At vol6, Kufa investigated how the rumor about Melida still spreaded. It weren't from Zerge. Zerge told its from his guild. So Kufa went straight to asked. But his boss has known his faked report. His guild still targeted Melida. And Kufa can't do anything this time. At the begining of vol 7,Kufa predicted what will happem next. He trained Melida harder for that.

As for William,he had been a double agent since vol3.
He told his guild that Jack Raven has secret weapon hide in military (forget name) campel. That was faked information from Jack Raven to lure Grimfest out.
And the 2nd mission was assasination Melida.

The 1st was successed. But the 2nd was failed because Melida and other Duke's daughters were teamup and fought back.

In the end,William joined Jack Raven. Melida's grandfather has been target as a criminal by Jack Raven, But he able to ran away by help from robot jester (who use Melida as a model in vol10). Kufa and his guild don't know who help him.

Let me Spoil Vol5

Spoiler for Rosetti:

I think this volume is Rosetti's arc.
If you read manga, You will know she was civilian before. Novel Vol5 is her main arc. I will tell her background. This will tell Kufa's story too.

You know? Kufa came from Night World. When Kufa and his mom came to Human area. They stayed in boarder village first. His mom died later. Rosetti lived in that village too. And her dad was researching Lycantrope there. Nobody knew. He has his own reason.

One day Lycantrope had attacked. Jack Raven also knew its. But they came too late. Rosetti got heavy injury. Kufa had to saved her by turning her to his familiar. This is how Jack Raven have known Kufa. Kufa want Rosetti live as a normal civilian, and to persuade Jack Raven that she isn't dangerous. So he has to locked her memory. This will prevent Lycantrope's urge. She will unable to remember Kufa's identity at all.

As for Kufa, He has worked for Jack Raven since that. As for Rosetti, she awaken her mana later.

In vol5, School has a trip in this village. And Rosetti's dad want his daughter marry.

Some creators from Night World can fight him in his true form equally and he requires the help from other people to beat them. The biggest problem for him, however, is not the combat but it's how he must do everything to protect Melida and his own secrets and fame from the society.

Melida, Elise and Rosetti usually do most of the action in this series BTW.

It's a little complicate to explain but I'll try my best. Feel free to correct me.

Spoiler for major spoil:

The 1st part was more of the introductions of the main characters, their potential enemies and Kufa and Melida struggles in overcome their situations during Melida's 1st year (vol.1-4).

The second involve how Melida's growth is starting to have a major role in play when she was mentioned in the prophecy to be a threat not only to the lycanthrope's upcoming plans, but also to the King of Flander, Sergei, who is also Sarasha's brother as well as one of the 3 Dukes. Both Kufa and her became much closer as he shared his identity as a half vampire to her only along with their bonds with the other daughters of the Dukes and Rosetti in her 2nd year.

The story has now currently in her 3rd year

Lycantropes are the last enemy anyway. But main plot is how Melida grows and how Kufa supports her in many situations.

Vol.1-3 look like an introduction.
Vol.4-9 look like the first arc to me.

He is antagonist in this part.

For now, we are only told that Melida has become "Samurai" like Kufa since she received mana from him. Her original class (if she ever had one), is unknown. She's supposed to be paladin but...

Also, you don't become vampire/half-vampire just from mana transferring.

Read the beginning carefully where everyone suspected that she was the result of her mother's affair due to her mana not being awake at 7-8 years old. Kufa was sent to tutor and investigate her. If she didn't have any paladin blood in her, assassinate her. However he defied his orders and transplanted his mana to her.

It was later discovered in Vol.7 that some the nobles are unable awake their manas like her. William Jin is actually the elder son of the William aristocrats. But like her, he never had his awaken too so his family threw him out of the family by leaving him in a village and replace him with his brother. But Melida's case is still pretty much still a mystery
