought it'd be easier for him to imagine the song if it was based on a known piece.

https://twitter.com/sao_wikia/status/990260985234681861
AGGO author draws viewers attention to the fact that the melody for Elsa's "Pilgrim" is based on "Pachelbel's Canon", while "step, step" is based on Mussorgsky's "Promenade" from "Pictures at an Exhibition".

Beutiful action. It also showed how adventigous is standard build over speed build in regular firefight. In all honesty I wouldn't choose speed build myself either.

So, that just happened. I knew something would, but not that. Well done, GGO, especially because we also got to see the bunny being a badass.

There is probably only one character who could write it (whatever that is), right?

I don’t think so because he was not questioning the directive of reading the letter at a specific time. If M obey someone without question, the letter gotta be given to him by Pitohui.

As for the content I don’t know, it could be just a « get your ass here at 15:30 » and he wanted to log out.
Seeing as he seem to be rather a pro I think it’s more he got a real trauma at being shot at (like a war veteran or something) and the only way he can get out of the game quickly is by surrender. But llen is squad leader so she have to do it herself... or die then he become squad leader and can surrender himself.
I really think his last reaction is more of a « I want out quick but I’m scared of being shot at » then llen will go ahead and solo the last team quickly for him to be able to leave

^Like Sinon's trauma, huh?
Possible
But your scenario is too roundabout
If he asked LLENN nicely, she would be okay with surrendering imho

I agree it was Pitohui, but he was pretty causal about being shot at before (he even intentionally took arrow bullet into knee), so I doubt he is particularly scared of it.

Well, unless his trauma is limited to pink P90 only

There is a difference between taking a hit that only takes out a manageable chunk of your HP, and being at point-blank range with a pink battleloli who can probably chew through your entire HP pool in seconds.

And yet we've also seen where the speed build has advantages over the standard or STR/END build. Both of them have pluses and minuses to them, which is the point. Neither one is absolutely OP and guaranteed to dominate the game.

That's why I said: "in regular firefight". Of course she would dominate at close range, but let's be honest, who would ever want fight on such distance, especially when you lack practically any means to hurt someone in mid range and long range. Having one bullet in limb shave 90% of health doesn't help either.

As far as I am concerned it's not really worth.

Depends on the environment, doesn't it? Submachineguns exist for a reason: there are environments where gun combat is close, fast, and maneuverable. It's a very real thing, and many "regular firefights" occur in such situations. In fact, those tend to occur far more often than mid-to-long range combat where a rifle is really useful.
