Did they set the record for longest amount of walking in a single anime episode? It's important to make note of this stuff!

I feel like Saeki would forgive Kasuga for anything he needs to just lay his soul bare, tell her about the influence of Nakamura and he could be living happily ever after!

Oh, I liked all the walking. The accompanying music was brilliant, and I thought carried the scene despite its length. The fact that Kasuga and Nakamura hold hands, in silence, for such a long time, gave the scene a very distinctive intensity. An ordinary show would have been filled with words, recriminations, lots of blah-blah-blah. This show instead lets the characters connect silently, wordlessly. I thought the scene was unusual and effective.

The other thing is, I have memories of doing things I wasn't supposed to be doing, after hours, at school, where walking together with fellow rule-breakers was just exhilarating. This scene reminded me of that particular excitement. Such moments were never too long.

The long walking sequence reminded me of something i would see in a Takashi Miike or David Lynch movie, especially the unnerving music and atmosphere.

Shit just got real!

But walking part is director's masturbation.

The scene of Nakamura and Kasuga walking passed me absolutely nothing. It was too long. If it were shorter, it would have worked for me and many others. I'm sure. Became boring and useless. I'm not saying to exclude this type of scene. The rotoscoping is the right method to animate Aku no Hana. I'm just saying stretch it too much will not contribute anything.

And besides, I could not feel the fear of Kasuga to be in school.

But that would be too easy and heavens we can't have that here!

I did find this to be over the top though: if someone had destroyed my classroom in high school like that me and my friends would be 'HOT DAMN LETS GO HOME' not in tears like someone died..

There's that lack of medium awareness cropping up again. Six full minutes to decompress from the previous episode's closing scene would have been much more effective if we hadn't already had a week in between to do just that. Failing to build that momentum back up, it just looks like stalling for time. It's things like this that make me think that someone really wanted this show to be a movie instead.

I really don't understand the pacing of the anime... We are totally not going to see the end of the first part which was one of the reasons I wanted to watch the anime.

Maybe you shouldn't always watch the anime for the manga, just maybe you could watch it for the anime itself, see what that yields on its own.

If I only wanted to watch this for the manga I would have dropped it a long time ago
But considering the adaptation has been very faithful up until now, I think I have the right to wonder how they want to conclude the story if they keep being this faithful with this pacing.

Spoiler for video:
Aha, so this is what'll happen when Nakamura finally tears down all of his walls!

I can't decide -- is a woman who wants to cosplay Nakamura super cool or incredibly scary?

Episode 9 was mostly predictable, but decent. Saeki shouting through Kasuga's window was the best part, in my view. (Can anyone say "Stockholm syndrome"?)

Unfortunately, the lack of facial expression fidelity strikes again...

I want Kasuga and Saeki to talk alone, without that evil home wrecker showing up!

It seems Nakamura may have been slightly correct about Saeki wanting to fuck Kasuga. Saeki's like a reverse crazy stalker or something. "I like that you stole my gym clothes and might have done perverted things to them, but I still think you aren't perverted and I still want you to love me! PLEASE" o_o

she certainly didn't deny it

i think her character just added another dimension after this episode. I initially thought she would be a rather 1 dimensional one; just somebody with a pretty face and "perfect personality."
