Just got the game yesterday. Man having loads of fun with the fighter and Sorceress.

Nipple poking HNNNNNNNNNG! You can nipple poke anyone. Also reminded me of an old PC game where you can pick a guy's nose and he says stop that! I'd rather poke nipples.

That's no ordinary rabbit. Why that's the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on! Look here you, that rabbit's got a vicious streak a mile wide! It's a killer! He's got huge, sharp teeth and can leap about... er... He can create twisters. Look at those bodies and bones!

Anyone seen this yet?

Rather than hidden boss, it's one of those boss that you will fight when you took the alternative route in one of the dungeon. Defeating it will earn you the black orb needed to access the story's last dungeon (not sure last or not as I haven't reach that stage yet)

Funny that there are many bosses, like the Rabbit, that would make the battle easier if you take too long killing it. And in some cases the boss would die on its own, or would escape. Naturally it is best for your EXP to kill bosses before then, but it is interesting that the game gives you the win if you just survive long enough.

(The manticore would drown in lava, the Kraken would escape, etc.)

The only time I failed to kill a boss was the Red Dragon, and though it died by itself, I did not get the quest related item. Seems like you have to kill them to get those items.

Pre-Ordered at play-asia

You can only change the voice to Japanese in battle, cutscenes and other voices are English.

Amazon official artwork

You know... Amazon doesn't actually look as thick in the official artwork as her sprite suggests.

I actually found her sprite look much more easy to the eyes than her initial artwork.

Clock to 22 hours after 3 days of purchasing. I think I need to take a rest . The game is much more fun when playing with friends, though, especially when playing in ad-hoc. The AI really needs a huge improvement.

Only thing I hate about the AI is that they're drawn like moths to a flame in regards to environment hazards. Like I have to speed through stages like underground labyrinth as they'd be wasting LP for no good reason.

But otherwise they're not bad... for meat shields if only for me getting off meteor swarm (unoptimal playstyle, but goddam is it ever so satisfying XD). I actually like the handicap when they do die, as it makes the game more exciting when you're waiting for more sacrificial lambs reinforcements. They're good enough for me to do 'insatiable adventurer' dungeon run throughs many times in hard, though admittedly I haven't got to infernal yet.

I really like Vaillaware's games, the graphic are both beautiful and stylistic and the gameplay are interesting.

The narration style is nice too, Odin Sphere has its books theme with a girl picking up books as choosing characters' stories and Muramasa's ending make the whole game sounds like a Japanese storyteller telling us a story.

I am planning to get this game but I was kind of torn after looking at the art of Amazon and Sorceress

Not sure if I wanted to spent the entire game looking at the monstrous physique.... I know the previous two games have character of that kind proportion but we don't really spend a lot of time looking at them (since they are NPC or boss).

So....wanted to know from you guys (don't really trust review sites after buying Soul Sacrifice):

Is it the gameplay as interesting as the two previous game?
Is the story as interesting as the previous two?

Is it worth getting the game and ignoring that inhuman physique of the Amazon, Fighter and Sorceress? (Planning to play the Elf and Wizard anyway).

Well, if you read the previous posts, you will know that the game is great in a different way than Muramasa. I have no comment about the story, because it's almost non-existence. If you hate grinding type of game (like Monster Hunter or Soul Sacrifice), this is not the game for you.

Even for a loli lover like myself, I found the Sorceress is pleasant to look at.

That's due to practical reasons. When you shrink the human body down to sprite size, details get lost. To exaggerate features like thighs and boobs when you shrink them down is actually a valid excuse.

Two famous examples:
1. The Barbie Doll has ridiculous proportions. But when they tried a normal proportion Barbie, her body features practically vanish. She no longer looks like an adult, which was the draw with little girls would want to grow up ASAP.

2. Tifa of FFVII fame actually have rather normal boobs in design art and Advent Children. But in Chibi 3D in-game they had to give her porn star breasts just to allow you to detect them at the resolution available.

And to add a third indirect example, WoW have giant shoulder armour for player characters, Because it is the part of the body most visible to the player from the gaming POV and as such was essential to differentiate different armour types.

So it is a grinding game.....

Heck, I will buy it and try anyway.

The best way to see if a Grinding game is fun or not is to try it out yourself. Dragon Nest is fun (story is a bonus), Maple Story always have something new, hell even the original Ragnarok Online is fun but Raganrok Online 2 isn't..... Even with Noel class, it really bored me to tears.

About Monster Hunter and Soul Sacrifice.....kind of hard to put them together....

On one hand, I like Monster Hunters, have lots of fun playing it but so far I really can't get into Soul Sacrifice despite of trying very hard to get involved.

I blame the Soul Sacrifice's world mostly.... it is not dark enough (irony I know)

Despite of what the developer's claim, there is really not much serious Moral dilemma going on in the first few chapters.

It is difficult to feel anything when all the characters avoid being close to each other.

In a world of kill or be killed, it is hard to feel depressed and upset about defending yourself against strangers who attacked you and later sacrificing them (to gain power to protect yourself from future attacks).

=

On the other hand...... Monster Hunter is all about community. After a while, you kind of grew fond of the villagers, when you return from a hunt, you kind expect them to always be there but if a single village NPC is suddenly missing (being killed by monster), I would rage and prepare for war against the Over-size monster that killed him/her.

I dunno, I probably like SS for their "Lore" more than MH's monster description or whatever. All the MH I played, I have no care for any NPC, even with the Felyne. At least in SS there are 4 NPC that's worth reading their story.

But honestly, the best thing about Soul Sacrifice is all the monster's lore, while I only play MH because of the gameplay.

Another note, Ragnarok Online is hardly a grinding game (unless you're playing solo), but more like "social game". That's the main charm and the main reason that people keep going back for it.
