Its just a theory. I haven't bothered to explain how or what makes it work, and this was what led to the giant IS in the first place.

I do however theorize that IS cores turn mind power to physical power. How that occurs, or if there's any risk of IS eventually turning people into mindless batteries is anyone's guess.

But do know that my fic is full of high adventure. Things that are dark or belong to the "Fear the Machine" trope are toned down or subverted. Mistrusting IS runs counter to my fic, and hence why I added the positive intent caveat.

Like grim dark, Rage Against The Machine is far too overused. I for one would like to create a setting where machines are much more trustworthy than other humans. How rare do you get to do that? Hardcoding this into the IS achieves this goal, and does not deviate far from what is 'logical'.

Because the IS itself defies all laws of physics...

It's easy enough to make reasons as to why anybody else could be chosen.

Laura - Chifuyu took Ichika to Germany and befriended Laura.

Charlotte - Moved to Japan and got close to the Orimura family.

Tatenashi - Became a servant/butler of the Sarashiki family in order to help Chifuyu support them both.

Cecilia - No clue Maybe adopted temporarily by Orimura family in order to protect her from her family?

@ Meister - Interesting concept to work with. Yes, rage against the machine is overused but the reason behind it is simple. The IS caused the social imbalance. They don't hate the machine, just what it ended up doing. Most of us subvert the rage against the machine trope anyway.

Better to have just her, and if you're going to include the IS, have it as a background thing, them not thinking any more of it than we do about the statistics of people that die on the road. Ofcourse this is all up to you, and I can't say this idea hasn't been slightly touched upon before either.

It may be boring but it's what people like to read. Look at the reviews for Shadow compared to the fluff stories. Daydreams alone has more than double of it despite it being corny stroytelling from a guy who doesn't know anything about romance.
