The shooting accuracy is great due to the scope and laser. It's also comfortable to fire But the jamming and the fact that get a bit of dirt inside = screw up major scale....arrgghh....I don't know, all the SAR in basic training are very very shittily maintained over time such that you yourself can't clean it up without serious tech support from the armourers (who seem to do nothing BTW) so maybe it was just a screwed up gun and once I got into my unit, I used Ultimax all the way barring shooting at the range but I hear similar complaints from others elsewhere...

Hmmm... the Howa Type 89 would probably be considered heavy and a bit busty.
What's interesting would be the K2. The bolt carrier group is derived from the American M16 rifle, but the gas operating system is derived from the AK-47. Does this mean it'll be in Seishou or Akagane? I'm thinking Akagane because of the operating system (which gives the potential for a tiger-eared K2). This gets even more fun since the K1 uses the direct impingement gas system, similar to the MAS-49 rifle, leading to a possible battle between siblings. There's also the problem of which school the K1 goes to, since it's a submachine gun by ROK classification but used as an assault rifle along with the K2 in actual deployment. And then there is the K11, the heavyweight (6.1 kg) with its integrated electronic scope, laser range-finder, ballistics computer and air-burst shells. Last edited by Sumeragi; 2012-04-23 at 01:23. |

Way I see it is that all students in Red Steel High are guns that are fully and directly influenced by the AK series like the Norinco Type 86, the Bizon and the Saiga 12K.
I think the K1/K2 could be at Seisho, but have cat ears/elf ears regardless if the student is male/female. The Galil and the RK95's got some AK influence, but there are other rifles that had an influence on them too. Since the HK53's in elementary, the K1 will be at elementary since Daewoo officially considers it as an SMG. While the Howa Type 64 is a high school student, I wonder about other guns that have their own ammo like the QBZ-95.

Most gun try to use common ammo like 5.56mm NATO. Some gun use their own ammo will meet trouble when it run low ammo and can't use enemy capture ammo. The QBZ-95 is also disliked by Chinese soldiers, thus they deverlop QBZ-03 assault rifle, which has similiar AK design =)).
