The use of returning characters could be really complicated if Kojima is planning a Solid sequel. The only two returning characters besides Raiden were Sunny and Boris (he was actually planned to appear in Solid Rising. In fact the codec once has Boris remebering when he first met Raiden). I'm also curious about if Raiden will be Black Cyborg Knight again or what's with his

Two things that immediately come to mind when thinking of a Rising 2.

1) A more refine system for non-lethal combat; while I'm not a hardcore MGS fan that obsesses over no-kill and I perfectly understand why in the context of this story Raiden must kill, but no reason why future games has to be the same. Give them a separate meter for non-lethal damage... Oh and don't count robot deaths as kills because... That's stupid -_-

2) Personally, I would like to see them set up a new protagonist to take Raiden's place- might not be immediate, but keeping him on stand-by wouldn't hurt.

I think a good non-lethal way of doing things with the cyborg enemies would be to just incapacitate them. Basically just cut all their limbs off. It sounds gruesome but lore-wise you could explain that systems needed for survival are in the head and torso and removing the limbs doesn't actually kill them. Then ally teams can come in when you leave to pick them up. Keep in mind, most of the soldiers you face are brains in cyborg bodies

Hell, in the codec they mention that the reason your enemies explode when defeated is to protect whatever secrets are in their body. Their contract with Desperado states that should they be incapacitated their bodies will self-destruct. So maybe a method of preventing that self-destruct mechanism can be done in-game for the sequel

So how is the game? Is the battle system interesting enough throughout the entire stretch? Are the environments as boring as they look in the trailers? What about the story; is it as complex and enjoyable as the regular MG titles or more in the vein of Bayonetta and such?

If MGR2 will take place sometime in the future, I wanna see Lil' John be Raiden's successor and earn the Title "Jack the Ripper" v2.0.

Well the reason why I said that was because in my experience, fans do not response well to new protagonists that comes out of nowhere. I'm working on the assumption that Raiden can't be the protagonist forever, and he'll need a replacement eventually. So it's better to 'ease' people into the idea of someone else... That's my suggestion anyway.

That's an understandable action to take with the Metal Gear series at least. Raiden's fan reception was pretty bad after he came out of nowhere in MGS2 after all. At least MGS4 redeemed him and resulted in an awesome badass of a character.

I suppose Naked Snake sort of came out of nowhere in MGS3 too, but since he looked, sounded and acted exactly like Solid Snake in that game, he was probably accepted much easier than Raiden was. (And I doubt many people knew he was actually Big Boss around it's original release.)

I was thinking of that as well.

Another case would be DMC4's Nero.

Considering the ending of Rising, it screamed sequel with Raiden as a playable character

How so? Voice acting is great, story is great, characters are okay. Raiden is great. Gameplay except not being able to parry during heavy is great.

Kojima also thinks it's gerat.

A DLC mission involves Raiden in a beat em up game using only his fists
