Yep, that's the principle.
-------------------------------------------------------- Random xover harem list... vocaloid Hatsune Miku: The dependable classmate. Kagamine Rin: Little Yakuza genki girl. Megurine Luka: The questionable onee-san. Kamui Gumi: split personality between sweet wallflower "Gumi" and the human predator "Megu". SF-A2 Miki: The bubbly android... people ignore the fact she's an android. Lily: Cool rocker girl. IA: Cynical toumei-ko(invisible girl)[could not think of a better term]. |

When the unit become dangerous to it's own existence maybe. People often call it 'deadly upgrades' or 'bleeding edge tech'.
Mind you I'm just speculating based on my own ideas, there's absolutely no canon confirmation in this. Frame reset itself is mostly returning the unit to factory setting (canon), but the idea is data purge is done to destroy excess part left in the data storage. So the unit has 0 experience, so to speak. EDIT: So Frame reset = Attribute resetting Data purge = Level resetting Frame reset is reversible, data purge is not.

@ Stratos
Nah, it will just hit a dead end or something, hence the Generation shift. For example, LV20 Gen-1 will be stronger than Lv1 Gen-2, but Lv20 Gen-2 will be stronger than gen0-1 of same level. The Next generation will always have higher base stat and thus higher cap stat. But of course, I take a jab at Rain's idea once about Gen-6 I.S. who CAN continuously evolve, the result was of course singularity (due to the lack of need for innovation, it's very existence means innovation) @ Demi if it's only about core transfer, there's no need for data purge, only frame reset, and all the development data will be stored within the frame itself.

@ Demi
Well, the frame itself evolving, though everything is indeed because of the I.S. core's influence. So unless the frame is specifically programmed to do so (like training machines), I don't think it'll magically reset to level 1 when the core is removed. Even then, it's stated in canon that even idle training I.S.es continuously gather data for improvement. It's the data application that is regulated by I.S. core. @ Eras Hmm, why?

If the bandana is the only thing custom, just a few curious stares and nothing else.
You know how crazy their definition of custom uniform is. in mine, Dan's bandana is his I.S. closed form, and by default similar to knight visor.

Nothing to do. I'm just watching Burn Notice to get ideas. As an undercover agent, one of the best tools you have is making it look like a bad guy is a good guy to their boss. This means they're blamed foe being "the law".
Unfortunately, this backfires when the person you accuse of being a good guy actually is a good guy, and you just sentence a good man to death.

@stratos: if its a ghetto bandana thn she's gonna get attention
@zero: I posted a rather odd IS concept yesterday. would it be so odd for a glitched core to exist? maybe it would even suffice as to why Ichika can pilot IS. He piloted the ejtrance exam uchigane which was rigged but other than byakushiki, he hasn't piloted any other IS |

That theory have been done long before you and I join this forum. Considering that there's no confirmation of 001 being a glitch, and Tabane just being ambiguous not confirming whether she rig the test or not, I'm a firm believer that Ichika is just that special, rather than his core. That will make his position bad really. @ Eras oookay, not my cup of tea, but that sounds a good show with great appeal.

Meh, it's mostly for narration purposes. The show shows great examples of both action scenes that deal with more than just shooting guns. As you said in my drafts, I need to add more definitions and narration, right?
Side note - Did you read the fanfic?
