My hunch is that she lost her Real World legs long before she became a Burst Linker. As we all know, the game avatar uses your Real Life traumas as a model. Being legless in the Real World is probably what enabled her to have near-flight capabilities in the game world.

I agree with that assessment. It is most likely that she lost her legs long before, hence, her desire to jump so high. Although, that is a huge sacrifice, to sacrifice her legs in game as well. However, she probably thought that since her legs in real life were artificial, then her in game legs were no different and okay to be lost.

As far as how she lost her legs, I don't think they will elaborate on it, since it is not as important how she lost it but more important that they show the loss. She could be born without her legs. She could have had an accident and lost them. She could have contracted a disease and lost them. In the grand scheme of things, it is not that important, so we may never know.

Sky raker made this episode for me. She was awesome . Cant wait for more of her in the future. Oh and uhh haru was cool too .

I just realised how easy it is to figure out people's trauma based on their abilities now. Trauma leaves a hole in your heart and whatever you fill that hole with will materialise as an ability. Some fill that hole with anger and resentment but others fill it with dreams. For Haru the hole in his heart due to constantly feeling like he was beneath everyone else, was filled with his wish to fly above everyone else. For Sky Raker, lack of legs lead her to desire to be able to jump higher than anyone else. For Chiyu, I'm guessing the scars she's felt from being unable to stop her friends from separating lead her to desire the ability to heal wounds and restore things back to normal. For Noumi, I'm guessing he filled his hole with jealousy and a desire to have what others have, hence his ability to steal other people's ability.

and i just realized on why characters such as Sky Raker and Black Lotus are so wise its because i remember 1 day in the real world means 3 years on real accel world, and Black Lotus said with that fact their bodies does not old but their souls are aging and thus make them either more wiser/wilder

That's gotta have some far-reaching mental consequences as well. Haru's fortunate he only added a few days to his day, versus adding years.

That's why I'm worried. I'm not convinced his reign will end up finishing next episode, and suspect he'll be bringing Haru back down again with whatever he does...

Sky Raker laying it on. He had to go through some trauma greater than hers... must have some missing hole in his life. Bwahahaha. Incarnation/Reincarnation power... hmmm.


This anime can't be 24 episodes long. I hope they don't rush an ending. I wonder if we can expect a second season called Accel World Plus or something like that.

Yeah... "impossible." If he's Red Rider then there will probably be an explanation for reinstallation being possible. Maybe he was a beta tester and running a beta version when the BB erase happened. Since that wasn't the release version... bam... he got a second chance.

Maybe it was his pure will power that allowed the BB to be reinstalled... bwahaha. Incarnation Power.

It's probably because of the way she passionately spoke about Red Rider to Haru way back in Episode 8. Some people still have a hard time believing she can speak so passionately about someone she never even really knew in real life. I can't say I blame them but still...

- When KYH sees the footage taken when she betrays Red Rider... she turns to Haru and ask for forgiveness.
- Red Riders avatar and method of speaking. His voice is different but his mannerisms are familiar. The avatar is red but has a similar build to Silver Crow... lacking a lot of frilly stuff.
- Sky Raker's speech about will power and incarnation. Hinting at reincarnation?
- Chiyu and Taku have mentioned that Haru's personality changed... he used to be much bolder when he was younger. This is the reason why Taku went to the dark side... he was sort of jealous.
- Haru asks if KYH had some feelings for Red Rider and she says that Haru is the only one, her first. Some sort of code double speak from that one.

She didn't want Haru to see that side of her, a side she is disgusted with herself. That's why she turned to him, he's the one she loves and he was witnessing what she considered to be her most disgraceful moment.
And she never apologised to Haru, she just turned to him and said "I...I..." and fell over.

Hmm...right...we've seen little of Red Rider and what we've seen was nothing like Haru. Not only that but the voice is totally different, not to mention Haru would have been 2 years younger than he is now. We've seen other avatars with similar builds.

Right...of course people would jump on it the second the word Incarnation showed up.
The incarnate system is the ability to give form to will and thought...and you need to be inside AW for it to work...which would require the program to be installed in the first place.

Taku's jealousy came from the attention Chiyu gives Haru. He knew that Chiyu was in love with Haru even after they started dating, which made him jealous of Haru. And the personality shift? That tends to happen when everyone grows twice your size and you start getting bullied constantly...

I think the theory above is interesting (though perhaps better placed in the Speculation & Theories thread?), but I don't think we can necessarily take the word "Incarnate" to hint at "Reincarnation" in that sort of meaning. I think the whole theory breaks too many in-universe rules, and would have to rely on all sorts of "normally that's the case, but because of this one-time special...". I think the hints that are given are far too circumstantial to constitute a believable theory... but anyway, like I said, perhaps this is a conversation for the Theories thread.

So, in summation, you're thinking that Haru got amnesia two years ago and completely forgot everything about Brain Burst after he was killed by KYH? Wouldn't that also mean that Haru hacked into the system, since it not only requires you have one of those things installed in you, but it had to of been there from birth. And I"m pretty sure you can't just easily dislodge it and put another in it.
I mean...that's a pretty big stretch.

It must have something to do with the incarnate system or maybe that it wasn't done in a duel. Haru's arms and legs were shot off by another in combat but she freely gave her legs away in order to get an upgrade.

This episode was a great deal better than the last. Haru gets pushed off a cliff, which he urgently needed as a wake-up call, and then gets a training to get back his resolve and even make him stronger.

However, it is also revealed that Sky Raker is a very tragic character. Behind a happy face and open behaviour lies a girl that is far more broken than Haru ever was, even right after the loss of his wings. When her desire to fly turned into a madness, it made her give up her most prized possession, her legs. They were much more precious for her than for anyone else, given that she lost her legs in RL, too. When even losing her legs didn't achieve much, she was totally crushed and destroyed and lost any will to fight. Since that day, she has been living in self-elected isolation in that remote place, where no one ever visits (except maybe Ash from time to time).

I'm sure that getting back her legs would be no problem at all - if she just wanted. But as she's totally given up, it just doesn't happen. It's just as Kuroyukihime said back then, once you've lost your will to fight and given up, it's end of the line.

Perhaps at a later time, she'll meet with Kuroyukihime in RL again, and that might help her get over her trauma of losing her legs for the second time, and thus get back her will to fight and her hope, and once that happened, she'll also get back her legs - and then of course join the Black Legion, as well

Yes, that's very possible. After Kuroyukihime saw that the incarnation system drove her then best friend insane, making her cut off her legs... which was even much worse for her, given that Sky Raker already had lost her legs in RL. I'm pretty sure Kuroyukihime knew about it, since they were best friends then.
After Sky Raker made her cut off her legs, something broke in Kuroyukihime, and she went into a dwonward spiral of hate, disgust and resentment about how she could've done such a thing. I think that even was the trigger which turned her cold and emotionless, and made her kill the Red King.
