All the while you have the hawkish Chinese generals focused on expansionism.

Ishihara: “Japan Needs Its Own Mossad!”:

"In the wake of a new anti-spying law, top nationalist politician Shintaro Ishihara is
calling for Japan to go a step further and emulate Israel by “creating our own
Mossad” (or “Section 9″ as GitS fans have pointed out)."

Fact is, in the last decade and a half the idol boom just brought out all types of idol groups and individuals, anywhere from traditional to the edgy (mostly indies) or the outre (such as the aforementioned Babymetal).

Otaku Culture Runs Deep With Anime Tattoos:

"Colorful anime images aren't just for cars anymore. Otaku tattoos are becoming
more popular in Japan as of late, even prompting its own "Ota-Tattoo Night:Z"
convention in Osaka for the hobby. Currently, the tattoos are most popular among
young women in Japan. The tattoos are usually moe, bishojo, or bishonen
characters."

Mossad is a terrible organization to emulate. The GRU and Unit 61398 (or whatever it's called) would be far better choices.

However, I'd be skeptical if Sankakucomplex said that water was wet - do you have any better sources?

Please tell me you have never served in a military.

Same question to you. Read back your own post; do you really intend it to sound, excuse my mirth, as ridiculous as you intended it to be?

That remark is much a similar to what I have heard from military scholars who have a bigger rank than their knowledge base in.....certain operations. I apologise if I cannot elaborate; but I shall direct you to sift through the many documents found on wikileaks to get a bigger picture of what "data gathering" in what political/diplomatic/military is about.

Do you know why I'd say that Mossad is not the kind of organization you'd want to emulate?

Explain away. Though nothing matters on the ground other than from a "edge" perspective.

Japan Holds Contest to Find Best Telephone Answering Voice

Quote:
“How may I help you today?” a young contestant in a checked vest and skirt uniform says in Japanese after she picks up the phone, her hand visibly shaking. She chirps through the salutations in the high-pitched voice preferred by Japanese bosses for decades. She nods and bows, smiles and then grimaces in what appears to be nervousness and sheer effort. “I’m always at your service,” she says.

For over a half-century, office workers from companies across Japan have gathered each year to battle it out for the title of Japan’s best phone answerer.

Some experts explicitly tell women to speak in a higher voice than usual to sound feminine and energetic. “Think of the musical scale — do, re, mi, fa — and imagine speaking in fa,” says Akiko Mizuki, a business manner expert on AllAbout.com.

Mika Otani trained six months for the competition by writing out sample answers and practicing in front of a mirror to make sure she was properly opening up her larynx and articulating. But Ms. Otani, 26, does not plan to simply follow tradition. She considers herself a modern woman and shuns the high-pitched voice. As more women have taken on professional positions in recent years, she said, there has been a backlash against overly squeaky voices.

“I work at a financial institution, so I don’t want to sound like a cartoon character,” Ms. Otani said before the competition.

Does anyone know anything about Japanese property regulations with regards to foreigners owning property and acting as landlords in Japan?

Yes, over entirely worthless piece of rock.

Unlike the rock near Taiwan in dispute with China which actually is a key location for undersea resources, the one between Japan and Korean peninsula is pretty much just a rock.

There were some laws regulating ownership by foreign entity/individual pre-WW2, but it was not being practiced after the War.
However, due to concerns of Chinese purchases of Japanese lands, the law is starting to be discussed again.
The law isn't usable in it original form as it was an imperial military law that could seize foreign owned Japanese lands, but since that governing body no longer exist..
