While I like Rocks, why not use one of their better songs like Hagane no Messiah or SKILL, or GONG?

JAM Project is quite well known within the Super Robot Wars community for performing OP's, and they've done lots of OP's for other anime as well, from Gravion to Cardfight Vanguard.

While they are generally known for their hotblooded songs (MOTTO MOTTO!!!! *ehem* ), they have done some nice ballad songs as well, like "Little Wing" for Scrapped Princess, or their song KI.ZU.NA.

Hm, that isn't doing it for me, at all. But I was never into opening and ending themes anyway, so it don't matter to me one way or the other.

For me though, the OP song actually sets the mood for the entire show, even if it's never indicative of the show itself. There have been entire shows I've been roped into watching simply because I liked the OP song

And just because I have an excuse to post it, I'll link to my favorite OP song that JAM Project has done, which was the OP for Gravion Zwei:

Strangely, although I know about the group from the SRW series, I am more familiar with their rock covers of other OPs. For a more related example, I think the last song that their main singer covered for a Sunrise Robot show is...

... GaoGaiGar.

Cheers.

For a short while, I actually thought Yuusha-Oh Tanjou was a JAM Project song... until I realized GaoGaiGar predated the formation of JAM Project

Well, one reason JAM Project is so popular is because the founding members are all long time anison alumni (JAM being the acronym for Japan Animationsong Makers) including Ichirou Mizuki, Hironobu Kageyama and Masaaki Endoh, hence their involvement with all manner of anime OP's, mostly those titles in the childrens block.

The first song I heard that introduced me to the group was for this OP:

They did a lot of OST for SRW, too, not OP and ED only.

To be fair, not everyone is into super robot shows.

No. The vocalist for JAM Project and Fire Bomber (the band within Macross 7) are the same, Yoshiki Fukuyama.

'Okay so the band doing the theme song does themes for alot of super robot stuff and the Titus Gundam looks like Godannar Twin Drive bastard child I gotta say this doesn't bode well. I'm starting to worry we may hit Gurren Lagann levels of super robot craziness before Gundam Age is over.

Yup, a founder of JAM Project is Mr. DBZ himself, Hironobu Kageyama.

Umm, what? That makes absolutely no sense. JAM Project does a lot of super robot stuff because 1) their vocalists tend to be veteran anime singers and bring a nostalgic, retro sound with them; 2) they are HOT BLOODED, which fits the genre perfectly

Now tell me where you are getting Gurren Lagann from that.

Sorry I should have been clearer I was really hoping we were wrong about Gundam AGE being super robot series the choice in bands just reconfirms it.

About project jam ive listened to some of their music and its definitely not my style.... But havnt heard their opening yet so it may surprise me.. if it doesnt.. luckily its just an OP

Im not a huge fan of super robots either.. But i can easily put it aside if the story and characters are interesting.
