unless the HK police make another mistake, this should be it for the protest.

Quote:
HONG KONG — Joshua Wong, the 18-year-old who has become the face of Hong Kong’s pro-democracy student protest movement, ended a hunger strike on Saturday, saying his doctor had advised him to do so as his health deteriorated.
Later, another hunger striker withdrew, leaving two students still engaged in the strike. Efforts by the protesters to press the Hong Kong government into talks over the election process for the city’s leader have become increasingly troubled in recent days, and public support for their actions has been waning.

People poisoned at a furry convention

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/12/1...racter-confab/

19 hospitalized. This is bullshit. So hateful. I don't know if some really big troll did this, or some religious nutjob did it because they hate furries because of the large amount of gays in the fandom and the large amount of porn in the fandom.

Wow, I knew about the Brown Box, but I had no idea (or I completely forgot) he invented Simon. We had one of those. Spent many, many hours playing with it.

Thanks for all the entertainment Mr. Baer.

This is what happens when you think you're Jack Bauer, but you're actually CollegeHumor Batman.

Apparently a bunch of torrent (and related) sites were taken down in the last day or so by authorities. I give them a few hours before they pop up again or until people switch to other sites.

Taking down the biggest site of them all will only make the smaller ones more popular in its stead. A pointless move, if you ask me.

So how everyone took that new CIA torture report?

Have to say that it was so cliche that it was so unreal. I means of course i know that torture already existed, but didn't expect it to be at this level of extreme, fiction-like.

But i guess it's better for it to be out, when it can be seriously debate over and condemned, so we can raise over our mistakes and does not let it happen again. Unlike NSA's case where things were softly swept under the rug and hope that the media will forget.

And on the topic, Snowden and his recent interview related to the CIA report below. Honestly i never follow the story before, and it's my first time listening to his interview. But i have to say, firstly, why his voice sounds so familiar... And secondly have to say he's a very educated individual, with a very strong and clear sense of justice that made me feel ashamed that he was just some ages older. I means even if you don't agree with what he said, he still make his point incredibly clear and logical. Unlike Julian Assange who seemed to be destroyed by his confinement, Snowden still seemed burning with passion, especially considering his current position. Hope he could come back home one day (or move to France if that petition passed)...

Not familiar with history, are you? I give it two weeks and it will be shuffled out of the news cycle. No one will be prosecuted, no one will go to jail, the prisoners will still be stuck in prison, and torture will continue to happen.

I really, really wish this report would change all that. But it won't.

I was just in mood for something positive, you know, thinking that it will eventually snowballing into something bigger...

Most likely won't, but the holiday season do lighten my moods and i ended up taking thing more positive than usual. If only i actually have a full break...

Sorry, didn't mean to crash your optimism. It's true that things like this coming it is better than not. Over time, they will reach critical mass and snowball. At least publicly, few will openly support it compared to how they used to. So it's a start.

So this hack on Sony and the emails...was it really done by North Koreans in retaliation for the movie 'The Interview'?

Very likely and with some possible assistance from the Chinese's hacking division as well. There will be one of those days when it will be nice to hear that hackers did some considerable damage from outside against North Korea.

As if they have anything worthy to hack there

At best, you will get Kim Jong Un nude picture... but please.... that is a crime against humanity. Jon't let those that can't be unseen... seen

If we hack North Korea, we will be able to get more pictures like this...

Hardly seems worth it.

NATO planes joined British hunt for submarine after periscope spotted off
Scottish nuclear base:

"NATO patrol planes have helped Britain scour the waters off Scotland's west coast
after a submarine's periscope was spotted, in a search reminiscent of the Cold War,
according to media reports."

See:

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-12-1...marine/5959106

&

http://aviationweek.com/defense/cana...arine-scotland

First the Swedish incident, now this.

I wonder if the British are starting to regret scrapping their Nimrod sub-hunting
planes?
