While I like Rocks, why not use one of their better songs like Hagane no Messiah or SKILL, or GONG?
JAM Project is quite well known within the Super Robot Wars community for performing OP's, and they've done lots of OP's for other anime as well, from Gravion to Cardfight Vanguard. While they are generally known for their hotblooded songs (MOTTO MOTTO!!!! *ehem* ), they have done some nice ballad songs as well, like "Little Wing" for Scrapped Princess, or their song KI.ZU.NA.

And just because I have an excuse to post it, I'll link to my favorite OP song that JAM Project has done, which was the OP for Gravion Zwei:

Strangely, although I know about the group from the SRW series, I am more familiar with their rock covers of other OPs. For a more related example, I think the last song that their main singer covered for a Sunrise Robot show is...
... GaoGaiGar. Cheers.

Well, one reason JAM Project is so popular is because the founding members are all long time anison alumni (JAM being the acronym for Japan Animationsong Makers) including Ichirou Mizuki, Hironobu Kageyama and Masaaki Endoh, hence their involvement with all manner of anime OP's, mostly those titles in the childrens block. The first song I heard that introduced me to the group was for this OP:

'Okay so the band doing the theme song does themes for alot of super robot stuff and the Titus Gundam looks like Godannar Twin Drive bastard child I gotta say this doesn't bode well. I'm starting to worry we may hit Gurren Lagann levels of super robot craziness before Gundam Age is over.

Im not a huge fan of super robots either.. But i can easily put it aside if the story and characters are interesting. |
