Thankfully, on that we do agree. Wholeheartedly, even.

So, when's the translation of the original novels coming, anyway?

Not soon. I'm too full of headaches with the Misa novel right now to even worry about the novelization of the series.

Just basic translation problems. It's a pretty dense book. I feel exhausted after a few sentences... Then I put the book down for a week... Pick it up, do a another few sentences, put it down for another week...

WORK, darn it! I want to read it NAO!!!

Heh. Some fans are just pigs, aren't they?

On a more serious note: I've been translating a few english/italian/french stuff on and off for a few years now (mostly for the local Panini DC/Marvel magazines and some BD's), but I cannot even imagine the trouble it must be to translate large amounts of dense text in japanese.

Nonetheless, I just got an iPhone for my (late) birthday and someone even to the trouble of giving me a voucher for a japanese learning app. Maybe I'll be able to start understanding some stuff sooner than I thought, eh?

No, there were three or four stories that he wrote for Macross Ace. The book may also include the story from the Sheryl Visual Collection, but I'm not sure about that.

I just picked up Frontier Memories today...it looks interesting, but intimidating. All but one of the short stories in it have been previously published.

1. "Wired Warrior" (from The Sneaker magazine, Oct. 2009) - seems to be about Brera testing the YF-27 (Yes, YF).

2. "Infinity" (from the Sheryl Nome Visual Collection) - someone already summarized this a while back.

3. "Kabuki Warbird" (from Macross Ace Vol. 003) - Isamu Dyson meets Alto's father.

4. "Good Friday" (from The Sneaker, Feb. 2010) - Not sure what this one's about.

5. "Actor's Sky" (from Macross Ace Vol. 004) - Ditto.

6. Okay, I have NO IDEA what this one's called. I think the title is German. It's ミュートスノート・オルゴール. I know that "Orugooru" means "Music Box," but I have no idea what "Myuutosunooto" is, and Google isn't helping. (from The Sneaker, June 2010) - Another Brera story

7. "Dangerous Journey" (previously unpublished) - No idea what this one's about, either.

Interestingly, the latest issue of Macross Ace has another Isamu/Alto's Dad story that's not in this collection...is there a SIXTH Frontier book on the way eventually...?

Still wouldn't mind checking out Kabuki Warbird.

Dangerous Journey has quite the interesting title. Do wonder what it contains.

It's easily the longest story in the book...100 pages, just about a third of the entire volume. It starts in class, and Alto, Sheryl, Ranka, Luca, and Michael are all there. For some reason they're talking about print-outs and paper media. Klan sings at some point, and there's mention of a Sound Booster late in the story.

Can you tell I'm just flipping through the story, picking out words I know?

Sure can , and so far it sounds like slice of life Macross Frontier! If this carries on, then that's one hell of a misleading title.

I want to hear Klan sing~

Just picked up Frontier Diaries yesterday. Six stories.

1. Battlefield Anywhere (from Macross Ace Vol. 005) - Michel and Klan on a covert mission.
2. Ebony and Ivory (from The Sneaker, Oct. 2010) - A Bobby story.
3. A Drunken Dance of Heaven and Hell [at least, I *think* that's what the title means... ] (from Macross Ace Vol. 006) - More about Isamu meeting Alto's father.
4. Examination Panic (from The Sneaker, Dec. 2010) - Totally unsure what this one's about, but I think it involves Sheryl and Ranka studying for final exams, and it definitely involves Grace nattering on about "Queen 1" and "Fairy 9."
5. Tear Drop (new story) - Not sure what this one's about, either.
6. Hot Plate (from Macross Ace Vol. 007) - Sheryl and Ranka in a yakisoba cooking competition.

I may be misreading, but I think the author's afterword is saying that, after the movie novelizations come out in March and April, he'll be done with Macross Frontier. (Of course, he's still working on Macross the Ride...but that's not really Frontier.) So it seems like the second movie really WILL be the end. For now, at least.
