Negima Manga Discussion
Have people here tried this manga already ? It's quite basic "ecchi" story about 10-year old sorcerer apprentice boy being english teacher for class of 31 girls. It has lot's of Love Hina influences, like "naru" girl, that kicks main character around and all --.. Also the drawing style is very same looking as in Love Hina. Although it's quite usual manga-- I enjoyed it very much. There are plenty of different kinda characters, and the plot might get intresting later on (I think there has been only 5 chapters out). This one could have potential for being made as anime in my opinion..

I've heard about this. It's supposed to have 30 characters, and be more perverted than Love Hina.
Personally, I just can't wait until A.I. Love You is released (since it is the only other Akamatsu manga to be releaed in North America so far). I can never find scanlations when I want them. |

Its call Magister Negi Magi and this is the story outline from what I heard.
The protagonist is a 10 year old boy that knows magic. He is send to a high school posing as a teacher to study magic secretly. And guess what, the lucky dude has 30 students in his class, all very pretty girls. Pretty standard Akamatsu fair if you ask me... IIRC, the chinese translations is at book 2 already. |

Book 3 is also out in Japanese. The first English translation is supposed to come out in early 2004 by Del Rey.
There is definitely the usual fanservice (miniskirts being blown up and etc.) drawings, but Akamatsu-san's fight scenes look to have improved since his "Love Hina" days. Not a terriby deep manga, but still fun. |

I say it's evil. It's like his old gangbang card captor sakura dojins revisited. It's a love story with a 9 year old boy (he's 'ALMOST' 10... *sigh*) in a position where a group of extremely well-endowed middle school students are in love with him. I don't mean like 'Awe, he's so cute', I mean like jealous over which gets to rub their breasts over his face. At first I decided to give it a chance because I didn't hate love hina, as I'm usually capable of enjoying things at face value (if it has no plot, then I don't read it for the plot... and no, Love Hina has no plot). But seriously. By chapter 5 I started skipping it when I read Shonen Magazine because it was so wrong on so many levels.
If you want a Love Hina-esque story by Akamatsu, go with 'Ai ga Tomarenai'... I think it's something like 'Ai Love You' in the English release, but I'm not sure. It's pretty standard, a Weird Science rip, really. Computer nerd creates the perfect girl simulation program, said girl comes to life. She uses programs to change her clothes and learn things, ect. It's cute, and there's far less gratuitous fanservice in it (although it's still there... they just don't always end up in a giant bath at the end of each chapter). And best of all, it doesn't have truly sick characters. Sure, some are kinda perverted, but none are sick. |

It reminds me a lot of the "Hanaukyo Maids" manga that IC is putting out... assuming that the company remains in business. Negi is at least fairly likeable, and he looks to be developing as a character, which is a surprise.
Don't get me wrong; there are scenes in the manga that made me go . I mean, girls competing with one another to be Negi's "betrothed" - or so they thought, and what's with that ermine (ferret?)! Good grief. |

You know, this is the third thread so far made to talk about Negima. And this will be the second time that I denounce it for being pedophilia-driven.
And for some reason, that site won't fully load for me (It just kinda... stops... weird), but if it's scanslations then you're breaking board rules, as this series has been licensed since before volume 1 was published. If it's just raw scans... I don't know what the rules are regarding those. |

Akumatsu is a god to me, since he created the Love Hina Saga. As you can see im a huge fan of his works. Mahou Sensei Negima his new project is cool, it reminds me of Harry Potter, so far I have read ch1 and I love it, it reminds me of Love Hina a whole lot. Although some ppl think his newest manga is perverted and sick and is evil, I have great respect for the man and his works and so as the other thousands of fans worldwide.
