Ooh, nice blog. Speaking of the OP, I hope they will keep something as psychedelic and upbeat as Ayakashi's third OP.
For those who want a little majokko manga from the blog I posted, clicky on the pic : @run : I'm pretty sure you've browsed through it, but the Gankutsuou part is hilarious too. (Gankutsu-sensei~ ) Last edited by Snoop'; 2007-06-02 at 16:16. |

Thanks for visiting my blog on Mononoke, Snoop. ^-^
Anyway, they have just updated the official website and apparently there is to be a Mononoke manga serialized on Young Gangan. Has anyone read Young Gangan before? What would be your impression of the manga magazine? ttp://www.square-enix.co.jp/magazine/yg/ |

Hey that's right, they've updated the official site !
Well, still nothing on it, but at least the picture has changed... Ah, the medicine seller's famous line ! "皆々様の真と理、お聞かせ願いたく候" (which can be roughly translated as "what the hell ? why the hell ? plz tell me !" ) The only series published in Young Gangan that I know are Dragon Quest and Sumomomomomo (or whatever). Hare & Guu was published in Gangan Comics, but I suppose it's a different magazine...? Last edited by Snoop'; 2007-06-06 at 17:37. |

Ryouta Komatsu seems like he can be pretty good. Well, the first OP was rap and this one's tango... quite a funky cultural mix, possibly more so than Samurai Champloo if done properly. We'll see how it goes, at least... Don't know anything about the ED though...
The cast seems pretty nice, but I agree with runpsicat - would die to hear Nakata Jouji in a dramatic old-Japan setting like this. The voice acting of Bakeneko was spectacular and very well handled; if we get the same level here then that alone would be enough of a reason for me to enjoy it... Also, I admit part of what made Bakeneko interesting was how there were a lot of genuinely interesting old characters and they were very well portrayed, and were acted out really well by older voice actors (for the most part, anyway). I wonder if what seems like a younger cast here will mean younger characters as well? Or are they just releasing the big names first, hm. Or maybe they're really not that much younger. sigh, still a little less than 2 weeks more... EDIT: Oooh, so Kayo from the first season is making a comeback in Umibouzu! Awesome! I'm so glad they didn't forget about her. Can we also have Sasaoka plzkthx? Call me strange, but you know aside from "Abunai. Desu. Yo", the next phrase that I KEEP remembering for no reason is "Damarinasai, Sasaoka." ... maybe because it's said with each syllable or something. I don't know. What a strange phrase to keep remembering.

Oh man, I'd die to have Nakata Jouji show up (somehow) as Sakurai's arch-nemesis black medicine seller, even if that'd probably ruin the show and make it become some trite shounen series. Ah, the evil laugh... how I miss thee ;_;

Geez, they could update this sort of valuable information on the official site... Thanks for the news and the translation.
Oh, so, this will be a tentacle story ? BTW, 曰くありげな ("iwakuarigena") means that it has an ominous history/background. Typically, there could have been a child murder in this room... And I think the name of the proprietress ("okami") of the inn is Hisayo (although Kushiro was a nice try ). I'm not sure about it, but the name of the inn could be "Yorozu-ya" (see here for the kanji). Gah, less than 3 weeks to go ! This series has better not disappoint me. Preemptive bump !
First episode airs on 7/12, and the psychedelic visual is still there... And at last, the official site was updated (although nothing important). |
