(L) Halo - The Anime (anthology)

Studio 4C right off the bat. And unlike Samurai something or whatever it was voiced by Samuel Jackson, this story is so much more interesting. The voice acting in general is also very good as can be heard in that youtube clip posted above. I'm so looking forward to this. Microsoft got enough money, so the animators won't have to worry about going overboard on strict budget. All they have to worry about is managing the script. Looking at those studios, they have always attracted good directors for most of their produced series.

It's the ODST Helljumpers. All they have to do is be extremely bloodthirsty and quite possibly emotionally unstable.

In all seriousness, though, maybe he has good marksmanship (good marksmanship in movies etc usually means being a sniper) compared with the other guys (who might be good in hand to hand combat, an important trait when fighting the Covenant).

It doesn't matter how good a sniper you are if you're not strong enough to lug around that 14.5mm anti material rifle the UNSC uses. Just the rifle and ammo probably weighs more than half as much as O'brien does. Just carrying that would be extremely difficult, much less using it unsupported while standing up like you see ODST do on occasion. All while wearing full body armor...no, scrawny 5'0 commando's do not really make that much sense considering ODST kit.

Though I suppose this is all irrelevant, since according to Frankie the heights you see on screen are just artistic license. O'brien is really 5'10 and presumably any ludicrous height difference isn't really there...which makes you wonder why they put it in the first place.

1st episode was interesting. Not sure if i liked the drawing/style too much, but it was definitely cool to see this animated.

^Heh, I think we'll just have to accept that they're going to take some (probably many) liberties. Could nitpick it after comparing to the source material or other logical conclusions but if the people making it never intended to follow all these rules I'm not sure what purpose it will serve.

Yes, it does seem absurd, but she IS a spartan, she's got a helmet on at like...all times. Plus a bald anime character wouldn't look as appealing here...I like it though, definitely makes the spartan seem much more human-like (not saying soldiers aren't).

Also, the helmet is irrelevant. Although people give many different reasons for having short hair in the military (uniformity, nothing for the enemy to grab onto during hand-to-hand combat, etc.), the principle reason for having short hair over long hair is because it's simply more hygienic. If anything, wearing a helmet would make it even more crucial to sport short hair (or none at all) because (a) it would be easier for sweat and oil to accumulate and (b) hair that long can actually keep the helmet from seating properly on the head. But then again, anime is anime, amirite? Hell, O'Brien is the size of a leprechaun (which explains his name and hair) and both the Spartan and the Helljumpers look way too bulky.

It feels strange watching dubbed anime, seeing as how the last dubbed anime I watched was probably Pokemon way back in elementary school. Overall, I'd say it was enjoyable, but I'd like to see if the other studios are any better. I feel that too many artistic liberties were taken this time around; and I'm not necessarily against that, it's just that I prefer when re-interpreters stick to the source material.

Wasn't that due to the fact that the animators made both the MJOLNIR and the ODST armor extremely bulky?

And no, she's not dead. All Spartans are listed as MIA.

Naval Intel doesn't let ANYONE know that Spartans can die. The ODST blabbering about it would probably end up with them shoved out an air lock by an ONI spook.

Yes, even though she was only a supporting character.

Also, the shorts are not inter-connected, so a character will probably never play a significant role in more than one episode unless the it's a two-part story.
