FF15 being a Sony exclusive would be hardly unusual. FF is not famed for being cross platform anyway. In fact I expect Sony to keep SE disciplined.

*sigh* I was expecting for this. Good thing I saved enough money for the ps4 already. Next question is... when is the real release date? I heard rumors that it's out on 2014, but I wouldn't be surprise if it gets pushed on later date again.

To add to this, Sony's bleeding pretty badly right now. They can't afford to lose another big franchise like they did with Monster Hunter.

Not sure if I by the Versus=FFXV though.

I don't think they'll ever turn the main Final Fantasy games into a real-time action RPG. That will always be saved for the sequels, spinoffs, and Kingdom Hearts.

For all we know they might have scrapped that design and make it turn base.

A good FF game is always story and character first for me, i.e. give me a emotional roller coaster from start to end

I hope FFXV will go back to it's root for good story telling instead of just focus of the appealing factor

To be fair, only FFI-III and X are actually turn-based. The rest use ATB which is pseudo realtime. I think it's better to say that if Versus has indeed been renamed as FFXV it might be the first non Command based system in the series.

Didn't this rumor already get floated awhile ago? I'm still not seeing any sources.

Well, we will almost definitely find out what's going on in June. They teasered a big announcement at the ps4 conference a few weeks ago. That was actually kind of a disappointment. All they did was show that demo trailer that they had already shown at last year's E3 and say that they'll have something to show this year.

Good move in a new direction. This guy has been an absolutely complete and utter miserable failure of a CEO on a level I have rarely seen in the video game industry. He took a company coming off a hot merger and at the apex of Console JRPG production and brought them to a 13 billon yen loss in just this year, development hell, significantly diminished output a failed MMO and arguable irrelevancy in the west that now sees them primarily scrounging the IoS market for peanuts with things like All The Bravest. Its like a sick cruel joke and the decline in Square Enix brand coincides perfectly with his taking over too, its no accident.

Wada struck me as a financial businessman who had no business running a video game company and had no idea how to connect with JRPG fans nor like he cared. He was like an anti-Iwata, arrogant, clueless, reactionary with no sense of direction or vision and stodgy. He will probably find a good job running a bank somewhere but no doubt this is it for him and video games.

Looking forward to a post Iwata Square Enix hopefully someone with a clue takes over and we can see some real progress on Versus, the revival of some Square franchises that have been neglected for a constant stream of FF and Kingdom Hearts spinoffs. It'll take time though as Wada leaves Square in all but tatters so now I just hope for some progress on getting games like Type 0 and bravely default over.

To be fair, didn't they post increased profits pretty much from the time of the S-E merger to 2007? But yeah, after that, with the exception of like 2010, or whenever FF13 came out, it's plummeted.

Kind of funny that it began soon after Versus was revealed, the game that's become one of the symbols of what's wrong with the company.

Your not being fair, the guy has been in charge of SE for more than 10 years and he's brought some successful games and moves to the company. Blaming him for only mishaps that are more attribute to others (like FFXIV 1.0) is pretty short-sighted. The truth of matter for SE (and most Japanese publishers) on consoles this gen is that they weren't prepared for HD development. Wada CEO being here or not would have done little to change that as it's problem of production methodology. Calling him arrogant and clueless is pretty interesting because interviews he's never came off like that at all. If anything he was all about giving complete creative control to dev leads which ended up being the real problem. That why you have all these delays and such.

He's not the one really denying you Versus or KH III, that's mostly up to Nomura and if anything can be learned from past big console titles with similar troubles (i.e FFXII and XIII) that team wasn't really prepared next gen either.

Unless you know a way Type-0 won't bomb hugely overseas and break even on it's localization costs that a long shot.

Not prepared for HD development?

I am putting my hand up for pointing out that no one EVER fault SE for graphic quality. I have never heard anyone call their recent FF games "ugly". Hell, I might have avoided FF13 series like the plague, but even then I would never claim the game is lacking in the graphics department.

Or I guess you mean they ended up sacrificing everything else to crank out excessive eyecandy? Then in that case I agree with you.
