New Lupin III Anticipation

ANN just posted this article regarding a new Lupin III series announced in France today.

Quote:
The production of a new Lupin III anime series was announced at the ongoing MIPCOM event in Cannes, France on Tuesday. It will be the first full-fledged Lupin III television anime series to star the legendary thief character since 1984-85's Lupin III: Part III ended three decades ago. (Sayo Yamamoto and TMS Entertainment made the Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine television anime spinoff in 2012.)

The story of the new series will take place in Italy and San Marino. The series is set to have its world premiere on Italy's RTI channel next spring. MIPCOM is the world's largest international trade event for video content, particularly for television programs.

Staff:
Chief Director: Kazuhide Tomonaga
Director: Yuichiro Yano
Script: Yuuya Takahashi

Set to premiere next Spring.

Great, just the thing to wash out the bad taste from the recent Fujiko series. Lupin is the star for a reason.

Please be in the style of Lupin III Mine no Fujiko. If not that good old fashioned sense of adventure and foppish will suffice.

Now... question is which Zenigata are we getting? Goofball try hard Zenigata from the older parts? Or is this serious, hard-boiled Zenigata from the original source/Fujiko Mine? Also... blue jacket? Is that a first?

Either way, I'll be looking forward to this... watched the original on and off growing up, loved Woman Named Fujiko Mine, really liked the Detective Conan vs Lupin III movies, really looking forward to watching this~

YES! Finally back to what it should be, Lupin who's my favorite character as the main character again.

I like that he's wearing the red jacket too, that's always been my favorite version actually

Man, I'm really looking forward to it. I never saw the last series, she's my least favorite character of the Lupin series so no I couldn't stomach it

With the new flick coming out soon about how him and his partner first meat, good times for Lupin fans to come

I'm not really familiar with the Lupin franchise besides the recent Mine Fujiko but if it's anything like that then I'm automatically sold.

I haven't seen much Lupin III, but I've enjoyed some of the stuff I have scene, so I'll probably give this a shot. Hopefully the discussion won't be totally dominated by debates about whether it should or shouldn't be like the Fujiko series.

So, should we be concerned that it's barely a month until April and there's still no date or trailer for this?

Might not be coming this Spring season? It seems to indicate that the series will premiere this year (2015) though.

It's scheduled for Spring in Italy, so it could still show up in the following month. Japan's airing was always meant to happen at a later date.
