So Hanazawa's second representative with Kuro as a name (or nickname) to reach the top 8, (the first being Ruri Gokou (Kuroneko) in the quarterfinals last year) reaches the final match. While not as many votes as Toki, it was still a convincing win for Kuro Matsumi.

Toki is the likely prediction for the final match, but I'm still supporting Kuro all the way.

This might explain a bit of what has happened this year: The organizers are a slight bit 'chunni' with reality being rented by "Joes' restaurant" at this time every year. In their delusions they are witnessing epic battles with millions of votes cast. Us viewers however...are watching stock standard mahjong with score-lines ripped from the pages of Wisden.

All of a sudden, it seems Kuro carries with her not just the hopes of her Achiga teammates, but also the hopes of every other HanaKana character who fell in battle before her. She has a lot riding on her shoulders especially with the odds stacked against her.

Now if only they'd actually wake up to reality and see the ongoing disaster caused by their xenophobic policies... A measly 384 total votes for a Semifinal match?

Here's to hoping that we don't get even worse numbers next year.

Did you miss the entire first half of Achiga which was incredibly bad paced? Not that the source was better but it was still bad.

Rooting and predicting Toki victory, thus becoming Saimoe champion, which she deserve.

Nobody deserve to be the Saimoe champion more than Toki.

Agreed. Plus, the characters in the original had interesting backstories and motivations. The majority of the Achiga girls just had "Let's go see Nodoka!" as a reason, and eventually the audience was given more reasons to cheer for Senriyama instead.

Toki versus Kuro is actually one of the endgames I saw since the beginning (Toki being incredibly powerful versus someone who emerged from the Block of Death) and in spirit, I'll probably like this last match more than last yea'rs anti-climax. At the very least, even if the path going there was totally boring, Toki will get her deserved win (after sacrificing so much in the anime).

It also possible that most Saki fan just like Kuro more than Hisa while at the same time, some Saki fan like both equally so they choose not to vote.

Hisa is well liked among the Saki fanbase. One bad match against a same series opponent doesn't mean anything. If it did, you could start making claims that Nodoka isn't liked after getting beaten so badly by Toki. However, it's pretty clear that Nodoka has a large fanbase despite her loss. I don't think Hisa is as strong as Nodoka but more or less the same applies. She's well liked even if she can't compete with a much stronger Saki character. Also, Saki series power is strong but shouldn't be overestimated. Nearly two-thirds of the Saki characters in the contest went out in Round 1 because just a series name alone isn't enough to net you a win.

It didn't say it was well paced, just better paced. Did you miss the first half of the original series?

I don't know what series you watched but the first (half) Saki season was definitely better paced than Achiga.

We've finally reached the final match where Matsumi Kuro takes on Onjouji Toki. After preliminaries ended I had these two pegged as the two strongest in the tournament and amazingly they both made it to the finals. In previous years of Saimoe, I was usually pretty far off the mark. Toki has just been stomping through the bracket. Akaza Akari was supposed to be her greatest opponent and Toki still won with over 58% of the vote. However, so far Akari really was Toki's greatest opponent. No one else has managed to drop her any lower than that. If she has a strong performance on Kuro, Toki is easily capable of having the most dominant Saimoe performance ever. For the most part, Kuro hasn't had much trouble either. Aside for a close call against her sister, Kuro has defeated numerous strong opponents pretty easily. While Kuro may be the second strongest Saki character and the second strongest character in the tournament, Toki is number one. Toki will be getting revenge for Ryuuka who Kuro beat in Round 2. She's be doing it on route to become the Saimoe 2012 champion.

Vote:
Onjouji Toki

Prediction:
Onjouji Toki

I wonder what's wrong with the tracker since it shows Toki at 0 votes.

..... and Kuro is only showing 3 votes. (Either it's the tracker or voters are waiting)
