I have a big peeve with people who think adding another male IS pilot to the story just to have another male OC is cool. That's what nearly every IS fic is about, another new male IS pilot. Everyone does the exact same thing and they think that it's cool when all you guys are doing are xerox-copying the same concept that every other person has done and NOT put a new and interesting spin on it.

Put short, majority of Male IS pilots in fics are Mary Sue characters. And very badly written ones at that. People consistently bash me for doing the opposite (Female OC that's NOT an IS pilot and gets her ass kicked by an IS). They accuse me of writing a Mary Sue character (because it's a girl and not a guy). And then they harp upon their male IS pilot character is cooler by showing up Ichika at every turn and managing to sleep with one or more of the girls. That's practically the gist of every bad IS fic ever written, right there.

There are a few people who can use this idea and actually make it work, and they work HARD at making the story work. All you're doing is whining about why there isn't one when there's thousands of them out there.

If you think you can write an ACTUAL GOOD FANFIC with a male IS pilot in it then go do so. Then show me. Don't blather pointlessly about how cool having another male IS pilot is on a FANFICTION thread and not actually do anything about it.

But hey, that mean a 13 years old girl put modern military to shame! And the Brunhild was crowned when she was 16 (If 2nd Mondo Grosso happened when Ichika was 7, with the siblings gap is 8 years)!

Chipping in a little here in regards to Ichika; as a fanfic author, you can decide what you wish to do with Ichika. There are reasons why people would decide to forego with Ichika entirely... Myself for example, the fic I'm working on has little to no interaction with the canon characters.

It's full-on OCs with their own story. Brushing up on first arc as I type out the chapters is quite a challenge knowing that my story has virtually NOTHING to do with the canon storyline nor the characters. (Also, waiting on Masuzu's vetting)

Canon character interaction slowly phases in for the second arc. Example is having Tatenashi advising an OC Russian Cadet (who is in a dilemma as to what she really wants to pursue by studying in the ISA)
