Hello everyone, I just recently started watching One Piece and I'm loving it so far

. Anyhow, I just finished watching episode 20, and I was curious as to what Johnny's tattoo means? I've attached a capture of it. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I read somewhere that it means "sea" or "ocean". Can't remember where, though.

It's a chinese/jap. charcater meaning ocean or sea.

A pirate saved Johnny's life when he was a child. The pirate that saved him had that same kanji on his clothing. Johnny had the pirate's kanji tattoed on his face in order to respect the pirate/remember him. I'm sorry that I dont know the pirates name.

i think that guy was a bounty hunter, but he was technically not part of the manga

although i did like that episode (135)

i wondered at the time if oda had helped them any with the filler (he did do character designs for the OVA, apis, and movie 1, he just didnt write them)
