It was inevitable really. Demon Queen was basically making the southern nations less dependent on the central ones. She was also educating them which leads to as someone else said reformation and other events. I mean the end goal for Hero and Demon Queen is basically a better society and world at large than what has existed for demons and humans in the past. The goals of Central and some of the demons like the Walrus General runs against those ideals which will bring about conflict whether they wanted it or not.

Actually, if the cards are played right this might be avoided. Now that the DQ has (ironically) been taken as a Saint she will mostly get the support of all the other Southern Kingdoms (save for Winter Night). More importantly the Hero can support her publicly as he popular among the people both in the Central and Southern Kingdoms. This may also give the Merchant some leeway to pull some strings in the Union (which currently controls the world's economy) to secretly invest in the CS.

The combination of her raising popularity due to a strong power base (the Heroes, Southern King/Queens, and the population in general) and the threat of economic backing from the Union moving to the Southern Nations would force the Main Church and Central Governments to accept her. Otherwise it means them losing more of their already waning influence and wealth.

I'm liking the thought process going on here, and even if it may end up differently, there truly is a lot of potential with the DQ's position. Of course, the potential for war has grown exponentially as well. Though all of this really doesn't matter until we find out what kind of mess the real DQ is in!

In the hands of a story of lesser quality this would be the part where DQ gets amnesia, turns evil, and wages war. Hero then would go on a 50 chapter journey to get her back, full of drawn-out action, innumerable romantic rivals (and a potential NTRing with the "dark" DQ getting a new beau), topped off with Hero giving a "speech worthy of Heaven" that somehow solves everyone's problems.

I can confidently say I expect nothing of the sort from this title!

So i finally read Ch5-6 raws of Maoyuu Maou Yuusha Gaiden and there's some interesting revelations.

Spoiler for ch5 -6:

Witch Girl and her demon companion arrive at Fairy village and greeted by the Fairy Queen. After a change of clothes, (which she looks pretty), she explores the village and finds a mysterious tome which she opens. Unfortunately, the tome is actually a seal for the previous Demon King!

So it turns out, in the past, a group of human heroes fought and defeated the Demon King but decided to let him live and go home. Not long after that, our Demon Queen(before she became the Queen), Head Maid and their armies defeated the Demon King and his forces and sealed him into a tome. Both the Demon King and Witch Girl fight but the King is too powerful. The Demon King then sends Witch Girl into a imaginary world where the Heroes who defeated him failed and were killed by him. Too bad for Demon King, the lead Hero who defeated him looks too much like Witch's Hero which pisses her off (This might be the first time we ever seen her get angry) that she breaks out of the imaginary world and destroys him! (Yes. Witch Girl just killed the previous Demon King!)

As thanks, Fairy Queen gives the tome to Witch Girl for her to learn.

So the Witch Girl gaiden manga is finally getting translated, art style is pretty good and I have to say Demon Queen was pretty cute, probably second best looking art next to the main manga.
