I really do like Hina Ichigo more and more as the show goes. Ep 5 is simply fun and entertaining filler. Really can't stand seeing Seki's and Ichigo's chibi faces (that's what i called MOEEEEEEE )
Ep 6 is rather serious since Suigin Tou came in contact with Shinku again. This time they let us know a bit more of Alice game.
Nice job Ayu for bringing us these 2 episodes
Looking forward for ep 7 as the end of ep 6 is such a cliffhanger.

Btw Wandering_Youth, u messed up with the episode numbers

Yep, I started to like Ichigo more as well because of episode 5. It was a really fun episode and the way she acts, soo cute.

yeah, loved episode 5, this is the first time i've seen Shinku act as a bashful feminine type!!!

She must really like kun-kun

it was so out of character for her, i guess we all have our weak points! ehehehehe
And episode 6 shows us that we have some hidden strong points too...

You know, that depends. If we get some sort of bizarre setup where Shinku is 'turned into a real girl' by Father a la Pinnochio, the Christian right would allow it (Why? No clue). Of course, one thing that seemed a little unusual is that Sugin Tou (sp) is much larger than the other three introduced. Something close to 4 feet! Is there some effect on size from the Alice game, as I would expect that Tou would have tore her way through a few of the Rozen Maidens by now (i.e. The more Mysticas you collect, the more life size you become).

Naw the religious right doesnt like magical stuffs anyway. To them there is only God's power or miracles and nothing else. But I was only joking about banning cuz if we are talking about nut cases like religious extremists, then we should know that they don't need a reason to do anything to restrict other people's freedoms.

BTW the names of the dolls in Kanji sound a lot better then in English cuz those name actually has meaning like "Shinku" means True Red, and Shingen Tou means mercury lamp. The name kind of give out the looks and personalities of the dolls.

well, that's why the names don't look as good in english as in kanji, Shinku is 真红 , which sounds quite fitting to her character too

This show is unexpectedly great. I like how the dolls are completely different in personality and how the VAs fit their roles perfectly.

真紅(Shinku), 雛苺(Hinaichigo), 水銀燈(Suigintou), 翠星石(Suiseiseki), and 蒼星石(Souseiseki) are the Kanji names. Someone please clarify their meanings.

EDIT:

To Vallen Chaos Valiant: Thanks for the help. I added links.

Thank's, Lance. I've been looking for the name of the Rozen Maidens for some time.

Here is what I believe the names mean: (feel free to correct me if I am wrong.)

真紅: True Red (as others mentioned, linked to her powers in rose petals?)

雛苺: 雛=immature, small, wet-behind-the-ears.. 苺=Berry.
Therefore Small berry/young berry. (note her powers are linked to berry vines.)

水銀燈: 水銀=Mercury 燈=Lamp. Not sure if it's linked to her powers in any way.

翠星石: 翠=one-half of a word that means emerald. I suspect it implies the colour 'green'. 星石=Star stone/star jewel
Therefore 'Green star Jewel'

蒼星石: 蒼=an old Chinese word for 'blue', usually used to describe the sky. 星石=as above. Star Jewel
Therefore 'Blue star Jewel'

Hope this helps.

Have a nice day.

It's more or less like the definitions that Vallen Chaos Valiant said, but just to add to what he said:

"蒼星石: 蒼=an old Chinese word for 'blue', usually used to describe the sky. 星石=as above. Star Jewel
Therefore 'Blue star Jewel'"

Instead of saying 蒼 is an old Chinese word for 'blue' (I'm not saying you are wrong), I think it's more appropriate to say it's 'blue' in Japanese kanji, since it still frequently being used in Japan in present days and oftenly it's part of the Japan family name, while Chinese rarely even use this word modern day life to represent 'blue' anymore (usually you may only find it being used in books/novels like on myths and legends etc)

Meh, it's pretty cold all day around during the winter so my fingers are always a bit numb.

On-Topic: I just want to retract my assumption that Shinku isn't a French made doll, instead her true origin is actually from Germany. Judging by the snapshots of the books she reads during episode 6.

It is terrible Chinese: in many cases you cant break the sentence/term up and
translate the meaning of each segment and then put them back together. It will never work.

It is true that 水銀=Mercury 燈=Lamp. But 水銀燈 (as a whole ) just means
spotlight.

Btw, anyone knows German here? I guess the names have more to do with
the German meanings than the Chinese ideographs here..... Well i dunno
but it is painfully obvious German plays some key role in this anime.

well, episode 3 has the title 水銀燈 and "Mercury Lamp" under it.

蒼 is pale blue, more often used to describe the sky or something old and grand.

翠 is avid green, more often used to describe something fresh and lively.

for 真紅 True Red, I think apart from the use of rose, it also has a touch of honor and elegance to it.

Time to give this thread a bump. I just saw episode 08 and 09 that's been sitting on my harddrive for a couple of days (been studying hard for final exams, just wrote my Physics 101 final, 4 more to go ).

Spoiler for comments on 08 and 09:
