RAINBOW: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin
Here is the official announcement.
This would highly contrast the lighthearted fare next season, and is about the harrowing story of seven teenagers coping with poverty and oppression. It is among the series I'm looking forward to. I'd like to know if anyone knows more about it, though. Thanks.

I noticed the anime on that spring season anime poster, and I found the premise interesting, too. However, I wouldn't hold my breath. The announcement is 11 months old. Moonphase lists it as "Spring 2009" but with no additional information about the anime whatsoever, let alone a link to an official page. So basically, radio silence for almost a year?

This was supposed to be on my must-watch list this Spring but suddenly dropped off the face of the earth. It's good it's still going to get released, I'd guess the delay is because people are iffy with the subject matter.

Gotta give Madhouse props there one of the few mainstream studios these days that are still willing to do mature series.
Edit: Shun Oguri is lead starting in this series interesting. Hopefully this means the series has good production values. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...ole-in-rainbow Last edited by ZODDGUTS; 2010-02-25 at 17:57. |

Nice first episode, pretty much a faithful adaptation of the first (manga) chapter.
Since only three chapters are scanlated (since a very long time) I am looking forward to see how the story goes further.

Episode 1:
A bit of mixed feelings. It's one of my favourite manga. They did not need to subtract from the original nor add anything to make up the subtraction. Didn't need the hamming... =( Just play it out naturally. The soundtrack, though, sounds good. I'll wait for the better raw in the next few days to rewatch it. |

Episode 1 was pretty good with introducing the characters. As expected, this series is pretty dark. I am most ambivalent about the doctor as I keep expecting to pop an evil grimace here and there but nothing happened.
I wonder how long this anime will be because I'm not sure I can handle 24+ episodes of grimness. |

Soundtrack was good, but the episode was soso for me.
The angry security guard didn't make any sense with the "caring" doctor present. And the story narrated by a female seems out of place. Spoiler for Ep 1:

Finally this thing has subs. May those moeshit fansubbers burn in hell. Seriously, what the fuck.
That said, it was awesome. It's like Kaiji + Prison Break + Hajime no Ippo, lol. Also, Sakuragi is voiced by fucking Takamura.
