Which, as Arya pointed out, would do nothing to alleviate the suspicions directed against the teacher. After all, something in the new timeline caused the killer to delay a day. It could be that he was observing Kayo daily, and he noticed Satoru walking Kayo home, but it could also be because he found out about the party in advance.
Are they also going to remember all the other timelines in which they were killed and draw the killer into the mountain to be defeated by club traps? >_> |

I actually tried to say "there is nothing wrong with Kenya" When I made that "Wasn't it clear that they were talking about Kayo's birthday?" comment. I didn't defend the teacher.

I'm still yet to watch the latest episode and it beats Shigatsu wa uso de aru in every way. I guess the only thing I don't enjoy is the puppy romance between Fujinuma and Hinazuki. Don't get me wrong they are both strong and likable characters but I find it a little saccharine especially that 3rd episode where he takes her to his favourite place and little animals frolicking on the snow. I bet I'm the only one that feels that way.
Other than that, I love the drama, heavy tension and anxiety you feel as the main character. The anime has been very consistent with the plot pacing just right. I still wouldn't call it my top anime but a close second. The production value is top notch but what I love is the background music. It fits the somber theme it tries to portray accentuating the intensity of the anime. I tend to be very picky and I'm not sure it's going to resonate with me, it really depends on how overbearing the sentimentality is. For me only a very few anime manages to hit just the right note, so far this succeeds. It's only half way across til the 1 cour, I wonder if it will have a penultimate episode that would surpass all the episodes I have seen so far

The most realistic "puppy love" scenes I've watched were in Dennou Coil near the end of the story. Yasako and Haraken see that they have an attraction, but they're very uncertain about what to do with those feelings. Ghost Hound has a another such pair, though at thirteen Tarou is a bit older than these kids. Miyako is also ten. Again there's a lot of circling around each other.
In this show you have to factor in Satoru's 29-year-old mind. It gives him more courage to approach Kayo than one would expect to see in a pair of ten-year-olds, motivated strongly of course by the danger she faces. Without those factors, I doubt a ten-year-old boy would be as forward as he is. Certainly his classmates represent the norm that boys and girls are still pretty separated at this age. While Kayo does seem to like Satoru in a proto-romantic way, I think her attraction is driven as much by the fact that he cares about her unlike pretty much everyone else she knows.

Kayo was never loved in her life, so she was having the time of her life. She found a piece of happiness because to our MC. I do think our MC was starting to fall in love with Kayo --- he might not have realized it. He was frequently reminded of her when speaking with the other best girl :P |

He just was surprised Airi was constantly using the same "baka nano" remark as Kayo. I fail to see how that hints any romantic feelings. Plus, he is 29, so it would be hella creepy if he seriously developed romantic feelings for little a kid.

At that point, it wouldn't be creepy, IMO. |

Like yourself, I hope they have significant plans for his character. If ERASED has a very happy ending, they may well go for this. I doubt they'd have Satoru time-leap again and relive his entire childhood/adolescence all over again. But if Kayo gets saved during another Satoru time-leap, they might have Satoru jump back to the present one more time to see some significant changes there. One may well include meeting Kayo as an adult.

I doubt 29-year-old Satoru has full control over the emotions of his 10-year-old self. Had young Satoru become friends with Kayo when they were both at school, he might have become close to her then, too. We just don't know.

I mean, it's a difficult situation for him. Regardless of what Satoru wants, Kayo may well fall in love with him, at least as much as a young kid is capable of that sort of thing. If he just brushes it off entirely, he may well hurt her feelings, which could be devastating given what she's already gone through. In other words, I could understand him casually going along with being her implicit boyfriend, even if it's never said outright. Kinda like what he already did in his recent trip back to 1988, but possibly with "more of the same".
