Well, the episode has not aired yet. Here's some brief thoughts...

I'm curious to see how people react to the "Gundam" returning. Is it immediately recognised? If not, why not. I'll be particularly curious to see Aina's reaction, since she's more of a civilian - I think she recognised it as a Mobile Suit but not a Gundam, so does she know what as "Gundam" is or is that forgotten? Also, what's happened to Aina's maid.

Gjallarhorn have two MS remaining. I suspect the old man is going to survive but what about the younger guy?

I had originally expected the orphans to abandon the place and go into hiding after the events that started here but looking at the OP it looks more like they'll stay. It has everything they need and is a reasonably defensive position. Curious to see how things develop longer run. Did the CGS adults survive and will they try to reclaim it?

Can't wait to see what will Mika/Barbatos do to the remaining two Grazes beside throwing the mace at them. Barba doesn't have any ranged weapons yet, does it? Those Grazes can just shoot it with their rifles from a safe distance, theoretically-speaking .

I just watched the RAW. My Japanese has gotten a bit rusty but here's some thoughts.

It's good overall. Some things I was expecting didn't happen but in a good way perhaps as it will likely make the story more interesting. It's keeping with the more sombre and gritty mood.

Basically what happens is that Mika's Gundam runs low on power (or something, didn't quite pick up the technical term but maintenance guy forgot to do something) and the honourable old guy takes the opportunity to retreat. Jerkass enemy commander confirmed as dead and younger pilot was injured significantly. Honourable old guy was surprised to find out he's fighting children and believes that they were coerced. So far he's the only clearly honourable adult in the series.

Mika fought well. He's clearly used to a battlefield. It was an interesting fight because instead of his Gundam feeling overpowered it felt more like the opposite - ie that they won more because of Mika's piloting skills than anything else. I'm not sure if anybody has recognised it as a Gundam though. Looks like it'll take a lot of work to get it back to full operating condition. Unfortunately, because it ran out of power, there wasn't much they could do the stop the GCS adults returning, which felt annoying at the time but Orga is already planning to stage a real planned rebellion against them so my disappointment turned into turned into anticipation.

Mika doesn't say much but what he does say is generally significant and meaningful. It was very clearly highlighted that he can't read early in the episode (amusing in a way) but he's not bothered about it at all. He clearly trusts Orga completely but it's not like his world is limited to Orga either. My opinion of him is rising. Orga wasn't able to do much to prevent the adults returning but he knows that they either have to rebel properly now or they'll be killed (directly or indirectly). He handled the situation well and though he himself didn't fight or looks likely to get much real combat he acted like a commander should.

Aina is becoming more interesting too. As I said last week, I think she is interesting because she has a lot of growth potential - she has a long way to go but if she is developed well then she could become a compelling character who we see earning the right to be important and significant to the world rather than simply starting that way. We see both aspects of this here. She is still naive and has a lot to learn but she's also clearly capable - she has already guessed that it's possible that her father sold her out and doesn't want to return until she's sure one way or another. She was very shocked that the kids have "Whiskers" - I don't think she had any idea before. Also, it seems she has in the past given speeches on how the children of Mars are suffering - so while it's clear that she's been paying attention it also seems she hasn't realised just how bad it can get. She has a lot of sympathy for the kids but what will she do next? She has a reason not to return but does she have a reason to stay? If she stays how will she react to Orga's coup? I think she finds Mika to be a bit scary but at the same time I think she wants to (figuratively and maybe literally) give him and the other children a big comforting hug and support them.

Looking forwards to next episode. Looks like we're going to get Orga's coup and the return of Gjallarhorn.

Man this series is awesome. The important characters has depths. I really like the Old Lt, shame he's almost guaranteed to die next ep. Mika is also not a one dimensional soldier like Setsuna or Heero. And I'm almost certain Orga wont betray Mika, he really respects Mika but and the same time gave him a look that I think shows brotherly love.

Seriously, is this gonna be a repeating theme for the next few episodes? Because I like it At least she is aware of her ignorance though, and not being self-righteous about it much.

I actually like some of the little and not-so-little details going on this episode, like how Mikazuki's view changes from being inside the cockpit to looking directly out the Gundam's eyes on startup, and the fact that Barbatos needs thruster fuel (most Gundams just go with reactor energy = thrust). The Barbatos fight was a bit too short for my liking, but it looked good, so there's that.

Dear heavens. 42 child-soldiers from the Third Group just died from this “little skirmish”. That’s one helluva reality check for our resident princess, and it deeply hurt Crank’s conscience too. The fact that he didn’t know until Mika told him that their squad was killing child-soldiers made him lost every confidence retreated from the fight and helped prevent the total annihilation of CGS. He’s such a good man inside. But after that, he requested to sortie alone to “deal with” the children and prevent other soldiers to go with him. I wonder what he’ll do since he really doesn’t want to hurt those children. Will he just do as he was ordered and eliminate CGS child soldiers? I hope he has a better plan. But either way, his waving a very huge death-flag in his next mission. I really hope he survive it, but this Gundam after all so.....

Btw, I do find the fact that only Ein’s Graze that has a rifle to be rather convenient. Even if he’s a veteran, Crank can only do so much with only an axe (where’s his rifle gone, anyway? Did he not bring it coz it’s just a “small mission”). On the other hand, Ein can barely do anything even with the rifle since he’s just a newbie. The fact that Mika/Barbatos was trying his hardest to evade Graze’s rifle shots can be regarded as a sign that the rifle is still effective against the Gundam (especially if aimed at the exposed frames). And thank god Mika is smart enough to evade the shots by jumping around and making smoke screen. Seriously though, Barbatos needs a ranged weapon or a good shield ASAP for the upcoming threats. Agility and smoke-screen alone won’t work forever against raining of bullets/artilerry.

I think this episode just answer it. If Graze's rifle is really useless against a Gundam which frame is exposed for everyone to see, Mikazuki won't put that much effort evading and using Gjallarhorn's Workers as shield like he did here.

lol, twin little sisters. Funny name for Bicuit's family but its a heartwarming sight. The first group are still an arse but they would be remove. The major that called for the assassination is also an arse but he would probably be caught by shneaizel look-alike.

Nice interaction between Mika ant the princess relena copy. She really doesn't know anything and Mika sees through it.

Boring plot device to extend the battle till next week. I can't believe they forgot loading the machine with fuel.

There is highly possible that each graze might have their custom weapon, otherwise, Crank should knew that going is only resulted in his death.

I actually like the Gundam battle this time, they actually used sand screen and destroyed mobile suits as shield. I wonder if Mika ever regained Barbatos lost cockpit

the bromance is too high in this one i almost ship Mika x Orga for a second when Orga talking about Mika opinion. Sadly, his death/mask flag got a hell lot more apparent compare to the previous ep.

Am i the only one feeling tragic for Atra?? i mean, no gundam, ever end well for multiple heroine and none gundam end in Harem either, and the most common route for Gundam always resulted in 1 heroine death....
