ThunderCats (2011 Series)

A new ThunderCats series is coming in 2011. And it's a collaboration with a Japanese studio again.

Possibly every cartoon ever made is rebooted as a series or a movie . Though I am waiting for the He Man remake

Yes, because little girls didn't play 'pretend' based of this series back in the 80's at all. To think that there are fangirls about, is most proposterous!
So it's an anime they're making, rather than a live action hollywood movie.
Shame
In the meantime, I'll just cry over what 'should have been' and continue to live in hope as some very talented peeps torment our fragile souls

Technically they're not making an anime version of Thundercats, since if you were to take into account the fact that the original was animated by Japanese studios (Pacific Animation Corporation, which would later spawn Studio Ghibli), then you might call it an anime as well. In fact, some of the more famous cartoons from the 80's were animated by Japanese studios - Sunrise was responsible for the animation of titles like The Centurions for example.

What they're doing here is no more than what they did in the past: The creative minds are American, but they're getting Japanese animation studios to animate it.

There was one in 2002. Was actually pretty good, stayed faithful to the original but updated it nicely. Was canceled when CN went stupid and started catering to preteens.

New TC, anime-style? I'll say, finally the advanced animation of today will get some decent plot to work on! And since I hadn't finished the original Thundercats, might as well watch it.

Was actually talking about the Live Action adaptation from 80s Masters of Universe starring Dolph Lundgren () as He Man . Way too corny by Modern standards : )

Yeah, the He-man remake was very good; very nice stories. But in order to know the real reason for the cancellation, you have to understand that the cartoon was a bit expensive, and made just to sell toys (thus, you keep having to introduce new characters and powers, even if one-off, to make new toys). Then Hasbro was an idiot, and made too many He-man and Skeletor toys, and not enough of the others, so the merchandise didn't all sell. Thus, profits were down and the show was axed.

Pretty dumb.

But onto Thundercats. This is one series I can see doing a good remake. The original was pretty far ahead for it's time, with changing storylines, arcs, and decent characters. It was a bit campy, but I can see a lot of potential for a remake. Let's hope they actually do a good job with story arcs.

it could be completely irrelevant, but it's kinda weird and convenient this news comes out after the writer from the original series was found murdered a couple weeks ago...I'm not trying to start any crack conspiracy theories lol, it's just the timing.

I don't like this idea at all. The original is timeless and I don't think it's going to be outmatched...and seeing as Cartoon Network's programming is very "kiddy" now and days, I doubt I'll be impressed...especially if this is coming from the same makers as Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
