Maybe, I'm in the minority here, but I've never found Kaneki to be whiny or naive. He was throw legitimately terrible situation and his life (both pre and post ghoul transformation) has sucked hard with Hide and books being his only bright spot. Kaneki's dealt as with as reasonable and realistically as any normal person can be expected. He's long since come to accept his new life when still be true to his own principals and has manned up long during the Hinami/Dove Arc. Furthermore his development for the start has been constant and consistent and this isn't much different.

We aren't dealing anything like Shiniji here who spent most his time doing nothing, but rather well written complex individual who has grown through continuous turmoil reasonably.

I do think Kaneki is like Shinji in the beginning,but like you said,he grew a lot after passing through a lot of things and now he`s much cooler,unlike Shinji who didnt grew at all even after passing through quite a few things.

chapter 76 came out (was not released by hel scan) very good chapter, it was nice to see Yomo, Uta and Goumert fighting together, and it was even nicer to see Noro in action, it is sinister, this kagune seem that came out of a horror movie , aogiri is a very stylish group.

we see badass white-haired kaneki right in the opening and yamori/ayato in ending picture

i thought 13 episode was very short and impossible. but its possible after all, anime pace is fast and i dont feel im missing anything. dont know how pace in manga seems so slow (im bored as fvk in aogiri arc until the torture begins)

Gotta to say, I really like how humans in this series are always improving (the Quinque bullets, armor, etc) their ghoul tech and tactics. Unlike a lot of other series with similar theme this one of few they're not resorting to the ridiculously static strategies.

Something I'm a little confused about though:

Are they using drugs or putting them on the enemy? The translation makes things sound unclear.

And seems like Suzuya has recognized Kaneki and already putting two and two together.

Nice to see that Amon wants establish communication with Kaneki, he's starting to see ghouls as individuals rather than a homogenous mob who only care about killing.

The anime's pace would cut-out a tons of character development for most of characters and all the fleshing out that's pretty integral to the world. It would be like Index/Railgun removing all of world building and whatnot weakening the overall story and making the cast quite shallow. Personally if I want to read something just for battles and people being badass with nothing else, I have other manga and such for that. It's fine you don't necessary like it, but to me seeing how this complex conflict affects and changes the characters is one of it's main draws.

I think the anime will ultimately turn out good, but for short of potential thanks to being hamstrung by the episode count.

I think 13 episode wont be enough until kaneki turn into bad ass mode

maybe someone who has good memory here can predict. i already forgot the detail of what happened in the manga
anime episode
1-intro until kaneki meet nishio, this is actually quite fast, i thought the episode would just end when kaneki open his eyes
2-nishio get rekt by kaneki already, i dont remember but is nishio get rekt immidiately in manga too?

after this iirc the mother-children ghoul with amon and mado (2 episode maybe)
and then gourmet arc (this can be easily compressed into 2 episode)
and then finally aogiri (4 episode)
and some filler inbetween arc to kaneki develpment.
13 episode is enough i think

It's going at quite fast a pace 4-5 chapters/episode.

The arc about Hinami and her mother is actually one of the best arcs in this manga. There's not much action but the amount of trauma and depression it offers is top notch. Though I know people prefer bloody battles and stuff.

Personally I don't like Aogiri arc, it's just non stop fighting everywhere, which becomes tiring later.
