The fandom will have a crisis meltdown if Itsuki ends up winning the race thru a lot of cheating and asspull.

Just imagine if Itsuki fans would have fight thru 4 factions at the same time for their life.

At least in Naruto, it simply Hinata faction vs Sakura faction. Still manageable for Hinata fans.

They could just simply compare this with Oreimo for the author's longshot bias. Or they could simply feeling upset of how Nisekoi ended when Raku decided to let go of the childhood promise he had with Kosaki/Onodera & chose to follow his heart - Chitoge.

To be fair, Nisekoi was a good & fair race. I don't see the point of still feeling butthurt about the ending. And Go-toubun is pretty much close to Nisekoi in terms of the story settings.

But something like Oreimo? It was a different story that has left salty fans with a bad taste in their mouths, which was understandable. I even felt upset when the guy rejected Ayase.

EIther way, people would just call out the MC got sh*t taste on girls for not picking the best waifu material.

I can smell a Nisekoi ending for this from miles away but considering how Masamune-kun ended and how Bokuben is literally pulling a nisekoi too I don't have too much hope for this one.

Leave the harem crap to isekai garbage. We don't need that in rom-com. Picking a single winner is what made the discussion and speculation fun in every rom-com series.

Even if the girls are willing to share, Fuu is too poor to give all of them a decent life. This isn't Isekai where the MC can somewhat BS all his way to becoming God of the World, has unlimited stamina, cheat items and have a lot of money. Heck, even the famous and popular rich person in our world who wouldn't dare to openly admits that he has a harem, or else he would get torn apart on spot by media, feminist, SJW and society and eventually lost his fortune and business as backlash.

Yotsuba seems to withdraw herself from the race, although some argue that she goes submarine. But for me, there would be no hard feelings in either ways when it comes to Yotsuba. In fact, she hardly sees Fuutarou romantically from the start.

Still, this one is at least a little more linear (or should I say - less wishy-washy) than Nisekoi, while the latter did have subtle hints, yet got dragged on with slice of life stuffs just to play the long game.

At this moment, Yotsuba wasn't the only that in submarine mode. Itsuki too.

Just as I said before, both of them are probably busy upgrading their submarine to the point it enough to wipe out 3 sisters' ships in one blow when they emerged.

Final battle will be Itsuki vs Yotsuba.

Well that's the problem for those who wish to play the long game, yet still hasn't done anything convincingly fruitful. If waiting for too long, the opportunity would be gone. Even if trying to play the quiet/covert game discretely just to eventually surprise us, it don't usually work out well in romance.

Detailed summary.

Spoiler for Chapter 73:

Takeda's father is the chairman of the school, an old acquaintance of Papa Nakano.

Studying with the quints, but Ichika is not present due to work. Itsuki still didn't find a part time job, while Nino called Fuutarou Fuu-kun in front of everyone, and Miku instantly sensed the danger and interfered. Turns out their scores went down, probably due to work, except for Itsuki, so they have a long way to go till the national mock test and graduation. Enters Papa Nakano with Takeda, and introduces him as their new tutor.

Papa Nakano gave credit to Fuutarou for the previous exams, but he is not an outstanding tutor anymore, since all of his scores have fallen, and Takeda is the new #1 in school. He wanted to beat Fuutarou for 2 years now, and finally did it. Fuutarou of couse didn't care for #2 and below, since he always got 100 points. (Takeda is Kakine)

Itsuki protests and swears she will get the best score among the 3rd year students, while everyone goes "Nani?". Plus they bring up how they were the ones, who hired Fuutarou. Takeda says it's the quints' fault that Fuutarou became an ordinary person, while Papa Nakano follows with the thought of letting him go, because Fuutarou also has a life.

Fuutarou knows that they overrate her, but he is essentially glad about becoming an ordinary person, which he couldn't even imagine before starting this work. He swears that he won't let their scores drop again and he will become #1 in school again... And #1 nationally as well! The quints are horrified that it's a reckless declaration.

One of the top ten students in the national mock test. If Fuutarou can manage to do it, Papa Nakano acknowledges him as worthy for his daughters.

The test seems to be 1 day after Fuutarou's birthday, so no time for celebration?

It's not the girl from Kyoto. It's Nino from 5 years ago. That cover symbolizes Nino not being able to let go of the past.

I cannot believe fans in Japan loved the latest chapter/ Yotsuba so much. I was pretty sure Nino would finish ahead of Yotsuba but now it increasing looks like Miku's throne is under real threat for the first time since the serialization!

Comparing twitter likes is not a very good way to gauge popularity. It very much depends on the quality of the art and Yotsuba's was much better than Nino's. (I also think it was better than Miku's, but her fanbase is just too strong).

I'd also like to remind you that before the officiall poll Nino had the most and 2nd most number of likes for the volume bonuses. It didn't help her in any way.
Those numbers mean nothing.

If you want to compare how much japanese fans liked the last two chapters then Negi made separate tweets to promote those.

After the scramble eggs arc, I'm still inclining to Nino could be the one who kissed him in haste, since she's the one who once invited Fuu at the bell at one night & knew where was it. Honestly, the arc was so confusing with the other 4 sisters put on Itsuki disguise. Appearance did not matter, so we got to rely on personalities, behaviors & other quirks to differentiate them.

I'm a bit late to the party this time as I've been quite preoccupied with the new SnK chapter and the release of the Code Geass movie. Literally just finished reading the new Go-Toubun chapter.

Yup, there's no longer any doubt. Yotsuba's ship is now sunk imho. Normally, when the girl gives up like this, it would be seen as a winning flag, but considering that she has had practically no romantic development and we're on route to the ending, I'd say she's done and dusted.

I interpret this as Negi acknowledging that he would not be able to weaponize both Yotsuba and Itsuki in time for the ending if he decided to go that route, so he cut his losses and sacrificed one of them. Then again, imo it's not like he can get Itsuki battle-ready either unless he asspulls and bullshits her way to victory, but I digress.

That said, even tho I consider Yotsuba out of the shipping wars, I still suspect that she's the Kyoto Girl and this chapter aroused those suspicions even more.

Wait- you're saying 428 got something to hide. Though given the way Rena grinned, it seems like I could think only Nino & Yotsuba can do that. And we thought Itsuki is the only one who suspected to be keeping secret. Scramble eggs arc seemed to downplay the Rena encounter, however.

Then again, 428 may be suck at disguise, but it doesn't mean she's incapable of putting on a poker face either.

On side note, Papakano still disapproved Fuu-kun & had Takeda be the new tutor instead. Even though Grandpa approved Fuu-kun. The quints are in the defensive, hiding behind Fuutarou's back "you shall never take our future hubby from us!"
