It's an issue ! They need imagepoch authorization but they longer around, if they localize the game anyway imagepoch can pop up out of nowhere and get ton of money from copyright violations.

Honest question: do entities which no longer exist (and the President/CEO seems to have disappeared) still own IP rights?

FGO felt perfectly safe in doing the collab event, so.....why wouldn't the US version?

It's complicated, the IP owner (characters, story, etc) is Type Moon, characters can be used without asking permission of 3rd party, eg. CCC event. But the game itself as software and source code belongs to imagepouch, as FGO source code belongs to DW.

I'm talking about if there are any legal reasons why the CCC collab event could not be done in the US version.

And I think you're talking about if there are legal reasons why the game CCC can't be translated/brought over to the US

There's a new post Clarifying about the CCC event. The guy who said that there won't be CCC is just playing a long game of telephone(posted on reddit, then on 4chan, then reposted to reddit). There isn't any legal barriers to bringing it over. The aniplex panel just commented that it would be difficult to translate because there is no reference for them and lack of fan familiarity.

Type-moon is the IP holder of extra so they can use its assets as they please.

There's no big restrictions for CCC event, in fact Illya's event is the most complicated because need Kandokawa permission as well Silver Link? For the OST.

But since the game CCC has no export, the players are missing the backstory of the event but nothing that an anime can't solve.
